Abstract

Solar dryer is a drying foodstuffs, agricultural products and fishery products with the aim of accelerate the drying process using solar energy. This research is aims to find out the performance of the dryer with heat storage on the reduction of the water content of the material. This tool is combined with a heat storage system using a split stone material or so-called rock beds as a sensible heat storage medium to dry raja sere bananas. The drying process is carried out for 8 hours with direct heating from solar thermal energy and continued for 4 hours by utilizing heat from the heat storage system. The test parameters include the intensity of solar radiation, temperature, and the decrease of material mass. The average solar intensity received by the solar collector is 882.39 W/m2, with an average material temperature of 34.02°C. The highest temperature on rack 8 is 35.09oC and the lowest temperature in rack 1 is 33.25oC. The highest rock temperature of 43.94oC with thermal energy is stored at 2311.87 kJ. Percentage reduction of material mass by 39.59% with final moisture content of 45% wet basis.Keywords: Solar Dryer, Heat Storage, Mass Reduction.

Abstract

DFMA is defined as the design of a product or component that can facilitate the manufacturing process and the assembly process with other components to become a whole product. The process of molding meatballs plays an important role in the production process or economic process. Meatball molding machine has the working principle of stirring the dough by rotating the stirring knife, which is stacked on the shaft that receives rotation of the pulley and gears driven by an electric motor. Meatball dough that is already inside the stirrer will be pushed towards the cutting knife using a stirring knife, then the cutting knife serves to form the meatball dough into meatball granules. The development of a simplified design is needed to increase efficiency and reduce time in assembling meatball molding machines. Design development does not change the function of each product component. The calculation of the efficiency of the assembly of meatball molding machines in Patin Village was carried out at the beginning of the study, then a combination process and component elimination were carried out which did not affect the value added of the product. Meatball molding machines in Patin Village have 24 engine elements with 77 components, requiring 11 minutes 50.47 seconds assembly time and 10.13% assembly efficiency while the engine design development results have 21 engine elements with 64 component components, requiring 8 minutes 5.17 seconds assembly time and assembly efficiency of 12.98%.Keywords: DFMA, Meatball Molding, Meatball Molding Machines, Assembly Efficiency

Abstract

Press tool is a tool to produce a component in bulk with the same shape and size, so that it becomes the desired production item. Jigs and fixture is a tool that holds a production workpiece, which can be the doubling of components accurately. This research aims to connect the two devices, jigs and fixture is needed as a link between the top and bottom positions of the press tool and to grip the workpiece so it doesn't move when the production process is being carried out. The use of a bending press machine as a pressing force on the press tool so that it can produce in large quantities in a relatively short time, the work area of a large bending press is 2500 mm x 140 mm x 300 mm, allowing many press tools to be joined by press bending, because jigs and fixture only measures 300 mm x 250 mm x 300 mm. The parts of jigs and fixture are top position, bottom position, and dies. The method used the finite element using inventor software to determine the voltage, deflection and safety factors of jigs and fixture. From the results of manual calculation, it was found that the force needed to cut a 2 mm thick plate of 160 Kn. From the results of the inventor analysis for the upper and lower plates obtained the maximum voltage of 33.8 MPa and 67.28 MPa, deflection of 0.01513 mm and 0.01284 mm, safety factor of 15.Keyword : Jigs, Fixture, Press Tool, Press Bending, Autodesk Inventor

Abstract

Hydraulic press machine is a device that is used to mass produce a component with the same shape and size, so that it becomes the desired production item. In this research is proposed to design the component of a hydraulic press machine system for a maximum capacity of 50 ton. The design was begins by observing the needs and workings of the system, followed by analysis and calculation components of hydraulic system, then engineering drawings and completion. The results design was obtained a hydraulic system capacity of 50 ton, then determined the working fluid pressure (P) of 250 bar = 250. 105N / m2. Loading force is obtained to calculate things related to the hydraulic system namely cylinder dimensions and load holding strength, the workings of the system to determine the main components and determine the flow rate capacity in the cylinder. From the results of the calculation, the maximum loading force = 490,500 N, the maximum tensile stress = 1172 N / mm2, and the material permit stress = 116.5 N / m2, with the material used is nickel molybdenum chromium steel (JIS G4103 SNCM25). Abstract

According to the observation the majority of people who dump garbage alongside the road, they throw it away from the vehicle. In this research designed a waste bin that can facilitate people who use vehicles to dispose of waste without having to get off the vehicle. In this research employed the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method and the selection of alternatif designs using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Based on the results of open questionnaires, there were six voice of customer, which become parameters in litter catcher design that was easy to be emptied, according to standard, plastic trash writing on trash bin body, material of metal, box shape and easy to clean. Priority technical characteristics based on importance level were design with value of 27.72, finishing with value of 25.74 and construction with value of 23.76. The optimal design was chosen the alternatif design number 2 with a weight of 0.672 and CR 0.05 where the pairwise ratio that was expressed consistent.Keywords: Litter Catcher, Quality Function Deployment, Analytical Hierarchy Process

Abstract

Meatball molding machine is a tool used to shape meatballs automatically by using electric motor power. The design stage is consists of needs analysis, preparation of product technical specifications, design of product concepts to produce alternative product concepts, which are then selected concepts to be made. From the form of the concept to be made, static analysis is carried out on the mechanical components of the meatball molding machine frame, which includes stress, deformation due to loading, safety factor and the number of welded wire. Static analysis was carried out in two ways, namely by manual calculation and finite element analysis using Autodesk Inventor 2016 Student Edition Software. Based on the results of the static analysis, the results of the maximum pressure was 0.5274 MPa on rod 1, 0.7031 MPa on rod 2. Deformation length was equal to 0.008721 mm on rod 1, 0.00116 mm on rod 2. The Safety factor was occurred 43.6 in stem 1, 32.7 in stem 2. The welding wire was used 8.635 sticks. The cutting time of the required frame components was 5.76 minutes. Keywords: meatballs machine, frame, stress, welding

Abstract

Press tool is an equipment that has a working principle of emphasis by cutting, assembling, or a combination of both. The press tool can produce large quantities of production in a short time. Many kinds of products can be produced by a press tool, one of them is a plate hole. The aim of this study was to obtain the design of the press tool and the structural results of the strength analysis. This research is limited by the position machine of the press bending with dimensions of tool length of 250 cm, bottom seat width of 14 cm, seat thickness of 4.5 cm, height between punch of 30 cm, and engine power of 700 kN. A plate that can be done with a width press tool of 90 mm, a punch diameter of 50.8 with a thickness of specimen max 2 mm. This research was conducted a survey data collection then designs the sketches of component, calculation of machine element, analysis of the structural strength, technical drawing and finish. The material used is ST 50 and mild steel test specimens. The results of calculation was obtained by blangking style of 96.7 kN, cutting style of 120.9 kN, depth of cutting side of 6 mm, safety factor of steering of 1.6 and minimum diameter of 11.10 mm, voltage of spring shear 1214.02 MPa, extension of short spring 60 mm and safety factor of 1.29, clearence dies of 0.24 mm, strength of bolt connection with safety factor 0.47. Based on the analysis of structural strength with a force of 160 kN, the material of components of ST 50 that were declared safe.Keywords: press tool, machine element, analysis of structural, and strength

Abstract

Currently the most widely used cutting steel is cutting with oxygen gas, the manual weld cutting makes the cutting result of less appropriate as well as the complicated process. The cutting tool plate is made to facilitate the work especially in the field of construction. In this research aims to design the Oxy-Acetylene automatic plate cutting tool that makes easier of the plate cutting process. In the design process used the Autodesk Inventor 2015 software as well as analysis of structural strength in this design. From the design process, was obtained the output in the form of technical drawings of the automatic plate cutting of Oxy-Acetylene.The analysis process was done in two ways with manual calculations and using Autodesk Inventor 2015. Then from the calculation results were obtained the voltage that occurs on the axis y = 0.908 MPa on the x-axis 0.7334 MPa the deflection occurring on the y-axis = 0.001868 mm and on the axis x = 0.002798 mm.
