Abstract

This study is motivated by the difficulty of leaners to understanding the concept of chemical bonding as a whole. Learning that does not represent submicroscopic level causes leaners difficulty to resolving submicroscopic based chemistry questions. This study aims to describe leaner’s ability in represent the concept of chemical bonding at the submicroscopic level. A qualitative descriptive method used in this study. The participants of the study were 30 leaners XI grade of SMA Negeri 1 Meulaboh. The submicroscopic based test instrument was employed in the study to collect the data. The result of study showed that the leaner’s ability of submicroscopic representation about chemical bonding as a whole falls into the category of enough with a percentage of 58.78%.  The average leaners score is 59.32 included in the criteria of sufficient understanding. Generally, leaners were not able to solve the submicroscopic based questions about chemical bonding as expected. The low ability of submicroscopic representation is due to leaners are not used to describing the ions, electrons, and molecular shapes submicroscopically, understanding of chemical bonding concept that are not yet intact, lack of interest and attention of leaners in receiving concept in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the creativity of the Inpres elementary school teachers in learning science and to build a specific theory based on the components of teachers’ creativity in selecting and using the media in learning science, factors that support teachers' creativity in developing materials, developing methods, and the steps conducted by the school in developing the teachers’ creativity. This research uses a qualitative phenomenologic interpretive by applying naturalistic model of Guba. The determination of research information was done purposively. Subjects of the research were teachers who taught science at grades IV, V, and VI. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation analysis, and were analyzed using the Bogdan model analysis. The data validation was obtained through perseverance of observation and triangulation. The triangulation was done with respect of sources, methods, and theory. Results of this research is in the form of a specific theory that the principal’s idea to improve the academic quality could encourage the teachers’ creativity in the science teaching and learning process at the public elementary school “Inpres Sido". This is in line with the social theory, including the theory of learning development within an institution, namely, that the social institutional changes occurred by developing insight or knowledge.

Abstract

Obeservation results indicated that students have difficulty of explaining chemical phenomena in league level representations (macroscopic, symbolic, and submicroscopic levels). The aim of the study was to obtain the information related to the influence of the use of teaching materials based on multi-level representation of the ability to solve the problem of solution materials of MAN students in Pidie Jaya. The teaching material contained of macroscopic, symbolic, and submicroscopic levels. Type this of research was quasi experiment which was tested in MAN Pidie Jaya. The study was conducted for four months through two stages namely: (1) observasion, (2) implementation. Implementation was carried out by using one-group pre-test design and post-test design. Instruments used consist of; observation sheets, note sheets of learning constraints, assessment and problem solving and representation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The data were obtained them analyzed descriptively. The results showed: (1) the ability chemical problem solving in MAN Ulim Pidie Jaya was increased from the average of 43 pre-test to 73 in post-test result this means that the teaching materials based on multi level representation used can train the ability to solve problem the solution, (2) the profile of students' ability movement during the learning process using teaching materials based on multi level representation increased at one to three meetings, this happened because the fourth meeting material characteristic was more complex, (3) based on student response to the using of teaching materials based on multi level representation was very helpful in training solve chemical problems of solution.

Abstract

Kemampuan peserta didik menjelaskan contoh konsep sangat kurang. Fakta tersebut diperoleh dari hasil pendampingan yang dilakukan oleh Prodi Pendidikan Kimia Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan dengan Madrasyah Aliyah Negeri yang menjadibinaan UIN Ar-raniry Banda Aceh. Berdasarkan fakta di atas peneliti melakukan pengabdian berbasis riset yang dibiayai oleh DIKTIS tahun anggaran 2018. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendesain pembelajaran kimia inovatif dengan melibatkan tiga level representasi kimia. Desain pembelajaran ini, di dalam implementasinya, menggunakan prosedur spesifik, yaitu parafrase, elaborasi, latihan rutin dan nonrutin, dan cek kembali. Prosedur tersebut dirancang untuk melatih peserta didik menganalisis dan menjelaskan konsep. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data terdiri atas lembar validasi, lembar pengamatan pendampingan, lembar pengamatan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran yang dikembangkan, dan tes hasil belajar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan deskripsi kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kuanitatif terdiri atas (a) data hasil validasi desain yang dikembangkan dan (b) data hasil belejar setelah pendampingan implementasi di dalam kelas, sedangkan data yang dianalisis secara kualitatif, yaitu (a) hasil pendampinga nmendesain pembelajaran, (b) hasil pendampingan implementasi di dalam kelas. Berdasarkan hasil progress penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan dapat dikatakan bahwa desain pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dapat membuat peserta didik lebih teliti, terampil dalam menjelaskan konsep kimia, dan sentitif terhadap fenomena kimia.

Abstract

The aim of the article is to develop the science instruction which is oriented in the life skills. The main issues discussed in this writing are life skills, the aim and benefits of the life skills, the school as a better place of instruction, the integration of the the courses, life skills, and the real life, the development of life skills method in science instruction, the suitable method of science instruction for the development of life skills. This article uses documentation approach based on the field phenomenon. Its implication is hoped to increase reader’s view upon the urgent of being professional in education with the life skills competency.

Abstract

The problems obtained by the researcher in Senior High School 5 Takengon Central Aceh show that most students have difficulty solving odd semester exam questions in chemistry learning. This study aims to determine what difficulties students face and what factors cause students to have difficulties. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results obtained indicate that students have difficulty in chemical calculations, exothermic and endothermic reactions, and the concept of chemistry equilibrium; the factors that affect students' difficulties in solving odd semester final exam questions on chemistry are the students', physical condition, students' motivation, and interest and students' low mathematical abilities.

Abstract

Pembelajaran daring merupakan pembelajaran jarak jauh yang memanfaatkan media internet untuk berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi antara pendidik dan peserta didik atas kebijakan dari pemerintah akibat Pandemi Covid-19. Tujuan dari penyusunan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa efektif pembelajaran daring yang dilaksanakan yang telah menimbulkan banyak dilema dan untuk mengetahui pandangan serta persepsi dari peserta didik terkait pembelajaran daring apakah menjadi beban atau batu loncatan yang akan membawa perubahan bagi dunia pendidikan. Artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi dan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Pengamatan dilakukan di MA Al-Mukarrom kepada 22 responden baik laki-laki maupun perempuan dari seluruh kelas. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa pembelajaran daring dirasakan masih menjadi beban peserta didik karena belum optimalnya prosedur dan proses dari alur pelaksanaan pembelajaran daring.
