Abstract

Hospital liquid waste has the potential to pollute the environment and harm health if not processed properly because it contains high enough organic and inorganic compounds, pathogenic microorganisms, toxic chemicals and radioactive substances. Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah (RSUD) Kefamenanu is the only hospital owned by the Government of Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara and located in the middle of community settlements and uses wastewater treatment plants (IPAL) in the treatment of hospital liquid waste since 2016. The results of liquid waste quality examination showed that there are several parameters that have increased after processing through IPAL so that researchers use filtration method in processing liquid waste of RSUD Kefamenanu. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of liquid waste treatment of RSUD Kefamenanu through filtration process using filter media in the form of coconut coir, sand, palm oil, activated charcoal and zeolite. This research is a pseudo experiment, namely to find out the percentage of decreased levels of liquid waste parameters through the filtration process. The results showed that the levels after processing had an average value of BOD 3.86 mg/L, TSS 14 mg/L and ammonia of 0.10 mg/L. The filtration process was able to lower BOD levels by 63.62%, TSS by 93.24% and ammonia by 86.57%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the filtration process is able to lower levels of BOD, TSS and ammonia in liquid waste of RSUD Kefamenanu.

Abstract

The objectives of this research was to examine the efficacy of red betel extract ointment to eritrogram profiles in infected sheep myiasis. Fifteen female sheeps were divided into five treatments, which were sheep without wound, treated with asuntol 2%, without any treatment,with red betel leaf extract ointment 2% and 4 %. Three incision wounds were made on the sheep’s back, 50 larvae given to every wounds to four treatment, except the healthy sheep (K). Blood was taken on the 0, 3th and 7th to determine erythrocytes counts, hematocrit values (PCV) and hemoglobin levels (Hb). The result showed that oitment of red betel leaf extract do not change the erythrogram profiles. The administration of red betel leaf extract ointment 4% has better eritrogram profiles than 2% Oitment of red betel leaf extract can be used as myasis therapy.

Abstract

The leading cause of malnutrition in NTT province is the lack of balanced nutrition, one of which is macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. So, there is a need for innovation from livestock products rich in readily available animal protein, one of which is chicken. Utilization of the results of heating technology Moringa leaf flour which is rich in micro and macronutrients is available in the province of NTT, so that it can provide processed products in the form of chicken sausage chips with the addition of Moringa leaf flour. This study aims to determine the effect of adding Moringa leaf flour P0, P1, P2, and P3 on chicken sausage chips' chemical characteristics and nutritional value. Each treatment P0 Moringa leaf flour (0%), P1 Moringa leaf flour (1%), P2 Moringa leaf flour (2%), P3 Moringa leaf flour (3%). The experimental method used is a simple, completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. Analysis of the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) data and Duncan's further test, while the nutritional value content was calculated according to BPOM regulation NO 19 of 2019 concerning Nutrition Label Reference. The results showed that the addition of Moringa leaf flour had a significant effect on the chemical characteristics of P<0.05. According to the National Food and Drug Administration Agency (BPOM), for appropriate nutritional content, information on the nutritional value of chicken sausage chips.

Abstract

This research has been conducted in the District Amarasi Kupang district to obtain liquid smoke coconut shell, Bogor Agricultural Institute Laboratory tested compounds benzo[a]pirene.dan total bacteria in meat, an integrated research laboratory distillation liquid smoke Undana perform and get the value of organoleptic and agricultural polytechnic Laboratory Kupang test the chemical quality beef cattle se'i Bali. The research was conducted over 2 months ie April 26 until June 26, 2016. This study aims to determine the content benzo[a]pirene. lowest in liquid smoke coconut shell by doing some distillation processes to be applied to the meat of cattle se'i Bali. The material used is coconut shell as much as 20 kg, 5 kg of fresh beef taken on the part of the muscle. The basic design is used, a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 repetitions so obtained 18 experimental units. Data was analyzed using non-parametric analysis of Kruskal Wallis test and analysis methods Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If there are differences among the treatments then continued by Least Significant Difference (LSD). The results showed: Total Bacteria contained in meat P≤0,05 se'i not significantly different from the treatment of liquid smoke to the meat using traditional se'i P0. 6,6x106 P1. 6,2x106 P2. 5,4x106 P3. 1,7x106 P4. 4,46x103 P5. 3,0x103 while the chemical quality beef cattle se'i P≤0,01 Bali very significant effect of each treatment. conclusion on the research is: the more the percentage of liquid smoke, the number of bacteria in the cow se'i diminishing and the average chemical quality beef cattle se'i Bali will increase.

Abstract

Tulisan mendeskripsikan pengetahuan masyarakat sasaran sosialisasi tentang implementasi kesrawan dan praktik higiene/sanitasi penyembelihan hewan qurban di Kota Kupang setelah mendapatkan penyuluhan dan pelatihan oleh tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Nusa Cendana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey pada populasi yang diintervensi dengan penyuluhan dan pelatihan dengan menggunakan metode pre test dan post test. Peserta penyuluhan dan pelatihan kesrawan dan higiene daging qurban di Masjid Al Mujahidin Penfui dan Masjid Darul Hijrah Kolhua, Kota Kupang (masing-masing 15 orang), yaitu. Soal pretest dan posttest sebanyak 20 pertanyaan benar dan salah. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan Microsoft Excel. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan kesrawan dan praktik higiene bagi panitia qurban di kedua masjid berhasil meningkatkan skor pemahaman peserta tentang aspek kesrawan dan praktik higiene dan sanitasi dalam menangani hewan dan daging qurban sebesar 47,5% dan 40,2%. Pemahaman tersebut penting sebagai landasan sikap dan tindakan dalam menghasilkan daging qurban yang aman, sehat, utuh dan halal.

Abstract

The procedure for handling sacrificed animals has been regulated in Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture - Republic of Indonesia No. 114/Permentan/PD.410/9/2014. This research aims to describe the procedure of slaughter of qurban animals in Kupang City in relation to the provision of safe, health, intact, and halal meat (ASUH). This study is a descriptive study conducted through observation and interviews with qurban committee 1438H (2017M) at two mosques in Kupang City. Assessment is done on how to produce ASUH meat. There are fifteen aspects that are qualitatively assessed, 1 point if fulfilled and 0 if not fulfilled. Total of fulfillment points was then made in a percentage. The hygiene and sanitation practice of qurban slaughter at Al Mujahidin Mosque-Penfui and Darul Hijrah Mosque-Kolhua of Kupang City is quite good with a value of 10/15 (66.67%). Some things that need to be improved are the limitation of personnel with trained people. Meat processing facilities that need to be added is table and basket for meat storage.
