Abstract

Khanduri Apam is one of the traditions or custom of banquets that has been passed down from generation to generation among the Acehnese, especially in Pidie Regency. The banquet was carried out by consuming local Aceh culinary, namely Apam cake (Serabi Cake in Bahasa) along with Aceh's typical tuhe sauce. As a society that is thick with Islamic values, Khanduri Apam was held with the aim of welcoming the month of Rajab as well as commemorating the Isra' Mi'raj event of the Prophet Muhammad Saw. Khanduri Apam is routinely held every seventh month in the Aceh calendar system, or what is known as Buleun Apam which is equivalent to Rajab Month in the Hijri Calendar. This study aims to describe the representation of theological values ​​contained in the implementation of the Khanduri Apam tradition among the people of Ulee Tutue Raya Village, Delima District, Pidie Regency, Aceh Province. The research method used is descriptive analytical qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The determination of informants is done by purposive sampling technique. The results of the study show that Khanduri Apam represents 5 theological values, namely: 1) divine values ​​(worship, alms); 2) social values ​​(togetherness, cooperation, tolerance); 3) spiritual value (commemorating Isra 'Mi'raj); 4) ritual values ​​(remembering and praying for the spirits); and 5) intellectual values ​​(preserving customs as well as local cuisine). Regarding the representation of intellectual values, Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan of Pidie Regency also participated by instructing all schools in Pidie Regency, from kindergarten, elementary, to junior high education levels, to hold Khanduri Apam in the school environment as an effort to maintain the continuity of this tradition among the younger generations, so that they can recognize and maintain these traditions in the midst of the onslaught of contemporary culinary. The Khanduri Apam tradition has a rooted relevance to Islamic religious values ​​which are considered not contrary to Islamic Sharia Law. So that the dialectic of Islam with cultural realities will continue to be intertwined with the values ​​of Islamic theology throughout its history.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the position of reason in the Quran and philosophers point of view. As a qualitative study, research uses data from reading material available in libraries. The materials obtained were analyzed systematically so that the data could be justified. Intellect has a function of thinking and a tool to examine everything that is needed by humans. Reason as a reflection of the human rational soul has special powers that are not possessed by plants and animals. Human reason not only has rational power, it also has elements of "malakuti" and Divine, because in the mind there is soul and spirit. As a spiritual organ, and also the heart (qalb) it is very possible for humans not only to communicate with spiritual beings, but also to navigate the attributes of prophets, angels and divinities that are not possible by any creation in this world.

Abstract

Islam in Western thought has a very bad brand image and relative image. One Orientalist named Daniel W. Brown criticized the hadith and sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad for their nonconformity with textual and contextual passages. The study aimed to find out specifically about Brown's understanding of Hadith and Sunnah, factors that influenced Brown in criticizing both. The method approach chosen in this study is the qualitative method, while the data used is sourced from literature studies in the form of works written by Brown himself and other people's works on Brown's work and thoughts. The results of the study mentioned that Brown is an orientalist who is an expert in the field of historians who explore and study hadith and Sunnah using data, and the propositions of the Qur'an and hadith. Brown criticized the Sunnah and hadith not for personal gain or by order, but he criticized them because he was an expert in history. Brown mentioned found two tendencies of understanding the content in hadith, namely, the restriction of traditionalist and modern scriptures.

Abstract

The friction between madhhabs in Aceh, especially between the Ahlisunnah Wal Jamaah (Aswaja) and Wahabi have become increasingly sharp in recent decades. Religious tolerance in Aceh has suffered a setback with the existence of various religious incidents such as the expulsion of preachers, seizure of mosque control, burning of mosque foundations. The Aswaja party is dominated by ulama Dayah (Islamic school scholars) and their followers, while the Wahabi party is aimed at campus Islamic scholars, especially those with Middle Eastern backgrounds. In response to these findings, PTAI (Perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam/Islamic Higher Education) in Aceh offered various solutions. UIN Ar-Raniry seeks to bring together Ulama Dayah and campus scholars to carry out dialogue and consensus. IAIN Langsa prefers not to be involved in the Aswaja and Wahabi conflicts because they consider the friction of madhhab in Aceh is not purely a religious issue, but rather a political one. STAIN Dirundeng Meulaboh is more inclined to the Aswaja and so is the Al-Muslim Bireuen Campus considering having leaders from the Muhammadiyah circle.

Abstract

Every religion has its own uniqueness, that distinguish between one religion to another religion. However, the religions have many similarities as well as the great potential that can be developed to build the state and nation. Religious pluralism, in essence, contains the potential of the conflict, as well as containing the potential to build cooperative relationships. It lies the importance of religious life arrangement within a community or country. The dialogue is an important part in problem solving, and is deemed able to solve various problems of religious life, as long as the dialogue participants were able to show the attitude of tolerance and mutual respect.

Abstract

Among scientists, works to invent a comprehensive religious concept for all human beings are still underway. In a literal sense, there are various constraints in formulating the concept of religion in order to be completely accepted by all circles. Some of which are obstacles related to the sacredness of religious meanings and constraints due to the inner feelings of the adherents. In accordance with religion's function, scientists agree that religion has a key role in constructively managing human life. By employing the literature study method, this article, therefore, seeks to explain the problems faced by scientists in the field of social studies in formulating the concept of religion, then present a solution in order to reinterpret the concept of religion by referring to the term “al-Islam” in the Quran which generates some elements applied as a foundation or the basis in explaining the concept of religion comprehensively. These attempts are considered to integrate between science and religion simultaneously and to shatter their domain of dichotomy. AbstrakUpaya perumusan konsep agama yang komprehensif bagi seluruh ummat manusia masih terus berlangsung dikalangan para ilmuwan. Secara terminologis, terdapat beragam kendala dalam merumuskan konsep agama agar dapat diterima sepenuhnya oleh seluruh kalangan. Beberapa diantaranya adalah kendala yang berhubungan dengan kesakralan makna agama dan kendala yang menyangkut perasaan bathiniyah dari para penganutnya. Sementara terkait fungsi dari agama, para ilmuwan sepakat jika agama memiliki peran penting dalam menata kehidupan manusia secara positif. Artikel ini, melalui metode kajian studi kepustakaan, berupaya untuk memaparkan problematika para ilmuwan sosial dalam merumuskan konsep agama, kemudian menawarkan solusi untuk dapat melakukan reinterpretasi konsep agama dengan merujuk pada term al-Islam dalam Alquran guna menghasilkan beberapa unsur yang dapat dijadikan fondasi atau landasan dasar dalam menjelaskan konsep agama secara komprehensif. Abstract

Ahlu al-Kitab has become one of the unique concepts in Islam. Islam  acknow-ledges the holy books and the ummah prior to Islam. This  acknowledgement does not means that all religions are the similar to all aspects.  Since each religion has its distinct creeds, rituals and code of conducts, all  religions are to respect and tolerate each other. Through respect and tolerance, all  religions can cooperate and solve problems of religious, social, political and  cultural issues emerging in their ummah. This is what calls religious pluralism concept that aims to built a harmonious and peaceful community, the community  with pluralistic beliefs, but united to handle the problems of its people.

Abstract

Islam is a universal religion that regulates all aspects of life, including teachings about religious harmony. Normatively, the Koran has included verses related to religious pluralism, multiculturalism and tolerance of religious life. Historically the Medina pajamas are historical witnesses that the Prophet laid the foundation and became an example in living a life of different religions and cultures. For Muslims in Indonesia the elimination of seven words in the Jakarta pajamas is a tangible form of inter-religious harmony shown by Muslims. Likewise with the Confucian religion, there are teachings that can lead its adherents to live in harmony with other religions, among the teachings or five noble characteristics of Wu Chang, which are seen as the concept of teachings that can create a harmonious life. The two religions generally maintain harmony with each other, but in particular there are often misunderstandings such as reality shows that there are not a few actions that deviate from the values of tolerance. The method in this discussion uses a library research (library research), with a qualitative approach. The results of this discussion illustrate that Islam and Confucianism positively support the existence of tolerance between religious communities and the government. Furthermore, religious tolerance has limits that must be maintained and respected, for example in the form of the social interests of the two teachings, while regarding the creed, both are not allowed to tolerate. The similarity of tolerance according to both is the harmony of life between religious communities, which is something that is mentioned in the Al-Quran and the book of Lun Yu. Like mutual respect, please help and be fair to every people. Meanwhile, what distinguishes religious tolerance is that Islam does not allow marriage to a non-Muslim, while Confucianism allows marriage to people of different religions

Abstract

Islam in Western thought has a very bad brand image and relative image. One western figure named Voltaire included an orientalist who insulted the Prophet Muhammad and the religion of Islam. The study aimed to find out specifically about Voltaire's understanding of the Prophet Muhammad and the religion of Islam, factors that influenced Voltaire in committing insults. The approach of the method chosen in this study is qualitative method, while the data used is sourced from literature review in the form of works written by Voltaire himself and the works of others on the work and thoughts of Voltaire. The results of the study said Voltaire initially hated Islam by mentioning the nascent religion and also called the Prophet Muhammad as a perverted many marrying women, girls and widows. Voltaire's reason for doing so was that he wanted to criticize the church's inappropriate policies through the issue of insulting Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. At the end of his history Voltaire upheld the tolerance of Islam and did not exist in Protestantism that is, Caliph Umar allowed Jews and Christians full freedom of conscience after the conquest of Jerusalem.AbstrakAgama Islam dalam pemikiran Barat mempunyai brand image dan citra relatif yang sangat buruk. Salah satu tokoh Barat yang bernama Voltaire termasuk seorang orientalis yang menghina Nabi Muhammad dan agama Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui secara khusus tentang pemahaman Voltaire terhadap Nabi Muhammad dan agama Islam dan faktor yang mempengaruhi Voltaire dalam melakukan penghinaan. Pendekatan metode yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Adapun data yang digunakan bersumber dari telaah kepustakaan berupa karya-karya yang ditulis sendiri oleh Voltaire dan karya-karya orang lain terhadap karya dan pemikiran Voltaire. Hasil penelitian menyebutkan Voltaire pada awalnya membenci Islam dengan menyebut agama yang baru lahir dan Nabi Muhammad sebagai seorang yang mesum dan menikah dengan  banyak perempuan, baik gadis maupun janda. Alasan Voltaire berpendapat demikian karena dia ingin mengkritik kebijakan-kebijakan gereja yang tidak sesuai, menurutnya melalui isu menghina Islam dan Nabi Muhammad. Pada akhir hidupnya, Voltaire menjunjung tinggi toleransi yang ada pada agama Islam dan tidak ada pada agama Protestan seperti Khalifah Umar mengizinkan kebebasan dalam pelaksanaan agamanya bagi orang beragama Yahudi dan orang beragama Kristen, hal ini terjadi setelah penaklukkan Yerusalem.
