Abstract

Vocabulary is one important aspect of learning a foreign language. With a limited vocabulary, anyone will also have a limited understanding. Learning vocabulary therefore is perceived important. However, EFL learners often have a limited acces to learn vocabualary. With the growing of technological uses in language teaching, this study aims at unveil the level of students’ interest in learning vocabulary through Instagram. The quantitative approach therefore is used in this study. The study involves 49 senior high school students of SMAN 1 Palopo. The findings indicate that that the average score of students’ interest in learning vocabulary through Instagram is 67,58. The highest percentage of the result is 44.41% that indicates that the students of SMAN 1 Palopo are interested in learning vocabulary through Instagram.

Abstract

Previous studies have shown that the implementation of Lesson Study can give a good impact on both teachers and students. Lesson Study can help them binding up as a Learning Community in order to improve their self-development in teaching and learning. In addition, teachers and students prefer Lesson Study to be a sustainable activity in school. However, although Lesson Study has given a positive value on its practices, it does not mean that there are no challenges. The main purpose of this study is trying to reveal the challenges faced by the model teacher while implementing of Lesson Study practices. This study was a descriptive study, where the data were collected by interviewing 11 model teachers who teach in four different schools. The interview is given after conducting Lesson Study practices that cover three phases: PLAN, DO and SEE. The findings reveal that most of the model teachers faced challenges in PLAN phase and DO phase. In PLAN phase, model teachers stated that they find it difficult to develop Chapter Design because they did not understand well how to put their idea. They also find it difficult to adapt what they have written in Chapter Design and their activity when doing Open Class. In DO phase, most of model teachers stated that basically Lesson Study has a big impact in increasing their students’ understanding about learning materials, but the students were not active enough in the teaching and learning process. It means that the model teachers have to do a bigger effort to make their students more active in the classroom activities.

Abstract

This paper describes the performance and the weaknesses of the English learning media created by student of English Education Study Program and applied at SMP Negeri 8 Palopo. This English learning media can improve the students’ vocabulary and the teacher and students of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo give positive response toward this English learning media but still there are many suggestions to the author. After analysing this media, it is found that the performance of this media have weaknesses such as: the material, exercise, pronunciation, and picture.

Abstract

Lesson Study for Learning Community was held by applying Magang Based Lesson Study at Universitas Cokroaminoto Palopo. There were ten Students collaborated with 4 lecturers and 4 teachers. Those teachers are the teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Palopo, SMP Negeri 2 Palopo, SMP Cokroaminoto Palopo, and a teacher at SMA Negeri 6 Palopo. This paper aimed is describing the students’ activities in learning by teaching and how they prepare their class. The research question of this paper is what are the students’ activities in preparing their class? How do the students’ prepare their class? What Lesson learned found in Magang Based Lesson Study? In answering the research question, the researcher conducted a research in a year by participating in learning community. Although this research has not finished yet, she describes that the students who conducted Magang prepared their class by learning how do their students learn. After that, they discussed it by collaborating with lecturers at Universitas Cokroaminoto Palopo. In doing teaching in classroom, the rest of the students observed the students’ way in learning. It is about when do the students start to focus on studying, how did they learn collaboratively with their groups.

Abstract

Meningkatnya jumlah kasus penularan Virus Corona dari hari ke hari menimbulkan banyak perubahan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan salah satunya dalam pelayanan publik. Untuk itu melalui kegiatan ini tentunya sangat penting untuk memberikan pelatihan bagi mereka yang berada dalam lingkup pelayanan publik tersebut tentang Pelatihan dan Pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi untuk mendukung koordinasi kerja para aparatur desa di era pandemi Covid-19 tersebut. Kegiatan ini dilaksanaan selama dua hari di Kantor Desa Jenne Maeja Kecamatan Ponrang Selatan Kabupaten Luwu. Dalam pelaksanaanya ada tiga materi yang disampaikan yaitu peltihan penggunaan Google Dokumen, Google Form dan Aplikasi Zoom Meeting. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk membekali para aparatur desa agar dapat tetap berkoordinasi secara maksimal meskipun ditengah suasana seperti ini. Melalui pengabdiaan ini ditemukan bahwa kegiatan seperti ini sangatlah bermanfaat guna mengembangkan kemampuan aparatur desa dalam mengunakan aplikasi terbaru. Banyaknya proses administrasi yang dilakukan dalam proses pelayanan ke masyarakat menuntut mereka agar memiliki keterampilan dalam penggunaan teknologi informasi sehingga dapat meningkatkan kinerja dalam memberikan pelayanan prima ke masyarakat.  Abstract. The increasing number of cases of Corona Virus transmission from day to day has caused many changes in various aspects of life, one of which is in public services. For this reason, through this activity, it is of course very important to provide training for those within the scope of public services regarding Training and Utilization of Information and Communication Technology to support the coordination of the work of village apparatus in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity was carried out for two days at the Jenne Maeja Village Office, South Ponrang District, Luwu Regency. In its implementation, three materials were presented, namely training on the use of Google Documents, Google Forms and the Zoom Meeting Application. This training aims to equip village officials to be able to coordinate optimally even in the midst of an atmosphere like this. Through this service it was found that activities like this were very useful in developing the ability of village apparatus to use the latest applications. The large number of administrative processes carried out in the service process to the community requires them to have skills in the use of information technology so that they can improve performance in providing excellent service to the community.
