Abstract

Introduction: Employee performance is one factor that plays an essential role in achieving company and individual goals. Objective: The study aimed to determine the determinant factors associated with employees’ performance in the Tamansari Public Hospital. Method: A cross-sectional study was applied in this study. We involved the 153 people who were randomly selected using systematic random sampling. Results: The results of this study indicated that workability and work environment was a positive association with the performance among employment in Tamansari Hospital. However, work motivation was not associated with employees’ performance. The training programs needed to improve the motivation and ability through ESQ or mental-spiritual training. The routine performance evaluations need to conduct regularly for all employees by involving Kasatpel and coordinators. Recommendation: Further study needs to conduct the study with a higher total sample using the structural equation model to confirm the factors associated with working performance

Abstract

Background. Nurse performance is an important factor in hospitals. Studies on nurse performance are required to improve the quality of hospital services. Objective. This study aims to determine the effect of physical and mental workloads on nurse performance, with burnout as an intervening factor. Method: This associative quantitative research uses primary data obtained through a survey of nurses at the inpatient unit of Bhakti Asih General Hospital, Tangerang. The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 84 nurses using a modification of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration – Task Load Index, Maslach Burnout Inventory – Human Services Survey, and Individual Work Performance Questionnaire. The variables were analyzed using the path analysis method. Results: The results show no significant effect of physical and mental workloads on nurse performance, with burnout as an intervening factor. There was a negative significant effect of physical workload on nurse performance (? = -0.309, sig. = 0.004), as well as mental workload on nurse performance (? = -0.340, sig. = 0.009). There was a positive significant effect of physical workload on burnout (? = 0.267, sig. = 0.002), as well as mental workload on burnout (? = 0.607, sig. = 0.000). There was no significant effect of burnout on nurse performance (? = -0.159, sig. = 0.224). Conclusion: In conclusion that physical and mental workload impact on nurses’ performance

Background. Work engagement is a positive feeling, motivation, and work related to a psychological state characterized by enthusiasm, dedication, and appreciation. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of leadership, organizational climate, and the level of maturity of patient safety culture simultaneously or individually on nurses' work engagement. Method: This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory causality research design. Collecting data was collected using a questionnaire and tested using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. Results: The results found that leadership, organizational climate, and the level of maturity of patient safety culture simultaneously and partially affected work engagement. However, leadership somewhat affects work engagement, while organizational climate and maturity level of patient safety culture does not affect work engagement. Conclusion and Recommendation: This research helps hospital management in developing a policy system for making regulations that can be started from the bottom up, with nurses being involved in easy decision-making as well as completing standard operating procedures in their work units
