Abstract

Abstrak: Sejak pandemi COVID-19, kebutuhan hand sanitizer semakin meningkat. Peluang tersebut harus segera dimanfaatkan oleh kelompok petani lontar di Dusun Popoloe melaui nira lontar yang dihasilkan oleh petani. Karena kurangnya pengetahuan, sehingga selama ini, petani hanya memanfaatkan air nira tersebut menjadi minuman tradisional beralkohol (ballo). Padahal air nira melalui proses penyulingan akan menjadi ethanol/alkohol yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan dasar produksi hand sanitizer. Oleh sebab itu tujuan kegiatan ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani lontar dalam melakukan penyulingan nira lontar menjadi alkohol sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan produk hand sanitizer. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui metode pelatihan yaitu edukasi dan simulasi kepada petani lontar di dusun popoloe yang berjumlah 12 petani. Evaluasi yang dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner dengan hasil dari 2 (16%) peserta yang memiliki pengetahuan baik, menjadi 12 (100%) peserta telah memiliki pengetahuan yang baik dalam melakukan penyulingan. Hal tersebut berarti perlunya pelatihan-pelatihan dilaksanakan secara simultan untuk meningkatkan potensi petani lontar.Abstract: Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for hand sanitizers has increased. This opportunity must be immediately taken advantage of by the lontar farmer group in Popoloe Hamlet through the lontar sap produced by farmers. Due to lack of knowledge, so far, farmers only use the sap water into traditional alcoholic drinks (ballo). Even though sap water through the distillation process will become ethanol/alcohol which can be used as a basic material for the production of hand sanitizers. Therefore, the purpose of this activity is to provide training to farmers to distill palm sap into alcohol that can be produced as the basic material for hand sanitizer products. This activity was carried out through training methods, namely education and simulation to lontar farmers in Popoloe hamlet, totaling 12 farmers. The evaluation was conducted using a questionnaire with the results of 2 (16%) participants who had good knowledge, to 12 (100%) participants who had good knowledge in distilling. This means the need for trainings to be carried out simultaneously to increase the potential of palm oil farmers.
