Abstract

Based on PISA results, Indonesian students' reading scores are ranked 72 out of 77 participating countries. This minimal ability certainly needs to be overcome, one of which is by increasing the competence of teachers in schools. a total of 40 participants from various regions participated in this service activity which came from various levels, namely elementary, junior high, high school, and vocational school. Agenda for providing materials related to AKM and PISA-based learning designs and evaluation of activities. Based on the evaluation, it was seen that the workshop participants showed a good category attitude through being creative, cooperative, and independent. This AKM and PISA-oriented Learning Design Workshop has benefits for both the participants and the service team. Based on the results of the evaluation in terms of audio and video quality, the material presented by the resource persons, the method of presenting the material and the use of the language of the service team, the workshop was carried out well

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to improve teachers' understanding of STEAM learning. The problem faced by teachers is the lack of information on how to choose the context of STEAM learning, lack of event of sharing session with teachers who have implemented STEAM to teachers who want to carry out innovative learning. Teachers need training on STEAM based on the evaluation form that has been shared by the team before the STEAM workshop is held. It aims to identify problems, determine problem solutions, and determine the timing of activities. The stage of implementation of activities is carried out in the form of a model of lectures, discussions, and assignments. The material provided includes the definition of STEAM, STEAM social context and followed by sharing sessions by teachers who have implemented STEAM learning in schools. The result of this community service is that teachers can design learning evidenced by STEAM-based learning design tasks that have been collected by 24 teachers in google classroom. Participants' response to the implementation of activities is very good, participants hope that this kind of activity can be re-organized for the future.

Abstract

At this time students must be introduced to learning mathematics that is meaningful, fun and not boring. Through STEAM learning, teachers can create learning that is directly related to everyday life so as to create fun learning that can increase student motivation to learn. This study aims to find out and describe how a STEAM approach based on local content can make mathematics meaningful and fun. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that there are several cultural riches in the Donggala district that can be explored and used as alternative media for learning mathematics, including banava batik with coffee motifs, clove motifs and traditional motifs. Integrating local content in the STEAM approach can show students that mathematics is not an abstract thing that has no relevance to life, but is very closely related to real life. This learning will make mathematics which is abstract and tends to be boring become more real for students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difficulty of teachers in implementing learning that focuses on improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The study was a descriptive study. Data were collected via an online form that included open-ended questions. Data were collected from 93 mathematics teachers. Data were analyzed by coding qualitative data using spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel. The categories were derived from the participants’ own words or phrases. The results showed that 81.2 percent of respondents stated that the difficulty teachers experience to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities is the lack of motivation and disengagement of students and other difficulties. This research also presents alternative solutions that can be practiced by teachers in their respective classes.

Abstract

This article examined the English numeration conditions in the elementary school in Duyu, Palu, Central Sulawesi where the lack of learning media for numerical development. This highlights the need to combine visual learning approaches, such as the use of pictures related to numbers, to facilitate numerical mastery. While numeration is vital to life, many students still face the challenge of learning numeration and especially in English. The study involves qualitative descriptive methods. The purpose of this study is to find out the role of digital books and the impact they have on numerical cultures in today's era. The study suggests that the use of illustrated digital books has a positive effect on the ability to understand arithmetic. Students involved in illustrated digital books show an increased understanding of numbers, as interactive features and multimedia elements provide context, support, and involvement during the learning process. The integration of digital books means to improve student literacy not only enhances reading comprehension and language development but also tackles urgent problem of alignment and access to education.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the types of errors made by students in solving matrix problems. The subjects in this research were three students of class XI MIPA SMA 5 Palu who were divided into three categories based on their level of mathematical ability, namely students with high, medium, and low mathematics ability. The selection of these three students was based on students report cards which were categorized into three types, namely high, medium and low, which were then selected through considerations, namely students who were able to take part in the entire of data collection activities carried out by researchers as well as considerations from mathematics subject at the school. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by administering written tests and interviews. The results of this research show that students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Palu made mistakes in solving questions (1) high mathematics ability students made conceptual mistakes, namely students were wrong in writing the concept of matrix multiplication that had different orders. (2) students with moderate mathematics ability made procedural errors, namely students were wrong in carrying out the steps of solving the problem and students in solving the problem did not reach that students do not write the sign of mathematical operations that should be used. (3) students with low mathematics ability made conceptual errors, namely students did not solve the problems given, only rewrote the matrix members. Procedural errors, namely students are not careful in understanding the question instruction so that the steps for solving the problem are not appropriate and students do not solve the problem until the final stage. Technical errors, namely students are wrong in doing calculations so that the students answers do not match the alternative answers. This research is highly recommended for other researchers to explore further because the coverage of the matrix material is quite broad so researchers cannot discuss everything in this research and there are many more reviews that need to be analyzed through this material.
