Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis, hereinafter abbreviated as pulmonary TB, is an infectious disease caused by a group of acid-resistant bacteria, namely Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pulmonary TB is also still a major health problem in Banjar District, South Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. This research is a descriptive study that aims to identify spatial and temporal clusters of pulmonary TB cases in Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency during 2020 – 2021. The statistical retrospective space-time scan with a Poisson probability model was performed to analyzed the data. The spatial units analyzed in this study included 26 villages in Karang Intan District, with a time unit of 2 years, namely 2020 – 2021. The results of the analysis show that there were 3 clusters of pulmonary TB detected and spread across 26 villages in Karang Intan District. There were 2 clusters in 2020, and 1 cluster in 2021. The transmission of pulmonary TB clusters during 2020-2021 was mostly found in areas with relatively medium or high population density. However, the three detected clusters show a P-value > 0,05 which indicates that the clusters are not statistically significant.

Abstract

Kata kunci: sampah; pengelolaan sampah; pemilahan sampah; pemanfaatan sampah; tempat sampah sistem pilah Abstract Waste management remains an unresolved environmental health issue to date. In Banjar Regency, the average waste generation over the past two years has been 148,944 tons, with an estimated daily production of 408 tons per day in 2022. Based on community diagnosis results, the emerging issue in Tiwingan Lama Village, RT 02, Aranio District, Banjar Regency is inadequate waste management by the community. The alternative solution to address this waste management issue is through an empowerment program involving education, the construction of waste bins from recycled barrels, and the installation of visual promotional media such as banners encouraging waste sorting. The objective of these activities is to minimize environmental health issues, particularly regarding waste management. The methods employed include lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations. The activity instruments include pre- and post-test questionnaires, observation sheets, and interview questionnaires for 7 respondents during the advanced knowledge monitoring. The results indicate that after the education sessions, there was an increase in community knowledge from an average of 70 to 90. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test revealed a significant difference in knowledge before and after the education sessions, with a test value of 0.027. The follow-up monitoring showed an increase in the number of respondents categorized as having good knowledge, from 1 person in the post-test to 6 people in the third monitoring session. In the waste bin provision activity using a sorting system, the village community, along with the youth organization, successfully constructed waste bins with sorting systems, which led to the duplication of waste bin procurement. Additionally, the installation of banners promoting waste sorting was successful in influencing the community to engage in waste sorting. Keywords: waste; waste management; waste sorting; waste utilization; segregated waste bins
