Abstract

This study concerns with the analysis of slang in Eminem’s song lyrics. This study proposes problem are What types of slang language are used in Eminem’s song lyrics?, and What are the meaning of those slang language used Eminem’s song lyrics?. Hopefully, this study will be useful for students of English Department, especially to help them understand slang language. Moreover, the purpose of this study is to find out the types of slang that is used by Eminem’s lyrics. Therefore, this analysis used descriptive method because it is to describe the meaning of slang language in Eminem song lyrics of slang language in them. The data were taken randomly, that there are ten song lyrics. Then, in this study the procedure used in the data collection are: (1) reading and comprehending the lyrics; (2) identifying the slang words used in the lyrics; (3) Marking the slang words found in the lyrics; (4) finding and classifying the meaning of the slang words. Based on the find, the writer found that there are five types of slang. There are cockney slang, society slang, workmen’s slang, and public house slang, slang in public school and university.

Abstract

The problem of this research was to find out whether or not there was any significant difference between the students who are taught using humanizing the classroom method and those who are taught using conventional method. And the methodology of the research used experimental method, by quasi-design. Meanwhile, the population was the tenth-grade students of MA NU Sumber Agung OKU Timur, Sumatera Selatan. It consists of 60 students, used purposive sampling technique. And there were 42 students as a sample of this research. In collecting the data, the researchers used the written test as the instrument to obtain the students' ability in writing descriptive text. And for analyzing the data using independent t-test. The data distribution was considered normal. It was proved by statistics calculation of normality test which shows that < or 9,72 < 11,07 in experimental class and < or 2,99 < 11,07 in control class. Then, based on the calculation of homogeneity test the data variant was homogeneous. It was found that F-obt > F- table (157 > 2.08). Meanwhile based on the result of the statistics calculation using independent t-test found that t-out = 7.69, it was higher than t-table = 2.02. it meant that there was any significant difference between the students who are taught using humanizing the classroom method and those who are taught using conventional method.

Abstract

This study concerns with the A Semantic Analysis of Michael Learns to Rock's (MLTR) Songs. This study proposes problems are 1) what are the lexical meanings in the lyrics of Michael Learns to Rock's (MLTR) songs?, 2)What are the contextual meanings in the lyrics of Michael Learns to Rock's (MLTR)? The purpose of this study is to find out the lexical and contextual meaning that is used by Michael Learns to Rock's song lyrics. Therefore, this analysis used the descriptive method because it is to describe the lexical and contextual meaning in MLTR's song lyrics. There are five songs lyrics. Then, in this study, the procedure used in the data collection are (1) reading and comprehending the lyrics; (2) identifying the words used in the lyrics; (3) Marking and finding the meaning of the words found in the lyrics; (4) concluding the data analysis. Based on the finding, the writers found two kinds of meanings used in Michael Learns to Rock's Songs lyrics. They are lexical and contextual meaning used in the lyrics of Michael Learns to Rock's songs. They are 1) Paint My Love consists of 3 words; years, crazy and paint. 2) Sleeping Child consists of 4 words; Milky Way, paradise, cover, and hold. 3) That's Why (You go away) consists of 4 words; Left, thing, man and way. 4) Love will never Lie consists of 4 words; Run-down, road, lie and hear. 5) 25 Minutes consists of 4 words; Girl, done, hungry, and hear.

Abstract

This objective of this study was to know whether or not there are any significant differences between the students who are taught by using Diary media and the students who are taught by using conventional". And for the study was quantitative research by using an experimental method and quasi-experimental design. Moreover, the population of the study covered the entire of the tenth-grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 02 Karang Tengah in academic year 2017/2018. It consists of 160 students. And the technique sampling was chosen by purposive sampling. There were two groups they are the experimental group(X-A2) with 32 students and the control group( X-S1) consists of 32 students. In this study, the writer used a written test as an instrument for collecting the data. The data obtained from Independent t-test analysis, between the result of posttest in the experimental group and control group. Based on the calculation by using Independent t-test, the writer found that t obtained was higher than t table (3,531 > 2,000) and less than at the significant level α = 0.05(0.001 < 0.05) in a two-tailed test. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that any significant differences between the students who are taught by using Diary media and the students who are taught by using conventional media.

Abstract

This study concerns with the "An Analysis of Imperative Sentences of The Martian Movie And Their Subtitling". This study purposes problems are What the types of Imperative Sentence on the Martian Movie and their subtitling?. The main objective of this study is to know the imperative sentence of the martian movie and its subtitling. Therefore, this analysis used a descriptive qualitative method, documentation technique is used in collecting the data. By this method, the writer uses the subtitling of The Martian movie as the source of data. Based on the findings, the writer found that there are 2 types of imperative sentences, namely; (1) positive imperative sentence consisting of 70 data or 84.33%, and (2) negative imperative sentence consisting of 13 data or 15.67%. The most occurred was a positive imperative sentence consisting of 70 data or 84.33%.

Abstract

This study is an analysis of sentence structure by using a syntactic approach that portrayed in the tree diagram. This study focused only on the discussion covering the identification of types of sentence and sentence structure. It was found that there are 191 sentences from the six selected text in the textbook consisting of the simple sentence which has 53 sentences (27,75%), the compound sentence has 79 sentences (41,36%), the complex sentence has 33 sentences (17,27% ) and the compound-complex sentence has 26 sentences (13,61%) from the total number of the data. The finding of the analysis shows that the English textbook has all types of sentences, based on both several clauses and their syntactic properties. A drawing tree diagram is a fundamental skill in the study of syntactic structure; it is a common practice to provide a visual representation of the internal structure of phrase and clause. Tree diagrams are a clear way of representing syntactic structure graphically.

Abstract

This research is a study of the public speaking program conducted at Nurussalam Islamic Boarding School. The purpose of this study is to know about how the Public Speaking program at Nurussalam Islamic Modern Boarding School and this research is qualitative research, in this research writer used the purposive sample, The writer only took the male students as the sample of research and with managers of the program that called as LAC and CLI, and the writer took the sample just for the students who are compulsory to speak English in public speaking, they are from class 3 until class 5, and The techniques of collecting the data used interview, observation, and documentation. The result of this study is an interest of the student in following that program, where public speaking programs are divided into 10 clubs and conducted only in two days it's Friday and Saturday with three languages are English, Arabic, Indonesian.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to determine if there was a significant difference in vocabulary mastery between seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya who were taught using the Duolingo program and those who were taught using the conventional approach. Quantitative research, an experimental technique, and a quasi-experimental design were employed. In the academic year2021/2022, seventh graders from SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya were the population. The sample was collected by purposeful sampling, and it consisted of an experimental group of 27 students and a control group of 28 students. The data were collected using a multiple-choice exam and analyzed using the independent t-test in SPSS 22. This investigation found a significant distinction between the experimental and control groups. This meant that students in the seventh grade at SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya may use the Duolingo App to teach and acquire vocabulary.

Abstract

Multimedia is a complete tool that is effective in the teaching and learning process in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Coupled with the existence of elements supporting the success of the learning process, namely learning methods and learning media. Learning development is one of the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) as a reinforcement of character education and learning in the face of the industrial revolution era 4.0. Educators must prepare their students to be able to face the era of disruption by strengthening new literacy skills, namely data, technology and humanism. So that educators are required to innovate to communicate and convey messages to learners.
