Abstract

The discussion in line with students’ beliefs about language learning is still popular nowadays since it is believed that the student’s beliefs may influence the language learning process, such as motivation, learning style, and strategies, etc. which later ultimately affected the success of language learning. This study was conducted to investigate how students of the English program at IAIN Madura (State Islamic Institute of Madura), Indonesia, express their beliefs about English language learning. This study was implemented in terms of survey study in which the data was primarily gathered by administering the questionnaire entitled Beliefs About Language learning Inventory (BALLI) of Horwitz’s (1987). The questionnaires were administered to students of English teaching and learning program through Google form. About 144 undergraduate students in the first year have participated in this study.  The finding revealed the students’ beliefs in terms of percentage of agreements in all area of BALLI, namely language aptitude, the strategy of learning and communication, the nature of learning language, motivation and expectation in learning, and the difficulty faced by students

Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of religious conservatism and strengthening of religious moderation in the midst of the global pandemic, Covid-19. There are three problems of the research focuses in this study, namely religious moderation, religious conservatism, and the Covid-19 itself. By using a qualitative research and analysis based on social theory, this study has two important findings. Firstly, one of the problems that has often hampered the agenda for dealing with Covid-19 in many countries in the world, including in Indonesia that comes from conservatism in the religious sector. Contrasting the handling of Covid-19 with religious texts so as to make the response to Covid-19 not optimal and ineffective. In addition, the idea of religious moderatism in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic requires three (3) things, they are the rationality, inclusivity, and contextually. Moderate in the rational sense means responding to Covid-19 with common sense and a logical attitude. It does not clash religion and science (medical), but puts them both in a dialogical and integrative manner. Meanwhile, being moderate in the sense of inclusion requires willingness and self-awareness to always take an active role. Comply with all forms of Covid-19 mitigation that have been mutually agreed upon based on consensus government policies. Moderatism in a contextual sense means that understanding Covid-19 requires comprehensive observation and attitude by considering its sociological aspects such as cultural dimensions, social systems and patterns of community interaction.

Abstract

Studi ini berjudul, Strategi Pembangunan Pariwisata Daerah Pamekasan Berkelanjutan melalui Konsep Ekowisata Berbasis Kearifan Lokal. Terdapat tiga isu utama yang akan dibahas dalam kajian ini, yakni konsep ekowisata, pembangunan berkelanjutan, dan konsep kearifan lokal. Ketiga isu tersebut akan dijabarkan melalui dua pertanyaan penelitian, apa yang dimaksud dengan konsep pariwisata berkelanjutan, ekowisata, dan kearifan lokal? Bagaimana membangun pariwisata Pamekasan berkelanjutan melalui konsep ekowisata berbasis kearifan lokal? Studi ini merupakan studi kualitatif dengan pendekatan kepustakaan. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah adalah teori pembangunan kawasan daerah dari Richard Florida. Secara teoritis, studi ini memiliki sumbangsih besar dalam hal memperkaya khazanah keilmuan sosial, khususnya yang bersentuhan dengan isu-isu pembangunan. Sedangkan secara praktik, studi ini memiliki sumbangsih besar dalam menawarkan gagasan solutif, khusunya berkenaan dengan pembangunan pariwisata daerah Pamekasan. Secara umum, temuan besar studi ini memuat penjelasan deskriptif perihal keanekaragaman alam–sosial di Pamekasan, serta analisa mendalam tentang peran dan fungsi  strategis kearifan lokal Pamekasan dalam mewujudkan pembangunan ekowisata daerah yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This community service was about a foreign learning course for elementary students in the Larangan Dalam Village during the semester break. By conducting this program, the students had an interesting activity that enable them to improve their skills in Arabic and English languages. The current program was one of the agendas of the facilitators of the Community Service Lecture (KPM) of the Tarbiyah Faculty IAIN Madura in 2022. The community service was attended by approximately 20 students in every meeting. The result of the community service was about their interest in learning and their achievement after the course. During the course, the students were learning Arabic and English language calmly, comfortably, and enthusiastically. The program also gained positive responses from the students, parents, and community of Larangan Dalam.
