Abstract

Nutritional status is a sign or a sideways that result from nutrient intake and nutrient expenditure seen through certain variables. Inadequate nutrition will cause tissue damage, infection and inflammation. Malnutrition significantly affects host immune resistance to bacterial growth. The presence of bacteria in plaque can cause gingival inflammation (gingivitis). This research aims to investigate the correlation between nutritional status with gingivitis in children aged 10-12 years in SD Negeri Perumnas 3 Depok, Yogyakarta. This research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional research design. This research was conducted in November 2017. The population in this study were the students of grade IV, V and VI SD Negeri Perumnas 3 Depok, with a sample of 45 people. Sampling uses purposive sampling. Data collection of nutritional status uses Body Mass Index (BMI) and gingivitis using Gingival Index according to Loe Stillness 1963. Data analysis use contingency coefficient. Most of the samples in children aged 10-12 years were the good nutritional status of 73% and gingival status in children mostly experienced gingivitis of 93%. Based on the statistical test the contingency coefficient showed no relation between nutritional status and gingivitis (p = 0, 860) There is no relationship between nutritional status with gingivitis in children aged 10-12 years

Abstract

Obesity and periodontal disease are chronic conditions in which prevalence tends to increase. Periodontal tissue disease is an inflammation caused by bacteria, and the process began with swelling on the gingiva until the loss of alveolar bone. To investigate the correlation between obesity and condition of periodontal tissue in the Community Health Center in Ranggo, West Nusa Tenggara. Method: This research was observational analytical with cross-sectional. This research was conducted from October-December 2018. The population of this research is obese people in Community Health Center in Ranggo. Samples were collected using purposive sampling. Data were obtained from the record of body weight and height with the Body Mass Index and the examination of periodontal tissue conditions with the Community Periodontal Index. Data were analyzed using Kendall’s tau-b. The level of obesity in the Community Health Center of Ranggo was included level II 60% with the periodontal condition in inadequate criteria 72,5%. The analysis of the correlation between obesity and the disease of periodontal tissue of the Community Health Center in Ranggo was p = 0.011. Obesity has a relationship between the condition of periodontal tissue in the Community Health Center of Ranggo, West Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

Perawatan orthodonti memerlukan waktu berbulan-bulan untuk menyelesaikannnya, kunjungan rutin harus ditaati. Keberhasilan perawatan orthodonti memerlukan motivasi yang tinggi dalam perawatan. Kegagalan untuk mentaati jadwal seringkali merupakan indikasi dari kurangnya kepatuhan di pihak pasien. Berbagai cara dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kepatuhan kontrol, salah satunya adalah pasien dimotivasi dengan baik agar mengerti dan menghargai perlunya jadwal kunjungan yang teratur. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah diketahuinya hubungan motivasi pasien dengan kepatuhan kontrol orthodonti cekat di Yogyakarta.Penelitian ini adalah survey analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling Jenis dan teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan data primer diambil dari hasil kuesioner dan data sekunder diambil secara langsung pada rekam medik. Populasi penelitian ini adalah pasien orthodonti cekat di klinik Yogyakarta. Analisis data menggunakan Korelasi Kendalls Tau. Motivasi pasien orthodonti cekat diketahui sebanyak 92,3% masuk dalam kategori motivasi tinggi. Kepatuhan kontrol  pasien orthodonti cekat diketahui sebanyak 63,5% adalah pasien yang patuh kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi pasien dengan kepatuhan kontrol orthodonti cekat (p=0.007). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan  antara motivasi pasien dengan kepatuhan kontrol orthodonti cekat.

Abstract

Background: Various oral dental problems increase with age, including tooth loss. However, it has not been matched with the use of denture treatment to replace missing teeth. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge and economic status in influencing the interest of the elderly in using removable dentures. Method: The study was using an analytical survey with a cross sectional design. A total of 65 Pre-elderly sample were gathered from Cipuruan Village. Data were collected using a questionnaire on knowledge, economic status and interest in using dentures. Data analysis using SPSS with Kendall-Tau statistical test (b). Results: 43% of pre-elderly in Cipurun Village had high school education, while 46.15%, had good knowledge and 55.38% had a low economic status. 54% of the pra elderly had moderate interest in using dentures. The significance test of knowledge level (p=0.000) and economic status (p=0.000) were associated with interest in using removable partial dentures. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between knowledge and economic status with pre-elderly interest in using dentures.
