Abstract

Organizational commitment is considered as one of the most important results of public service motivation. There is also an important literature from management studies and organizational behavior that emphasizes affective commitment as the main component of organizational commitment. Based on that, the purpose of this study is to examine the role of the dimensions of public service motivation on employee affective commitment. By using a quantitative approach, the research model was built and tested on 179 research respondents, who were public officer work in the area of Bandung, West Java. Multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the data, with the criteria valid for validity and reliability test. The findings showed that of the four dimensions of public service motivation, it was found that only two significantly affected affective commitment, which were variable commitment to the public interest and variable compassion.

Abstract

Organizational commitment is an important form of attitude from an employee towards his organization. The purpose of this study is to examine the importance of organizational commitment from the perspective of social exchange theory. With a social exchange perspective, the research model was built by integrating perceptions of organizational support and job satisfaction into having an impact on organizational commitment. The context of the situation during the pandemic has its own color in this study, especially with situations that require various jobs to be carried out remotely or away from home, so the extent to which employees remain committed to their organizations from the perspective of social exchange. This study takes a sample of ASN who are working in the Bandung Raya area. The data analysis technique uses path analysis, which aims to examine the effect of perceived organizational support on organizational commitment directly or indirectly through job satisfaction. The results showed that every relationship between variables found that the beta coefficient value was in the significant category. This confirms that empirically, social exchange theory can apply in pandemic conditions, especially in building ASN commitment to their organizations as a manifestation of the accountability of public sector organizations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the important role of each aspect of spiritual leadership (which consist of vision, hope or belief, and altruistic love) on the public service motivation (PSM) among employees who work in public organizations in East Java Province. As many as 72 civil servants who were involved as respondents in this study identified who worked in public organizations in the province of East Java. Data that has been collected were investigated using multiple regression analysis to answer research questions about what aspects of spiritual leadership have the most influence on PSM. The findings of this study reveal that among three aspects of spiritual leadership only two aspects that are hope or faith and altruistic love were found to have a significant effect on PSM. The vision which considered one dimension of spiritual leadership was found not to be significant in strengthening PSM. The value of the coefficient of determination shows a sufficient variety of variants from the aspect of spiritual leadership as a determinant of PSM.

Abstract

Pegawai merupakan aset terbesar dari organisasi mana pun, agar organisasi bersinar; organisasi bergantung pada kompetensi dan sikap profesional dari pegawai. Pengelolaan talenta dalam organisasi, yang sering dikenali sebagai manajemen talenta masih membuka peluang untuk perdebatan ilmiah tentang bagaimana konsep ini bisa berjalan dengan baik pada organisasi sektor publik. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi literatur, artikel ini mengulas tentang filosofi talenta, telaah manajemen talenta, serta model kerangka integratif manajemen talenta pada sektor publik yang bermuara pada efektivitas manajemen talenta pada organisasi publik. Kesenjangan yang ada dalam literatur dan dalam praktik adalah kurangnya model yang komprehensif, didukung oleh bukti empiris, untuk mendukung manajemen bakat bagi para pemimpin organisasi publik di tingkat fungsional dan eksekutif. Sebuah proposisi penting berupa model kerangka integratif manajemen talenta, selain menjadi arah untuk penelitian ke depan juga dapat memberikan gambaran tentang apa yang dapat dilakukan dan bagaimana organisasi publik melakukan sesuatu hal yang mendorong upaya untuk menjadi lebih fokus dalam menarik, merekrut, mengembangkan, dan mempertahankan talenta yang tepat dalam mendorong pertumbuhan organisasi yang begitu cepat.
