Abstract

Analyses of the causes and the characteristics of poverty at micro levels provide more efficient strategies for the attainment of main Sustainable Development Goals. This study aimed to analyze the extent to which the characteristics of individuals, households, and communities influence the probability of household poverty status. The 2019 Social Welfare Integrated Data and Village Potential Data of Kediri City were analyzed using an ordered logit regression model and then interpreted based on marginal effect calculation. The study found that household heads’ squared-age, household members’ education, household members’ occupation, household head gender (female), ownership of assets, access to the internet, access to proper sanitation, and access to financial institutions reduced the probability of households being categorized as very poor and poor. This finding indicated that household productivity influenced by the household head’s characteristics in managing productive assets, supported by access to infrastructure, could increase the household's welfare. However, the household head’s age and marital status, dependency ratio, and access to health facilities increased household’s probability of being very poor and poor. Policies regarding poverty must be adjusted to the poverty characteristics and status. Improving access, equalizing education, and improving job opportunity and infrastructure management that ensure accessibility and enhancement in service quality need to be made to increase the status of households with the lowest 40% welfare in Kediri City. Policies regarding poverty should be focused more on social programs for very poor and poor households. Meanwhile, those near-poor and vulnerable-to-poor need more empowering programs.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to look at the value chain for strategic agricultural commodities in East Java and optimize the supply chain. Input-output analysis, supply chain descriptive analysis, institutional pattern analysis, trading margin analysis, value chain analysis, root cause analysis, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process are among the analytical methods used. According to the findings of this study, sugar cane, cayenne pepper, and corn are three strategic agricultural commodities in East Java with a relatively long supply chain. However, the study discovered that among other supply chain actors, farmers and breeders have the lowest price margins, while collectors and wholesalers have the highest. This implies that there may be opportunities to improve the supply chain for these commodities by addressing the problems that farmers and breeders face.

Abstract

Tourism plays a crucial role in the Indonesian economy. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has substantially impacted the tourism industry. One of the destinations that have been heavily affected is the Ijen Crater. Virtual tourism has emerged as a crucial tool for promoting destinations, including the Ijen Crater, and is helpful to both tourists and tourism managers. This study examines the influence of information access, flow, and telepresence, representing the virtual reality (VR) experience of the Ijen Crater, on tourists' intention to visit the site. Hedonic value mediates the relationship between the VR experience and visits intention on the Ijen Crater. The study involved 117 respondents who had experienced Ijen crater virtual reality, and the SEM-PLS method was used for analysis. The research findings indicate that flow and telepresence have a significant influence on hedonic value, and flow itself has an indirect effect on visit intention. While information access does not significantly impact hedonic values, information access and telepresence do not indirectly influence visit intention to The ijen crater. These findings contribute new insights for researchers, stakeholders, and managers of Ijen tourism.

Abstract

This research provides empirical evidence of the effect of fiscal decentralization on poverty alleviation and used data from 505 districts/cities in Indonesia from 2010 to 2019. The poverty rate is used as an indicator to measure the social condition of the area with the parameter of the percentage of the total population below the poverty line, while the fiscal decentralization indicator uses approach to the size of the ratio of PAD to total regional income and expenditure. The estimated results used the fixed effect model shows that fiscal decentralization have significant role to reduce the level of poverty in districts/cities nationally. From this estimation result, the recommended policy formulation is pro-poor fiscal decentralization through strengthening regional financial capacity, both optimizing Original Local Government Revenue (PAD), allocating Transfer Funds to Regions that are specific grants, improving the quality of spending and regional financial management, as well as mechanisms monitoring - better evaluation. In addition, the effectiveness and efficiency of regional government policies in dealing with socio-economic issues such as unemployment and growth population must also be considered.

Abstract

The emergence of Covid-19 has caused a lot of harm MSMEs, especially since the government implemented social distancing. This causes people to experience changes in behavior patterns, one of the most visible of which is their consumption patterns, which were initially carried out face-to-face and had to change to other appropriate methods. This e-commerce actually existed even before the emergence of Covid-19, however, it was not very attractive to the public. For now, due to the implementation of government policies to maintain distance, e- commerce is one of the appropriate methods that can be used by MSMEs in overcoming the problem of declining MSME income. From the problems above, this study aims to determine how to analyze the influence of the application of e- commerce on MSME income during the Pandemic. This research focuses on SMEs in the culinary sector in Malang City. This study uses PLS analysis with the help of SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results of this study indicate that the variable length of business, HR, and competitiveness have a positive and significant effect on MSME income, while the variables of e-commerce implementation, and capital have no effect on MSME income.

Based on data from The Minister of Villages, underdeveloped Regions and Transmigration, in 2021 there were 15,768 Village Owned Enterprises affected by pandemic. Also, the number of inactive Village Owned Enterprises in Indonesia was 12,040. This research was conducted at Rukun Makmur Village Owned Enterprises which has developed status since 2019. In addition, they achieved an award as runner-up of Village Owned Enterprises Award 2020 in a profit category during Covid-19 period. However, they also had several problems that must be resolved on its progress. Thus, this research aims to examine the development of Rukun Makmur Village Owned Enterprises before and during Covid-19 to find out their strategies in overcoming problems, so it can be used as a reference by other Village Owned Enterprises which are less active on their growth and to improve Village Owned Enterprises development in the following years. The research method is a mix method using descriptive analysis techniques and Hierarchy Analysis Process (AHP). The results show that to overcome Village Owned Enterprises problems, the first strategic priority is to increase Human Resources both in quality and quantity, the second is to increase Village Owned Enterprises and village finances, then the third is to increase the village potential  by exploring and making good use of it. Abstract

In the process of economic development, investment has an important role that makes the economy inseparable from investment activities. Empirical research on the relationship between investment and economic growth has been carried out a lot but only focuses on the effect on economic growth without presenting the perspective of equality and social welfare which can be seen from indicators of inclusive economic growth. This research will look at how domestic investment and foreign investment contribute to inclusive economic growth in Indonesia. Using data from 33 provinces in Indonesia from 2011 to 2018 which were processed using the Panel Data Regression method, it was found that foreign investment and domestic investment have a significant positive influence on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia. This result is also supported by the results of the control variable analysis, that a decrease in the open unemployment rate and an increase in government infrastructure spending will encourage inclusive growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the relative efficiency of public sector spending (health, education, and the economy) and determine the effect of the relative efficiency of public sector spending (health, education, and economy) as well as GRDP per capita and the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) as control variables on the Human Development index (HDI) and Inclusive Economic Development Index (IPEI) in the East Java region in 2016-2020. This study uses the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method and panel data regression analysis. The results showed that Batu City, Mojokerto City, and Blitar City each consistently performed relatively efficiently in health, education, and economic spending during the 2016-2020 period. In this case, the efficiency of public sector spending is indeed needed in improving people's welfare. The government is expected to improve the allocation of public sector spending that is more oriented towards the quality of health, education, and basic public infrastructure so that it not only meets the quantity target but also the quality target.
