Abstract

The study aims at examining the effect of adding tea waste into the quail feed on the aspects of the quail production performances including feed consumption, daily egg production (Hen Day Production/HDP) and feed conversion. Materials on this study were 100 quails aged 7 months old with experimental period of 35 days. Tea waste used in this research was obtained from the tea industry of Wonosari (Lawang). The method was experiment, and the design was one-way completely randomized design. The treatments used in this study were level of adding tea waste of 0; 1.25; 2.5; 3.75; and 5.0% in feed. Every treatment was repeated 4 times and every replication used 5 quails. The study shows that tea waste addition in feed did not significantly influence (P>0.05) feed consumption, daily egg production (Hen Day Production/HDP, and feed conversion of quail. The study concludes that tea waste addition into the feed until level 5% did not influence feed consumption, HDP (Hen Day Production), and feed conversion of quail. It could be suggested to do further research involving the increasing level or by taking the topic of how to minimize the anti-nutrient effect (tannin) of tea waste. Abstract

This experiment was carried out in a 7,500 m2 poultry closed house located between the geographical coordinates 7°21ʹ-7°31ʹ south latitude and 110°10ʹ-111°31ʹ    west longitude and an average altitute of 654 m, from July to August 2020. The chickens were placed in 24 pens measuring 1 m2 each at stocking density of 4 chickens m-2. This study aimed at evaluating the effect of three initial weight (chick weight on first day of experiment) and two types of mixed feed on broiler performance. A total 96 day old chicks strain CP 707 derived from the same flock of breeders, was distributed in completely randomized experimental design with 3 (initial weight) by two type of mixed feed five repliated per treatment. The feed was complete feed produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk. Complete feed was given based on the maintenance phase, include BR0 (1-7 days old), BR1 (8-21 days), and BR2 (>21 days). The booster additive was a commercial product. Initial weights were classified as light (37-41 g), medium (42-46 g) and heavy (>47 g), whereas mixed feed (with and without additive booster) were used as daily chicken feed.  Data were analyzed by ANOVA and means were compared by Tukey’s test at 95% confidence level. Initial weight and types of mixed feed have no effect on feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, dan production index.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of lesser mealworm meal in feed on the performance of broiler. The materials used for this experiment were 100 Lohmann strain broiler chicks with average body weigth 257.55 + 26.36 g. The treatments were P0 = basal feed, P1 = 0,5% lesser mealworm meal, P2 = 1% lesser mealworm meal, and P3 = 1,5 % lesser mealworm meal and P4 = 2% lesser mealworm meal. The measured variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, mortality and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). Data obtained in this study were analysed by ANOVA Completely Randomized Design consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. Duncan’s Multiple Range Test were used to analize the difference between the treatments. The results of this research showed that the use of lesser mealworm meal as feed ingredient did not significantly influenced (P > 0.05) feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, mortality and very significantly influenced (P > 0.01) Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). It can be concluded that the use of lesser mealworm meal until level of 2 % as feed addition doesn’t improve broiler production performances. Keywords : Lesser mealworm, and broiler

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of broiler production in a closed and open house system. The study was conducted on September 13-October 25, 2019, at Sumardi's broiler farm located in Kademangan Village, Pagelaran District, and Malang Regency. The material used is 120 broilers in a closed house and 120 broilers in an open house. CP-707 strain broiler chickens were given complete feed produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia. Feed and drinking water are given ad libitum. Research variables are feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion, carcass percentage, and abdominal fat weight. Research data were tabulated and analyzed using unpaired t-test. Based on the results of statistical analysis, there is a difference between the performance of broiler production in a closed house and open house system (P<0.05). Closed house system gives a better effect on the performance of broiler production.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the effect of noni fruit powder (Morinda citrifolia .L.) addition in feed on production performance of hybrid ducks such as feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. Ninety six 14-days old hybrid ducks were used in this research. The hybrid duck was reared until 54-days old. The research method was experimental using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and six replications, each replication consisted of four hybrid ducks. The treatments consisted of P0 (Basal feed), P1 (Basal feed + 1% noni fruit powder), P2 (Basal feed + 2% noni fruit powder) and P3 (Basal feed + 3% noni fruit powder). The data were analyzed using ANOVA and continued by Duncan's multiple range test if there were significantly different results. The results showed that noni fruit powder did not give significant effect (P>0.05) on production performance of hybrid ducks such as feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion rate. The research concluded that supplementation of noni fruit powder (Morinda citrifolia L.) in feed up to level 3% did not significantly increase production performance of hybrid ducks. However, the addition of noni fruit powder (Morinda citrifolia L.) at the level of 2% showed the best results on feed consumption (4508.79 ± 106.22), body weight gain (1006.29 ± 36.14) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) (4.49 ± 0.24). Keywords : noni fruit powder, production performance and hybrid ducks

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the sweating rate and the microscopic anatomy of sweat glands of many breed bulls in different parts of the body. Ten bulls of 5 breeds (Simmental, Limousin, Crossed Ongole breed (PO), SimPO (Crossed between Simmental and PO), and LimPO (Crossed between Limousine and PO) in Authorized Slaughterhouse of Malang and Surabaya city were used during the study. Two bulls of each breed were observed for the sweating rate using a Cobalt Chloride Disk (CCD). The skin samples of four places in the legs and back of the animal were taken to be observed under a light microscope in the laboratory of Biosains of Universitas Brawijaya. The result showed that for all breeds, the sweating rates in the legs were higher (P<0.05) than in the back.  It was observed that the sweat glands of the legs had tubular, but the back part is in irregular shapes. Based on the study result it is suggested to measure the sweating rate in the back part of the animal body.
