Abstract

Quail (Coturnix japonica) is a bird that have high protein content, but vulnerable to digestive diseases. The purpose of this research was to determine the ability of antibacterial compounds of LAB from intestinal quail origin in bacterial growth inhibition test. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with variable concentrations of Cell Free Supernatant (CFS) for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60% and bacterial pathogens of the digestive tract of quail (S. typhimurium, E. coli of human origin, and E. coli of bird origin) by using the Minimum inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimal Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). The data obtained were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results obtained showed that the bacterium Lactobacillus fermentum and L. salivarius derived from quail intestine can produce antibacterial compounds that could inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli (human), and E. coli (bird). Minimum concentration of the addition of CFS from L. fermentum in inhibiting the growth of tested bacteria was 30% for S. typhimurium, 30% for E. coli (human), and 20% for E. coli (bird). While the addition of CFS minimum concentration of L. salivarius in inhibiting the growth of tested bacteria was 20% for S. typhimurium, 20% for E. coli (human), and 10% for E. coli (bird). Abstract

The research was aimed to evaluate the effect of biogas liquid waste as a fermentation starter of rice husk to the nutrient content, gross energy and bulk density. The method used laboratory experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) on factorial pattern (6 x 5) with the level of biogas waste liquid : P0-treatment (0% negative control), P0+ (Cellulomonas sp as positive control), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), P4 (20%) ml/g, and the incubation time : T0 (0 day control ), T1(7 days), T2 (14 days), T3 (21 days) and T4 (28 days). The variables measured was the content of ash, crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat, gross energy and bulk density. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance (anova) CRD Factorial pattern and if there is a significant difference was followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results of research was the level of biogas liquid waste and the incubation time provides a significant influence (P<0.01) on the nutrient content, gross energy and bulk density of rice husk. The interaction level liquid waste provision of biogas and incubation time was highly significant (P<0.01) on the nutrient content, gross energy and bulk density. It can be concluded that the addition of biogas liquid waste 15% (ml/g) with a time of incubation for 21 days have best rice husk quality content based on improvement of crude protein, crude fat, and gross energy with lowest crude fiber.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to improve the nutritional quality of venison floss by modifying the the technology process of floss making with adding red fruit oil (Pandanus conoideus L) and kebar grass extract (Biophytum petersianum) as a source of natural antioxidants. The results showed that the nutritional value of floss was influenced by the use of these herbal. Supplementation of antioxidant is to potentially extend the shelf-life of floss as indicated in decreasing the value of water activity (Aw) and thiobarburic acid (TBA). The Aw value decreased from 0.756 to 0.701, and TBA decreased from 0.139 to 0.055 mg/kg. The protein of floss increased from 33.20 to 35.60%. The result also showed that the content of antioxidant increased which is indicated by the increasing of beta-carotene content from 0.0087 mg /100 gram to 0.81 mg/100 gram. Results also showed that the use of red fruit oil extract and kebar grass extract decreased the content of saturated fatty acids, meanwhile in unsaturated fatty acids it increased arachidonic fatty acids. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi abon daging rusa dengan memodifikasi proses teknologi produksinya dengan penambahan ekstrak minyak buah merah (Pandanus conoideus L) dan ekstrak rumput kebar (Biophytum petersianum) sebagai sumber antioksidan alami. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa nilai nutrisi produk olahan daging dipengaruhi oleh adanya penambahan senyawa antioksidan. Pemberian suplementasi bahan sumber antioksidan meningkatkan daya awet pada abon yang ditunjukkan dengan penurunan nilai aktivitas air (Aw) dan nilai thiobarburic acid (TBA). Nilai Aw abon menurun dari 0,756 menjadi 0,701, dan nilai TBA-nya menurun dari 0,139 menjadi 0,055 mg/kg. Nilai nutrisi terjadi pada nilai protein yang meningkat dari 33,20 menjadi 35,60%. Sebagai sumber antioksidan terlihat pada peningkatan kandungan beta-karoten dari 0,0087 mg/100 gram menjadi 0,81 mg/100 gram. Faktor penting lainnya dengan penggunaan ekstrak minyak buah merah dan ekstrak rumput kebar yakni adanya penurunan yang signifikan pada kandungan asam-asam lemak jenuh, akan tetapi pada asam-asam lemak tidak jenuh terjadi peningkatan pada asam lemak arakidonat. Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of dietary probiotic enhanced liquid acidifier combined with mannan-rich fraction on growth performance, nutrients digestibility in growing pigs. Thirty [(Duroc×Yorkshire)×Landrace] pigs with the average initial BW of 36.75±1.57 kg were allocated into three treatments by a randomized complete block design. There were five pens per treatment with six pigs per pen. Dietary treatments include: 1) CON (basal diet); 2) T1 (basal diet+probiotic 0.1%) and 3) T2 (basal diet+probiotic+mannan rich fraction 0.2%). the data were analyzed as a randomized complete block design using of SAS University Version 4.0. The model included the effects of block (replication) and treatment. Pen served as the experimental unit. During the entire experimental period of 6 weeks, results showed that addition of complex probiotic at the level of 0.2% to diet increased ADG significantly (p<0.05). Also, digestibility of DM and N tended to increase. To sum up, results in this experiment indicated that dietary [(probiotik×acidifier)×mannan-rich-fraction] supplementation had a positive effect on growing pigs performance and nutrient digestibility

Abstract

Biji asam jawa mempunyai potensi besar sebagai penggati bekatul. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggantian bekatul dengan tepung biji asam jawa dalam pakan terhadap bobot karkas, persentase karkas, dan organ dalam ayam pedaging. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan : P0 = Jagung 60% + konsentrat 30% + bekatul 10% ( kontrol ), P1 = Jagung 60% + konsentrat 30% + bekatul 7,5% + tepung biji asam jawa 2,5%, P2 = Jagung 60% + konsentrat 30% + bekatul 5% + tepung biji asam jawa 5%, P3 = Jagung 60% + konsentrat 30% + bekatul 2,5% + tepung biji asam jawa 7,5%, P4 = Jagung 60% + konsentrat 30% + bekatul 0% + tepung biji asam jawa 100%, dengan 4 kali pengulangan dan pada setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor ayam pedaging. Penggantian bekatul dengan tepung biji asam jawa dilakukan pada saat umur ternak 21 hari pemeliharaan. Variabel penelitian yang diamati terdiri dari bobot karkas, persentase karkas dan berat organ dalam ayam pedaging. Pengunaan tepung biji asam jawa sebagai pengganti bekatul memberikan pengaruh tidak berbada nyata (P>0,05) terhadap berat karkas ayam pedaging. Pemberian tepung biji asam jawa sebagai pengganti bekatul dalam pakan belum mampu meningkatkan bobot karkas, persentase karkas dan berat organ dalam ayam pedaging.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. The purpose of this research was to investigate the use of candlenut powder (Aleurites mollucana (L.) Willd.) as feed additive on blood profile and meat cholesterol content of broilers. Materials used in this research were 200 day-old broiler chicks. Research method was in vivo on Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments (P0 = basal diets only, P1 = basal diets + 0.25% candlenut powder, P2 = basal diets + 0.5% candlenut powder, P3 = basal diets + 0.75% candlenut powder, P4 = basal diets + 1% candlenut powder), each treatment was replicated 5 times. Variables measured were blood profile (erythrocyte, hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, and mean corpuscular hemoglobin) and meat cholesterol content. Data were analyzed by using Analysis of Variance. Data with significant different effects were further analyzed by using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results showed that candlenut powder usage as feed additive had a highly significant effect on (P0.01) erythrocyte and hemoglobin levels. Candlenut powder also significantly affect (P0.05) mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), but did not significantly affect (P0.05) mean corpuscular volume (MCV) levels. Broilers fed candlenut powder had lower (P0.01) meat cholesterol content compared to those fed basal diets only. It might be concluded that the use of candlenut powder as feed additive at the level of 1% is safely recommended to give better blood profile and reduce meat cholesterol content of broilers.Pengaruh penambahan tepung biji kemiri terhadap profil darah ayam pedaging dan kandungan kolesterol dagingABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi pemanfaatan tepung biji kemiri (Aleurites mollucana (L.) Willd.) sebagai aditif pakan terhadap profil darah dan kandungan kolesterol daging ayam pedaging. Materi yang digunakan adalah 200 ekor day old chicks (DOC) ayam pedaging. Metode penelitian menggunakan percobaan in vivo pada Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan (P0 = pakan basal, P1 = pakan basal + 0.25% tepung biji kemiri, P2 = pakan basal + 0.5% tepung biji kemiri, P3 = pakan basal + 0.75% tepung biji kemiri, P4 = pakan basal + 1% tepung biji kemiri), setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis variansi (ANOVA) perbedaan yang signifikan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan’s. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan tepung biji kemiri sebagai aditif pakan memberikan perbedaan yang sangat nyata (P0,01) terhadap jumlah eritrosit dan hemoglobin. Tepung biji kemiri juga memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (P0,05) terhadap mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), tetapi tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap mean corpuscular volume (MCV) darah ayam. Ayam pedaging yang diberi pakan dengan penambahan tepung biji kemiri memiliki kandungan kolesterol daging yang lebih rendah (P0,01) dibandingkan dengan yang hanya diberi pakan basal. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penambahan tepung biji kemiri sebanyak 1% dapat memberikan profil darah yang lebih baik dan efektif untuk menurunkan kandungan kolesterol daging ayam pedaging.ABSTRACT. Abstract

(Effect of meniran powder as feed additive on microflora small intestine of broiler)ABSTRACT.  Meniran plant powder has potential as feed additive that can help balancing the microflora of small intestine of broilers . However, it is but not yet known that the best optimum level of meniran plant powder given effect on small intestine microflora of broiler. The purpose of this study was to find the best level of meniran powder that used to inhibited the growth of small intestine microfora (lactad acid bacteria and Eschirichia coli). This study consist of 4 treatments which were (P0= Antibiotic 100 %, P1= meniran powder 0 %, P2= meniran powder 0,8 % and P3 = meniran powder 1,2 %). Variable tested in this study wereLAB and Eschirichia coli. Nested Completely Randomized Design method used and if there was a different effect , it would tested by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The result of the research indicated that meniran plant powder had a not significant effect (P0.05) on small intestine microflora of broiler (BAL dan Escherichia coli). It was noted that supplementation meniran plant powder at level of 0,8% gave the best effect on the small intestine microflora.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. The research purpose was to determine the nutrient content of dried poultry waste molasses block (DPW-UMB). The use of dried poultry waste in the manufacture of the urea-molasses block was as a substitute of urea and could improve the value added in dry season. The treatments used for research were T1 (15% manure layer chicken and 25% molasses), T2 (10% manure layer chicken and 30% molasses), and T3 (20% manure layer chicken and 30% molasses). Chemical analysis: the dried of poultry waste were analyzed for dry matter, crude protein, crude fibre, ash, fat, and gross energy. The statistical formulation diet composed with Microsoft Excel Ver. 2016. The results showed that the 20% manure layer chicken and 30% molasses (T3) were better than T2 and T1 on nutrient content with 92.04% Dry Matter (DM), 13.34% Crude Protein (CP), 13.39% Crude Fiber (CF), 37.16% ash, 3.44% fat, but low in Gross Energy (GE) (2631.63 kcal/kg). It could be concluded that dpw-umb T3 were dried of poultry waste contained sufficient levels of gross energy, crude protein, crude fibre, ash, and fat it could be used as feedstuff for ruminants for supplementation with the required nutrients.(Kotoran Ayam Molasses (Kamblok) Sebagai Potensi Supplementasi Pakan) ABSTRAK. Tujuan penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kandungan nutrisi dari Kotoran Ayam Molasses Blok (KAMBLOK) dengan analisis proksimat. Sebagai bahan pengganti urea dengan kotoran ayam kering dalam pembuatan urea molasses blok dan meningkatkan nilai tambah dalam suplementasi Kotoran Ayam Molasses Blok (KAMBLOK) pada musim kemarau. Perlakuan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Kotoran Ayam Molasses Blok (KAMBLOK) dengan T1 (Kotoran Ayam Petelur 15% dan Molasses 25%), T2 (Kotoran Ayam Petelur 10% dan Molasses 30%), T3 (Kotoran Ayam Petelur 20% dan Molasses 30%). Analisis kandungan nutrisi yang dilakukan adalah bahan kering, protein kasar, serat kasar, abu, lemak, dan gross energi. Analisis statistik menggunakan Microsoft excel versi 2016. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan Kotoran Ayam Molasses Blok (KAMBLOK) T3 lebih baik dari T2 dan T1 pada bahan kering (BK) 92, 04%, protein kasar (PK) 13,34%, serat kasar (SK) 13,39%, abu 37,16%, lemak 3,44% tetapi rendah dalam gross energi (GE) adalah 2.631,63 kal/kg. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kotoran ayam mengandung beberapa kandungan yaitu protein kasar, gross energy, serat kasar, abu, dan lemak yang bisa digunakan sebagai pakan potensial untuk supplementasi.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persentase karkas, organ dalam, dan lemak abdominal itik pedaging. Materi penelitian adalah 100 ekor itik pedaging tanpa dibedakan jenis kelaminnya (umur 20 hari) dengan strain (Peking x Khaki Campbell) dengan rataan bobot badan yang digunakan adalah 410,52 ± 95,25 g dengan koefisien keragaman sebesar 23,20 %. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah percobaan lapang dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan 4 kali ulangan. Masing-masing ulangan 5 ekor itik pedaging. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah P0: 10 % bekatul, P1: 7,5 % + 2,5 % tepung bonggol pisang, P2: 5 % + 5 % tepung bonggol pisang, P3: 2,5 % + 7,5 % tepung bonggol pisang dan P4: 10 %  tepung bonggol pisang. Variabel meliputi persentase karkas (dada, paha, sayap dan punggung), organ dalam (hati, jantung, limpa dan gizzard) dan persentase lemak abdominal. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis kovarian (ancova). Apabila hasil penelitian menunjukan perbedaan nyata, maka dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan’s. Hasil menunjukan bahwa tepung bonggol pisang memberikan pengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase karkass, dan lemak abdominal tetapi memberikan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap persentase gizzard. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan tepung bonggol pisang sebagai pengganti bekatul sampai dengan 10 % dalam pakan memberikan hasil positif terhadap penampilan persentase karkas, serta mampu menguarangi kandungan lemak abdominal

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek dari tepung kunyit dan probiotik terhadap karakteristik usus halus yang terdiri dari total vili, tinggi vili dan viskositas digesta. Materinya adalah 100 DOC (Day Old Chick) dan ukuran per plot 70 × 80 × 70 cm dibagi menjadi 20 plot. Data dianalisis secara statistik dengan menggunakan Analisis Variasi (anova). Jika data hasil yang berbeda signifikan antara perlakuan maka dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan. Dalam desain acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan masing-masing dan 5 DOC per ulangan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa 0,1% penambahan tepung kunyit bubuk pada pakan secara signifikan meningkatkan jumlah vili usus halus. Penambahan tepung kunyit dan probiotik tidak memberikan perbedaan yang signifikan (P> 0,05) terhadap tinggi viskositas vili dan vili usus halus. Disimpulkan bahwa serbuk kunyit dan probiotik dalam pakan ayam pedaging dapat meningkatkan jumlah vili. 0,1% tingkat perlakuan penambahan serbuk kunyit pada pakan broiler memberikan hasil terbaik menghasilkan jumlah total vili.
