Abstract

This research is aimed to get the empirical data and to find out the effect of Community Language Learning and learning interest towards students’ speaking ability at a private college in Bekasi. The research was conducted at school of foreign languages Cipto Hadi Pranoto in Bekasi. The total sample of this research is by 60 students. The technique of collecting data of teaching method (CLL) and learning interest used questionnaires and the speaking skill was acquired from the test. The research of the instrument has tested and tried by the validity and the reliability test used the program of SPSS 17.0 (Statistics Program Social Science). The result of the study identifies There is significant effect of learning method towards students speaking ability. Keyword: Community Language Learning, Learning Interest, and Speaking Ability

Abstract

Speaking skill is affected by two factors, the internal and external factors. The two external factors are instructional methods and learning resources. The complete and incomplete learning resources will surely affect the instructional process. As well as with instructional methods, it will affect the achievement of learning objectives. This research is aimed to get the empirical data and to find out the effect of instructional method and learning resources towards students’ speaking skill at state senior high schools in Bekasi. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 and SMA Negeri 2 Sukatani-Bekasi. The total sample of this research is 40 students. The experiment was done from 17 Juli – 02 December in 2017. The technique of collecting data of instructional method and learning resources used questionnaires. Otherwise, the speaking skill was acquired from the test. The result of the research identifies there is the significant effect of instructional method and learning resources towards students speaking skill. Thus, the schools and the government should increasingly work hard in fulfillment of the completeness of learning resources and using an appropriate instructional method for the achievement of learning objectives. Abstract

This research aimed to find out the students’ perception on the implementation of Talking Stick model to practice speaking skill, whether it is positive or negative. Since English is considered as a foreign language in Indonesia, so it is very important to practice the students’ speaking skill to communicate effectively. The English teacher however, can use the learning model as the classroom activity to motivate and engage the students to be confident to speak in front of the class. There many learning model, one of them is Talking Stick model. This learning model gives more opportunity to the students to speak in front of the class by using Talking Stick. The researcher formulated two questions. The researcher employed a survey model. There are two research instruments in this research which are questionnaire and interview.

Abstract

The aim of this community service activity is to provide socialization of the use of the Canva application; to help the teachers in the 5.0 industrial revolution era, especially in the process of designing online teachingmaterials; to provide new teaching material design to give an experiences to teachers which in the end get convenience in online learning teaching materials. This activity uses the Canva application. The method usedintroducting, training/practice, mentoring and evaluating. By using the Canva application, the teaching material design process is considered to be more attractive and attractive to students and greatly facilitatesthe industrial era 5.0 teacher. From these results, it can be concluded that there is still a need for intensive socialization and training to teachers regarding the use of the Canva application as an effective and efficientevaluation application for teachers. The introduction of this application is expected not only to be introduced to teachers in SMPN 1 Bojongmangu, but also to other cross-school teachers. However, of course this requirescooperation from various parties to realize this activity. Therefore, collaboration with related parties is part of the next stage plan for the implementing team in order to introduce this Canva application in every school that needs it.
