Abstract

The earthquake is one of the natural disasters that is destructive and claimed lives at a certain magnitude and depth. Indonesia is an earthquake-prone area because it is in the area of major tectonic plates. Province of Nusa Tenggara Barat is one of the 34 provinces in Indonesia which is earthquake prone. In this research, earthquake grouping will be carried out in the Province of Nusa Tenggara Barat using the K-Means cluster approach. Furthermore, using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test the type of distribution is determined for each group variable resulting from the cluster process. The data used was the 2018 earthquake data in West Nusa Tenggara Province, sourced from the USGS earthquake catalog. The software used in this research process is SPSS, GMT, and Matlab, respectively. The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference for the Government of Nusa Tenggara Barat Province and surrounding areas related to earthquake disaster mitigation, especially evaluation of spatial and regional.

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is one of the abilities that must be mastered by students in order to be able to mathematically solve problems often found in real life. The purpose of this study was to describe students' mathematical problem solving abilities on the volume of cubes and blocks equivalent to the TIMSS instrument. The research subjects are five students of class IX science at SMP Negeri 1 Masohi who were selected based on the category of problem solving ability. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research supported by quantitative data. The data obtained from this study is data on mathematical problem solving ability tests such as written tests and interviews. The results show that students with very high abilities are able to interpret problems well, interpret strategies and problem-solving steps accaording to the plan, and consistently check back. Students with high abilities are able to apply the four steps in solving ploblems even though there are some questions that students make mistakes in setting strategies and substituting scores at the completion stage. Students with moderate abilities sometimes make mistakes in setting a strategy, make calculation errors, and do not check back to the maximum so that they get inaccurate results. Meanwhile students with low abilities unable to meet the completeness of the stage of understand the problem is writing down the things that are known and asked. As for students with low abilities cannot solve problems completely because of poor planning. Making mistakes in calculations and not checking again so that they do not get the right results

Abstract

Tectonic earthquakes are disasters that often cause damage to buildings and loss of life. The Province of North Sulawesi and its surroundings are earthquake-prone areas because they are located at the confluence of the major plates. This study aims to analyze the level of earthquake activity in the Province of North Sulawesi and its surroundings using the maximum likelihood method and the Guttenberg-Richter law. The distribution of the earthquake studied for the period 1941-2021 in the Province of North Sulawesi and its surroundings with a Mag ≥3.0 Mw and a depth ≤60 km. The data used comes from the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency Indonesia and ISC (International Seismological Center). The level of earthquake activity was reviewed based on nine groups of year intervals, three groups of depth levels, and the overall research area. The results show that the level of earthquake activity, rock fragility, and local stress at certain year intervals is sometimes high or low for the 1941-2021 earthquake period in North Sulawesi and its surroundings. The same condition for certain earthquake depths. On the other hand, the level of earthquake activity is quite high and the level of rock fragility is moderate in the research area as a whole.

Abstract

Stainless Steel (SS) is a material that is widely used in various fields because it is resistant to corrosion. However, if SS is exposed to heat at high temperatures for a long period of time, a sigma phase, namely the Fe-Cr compound, will form, which indicates that corrosion has begun. The appearance of this corrosion can be detected through color changes on the SS surface, ranging from light brown to dark blue. Corrosion events will be observed through the distribution of color on the sample surface at the location selected through the SS microstructure image. Cluster analysis will be used to group the colors on the surface of the SS sample through the images used. The results of cluster analysis can be used to identify SS color which indicates the appearance of corrosion in the sample. In this research, we will examine the determination of many clusters for K-Means and Agglomerative Hierarchy with Ward's Criterion, Single, Average, and Complete Linkages. In addition, the model quality measure was tested with Silhouette Coeficient. Single linkage gives the worst results because it gives the impression that only one dominant color appears so it can be said that it is unable to distribute each color to the specified cluster. Likewise with Average because the number of clusters cannot be determined with certainty. On the other hand, the K-Means results are similar to Ward's results, this is reasonable because the basic idea of both is to find the minimum distance between each object and its center, in this case the average is used as the measure of the center, while the results that are most similar to the original image are clustering uses complete linkage. These results can be used as recommendations for academics and practitioners in the fields of Statistics, Mathematics and Materials Engineering in the subsequent analysis process to solve SS corrosion problems.

Abstract

Integral inequality of Gronwall-Bellman is known as an integral inequality which consists of differential and integral forms. Integral inequality of Gronwall-Bellman involving several functions that some definite condition hold and integral values of these functions. In addition, the integral inequality of Gronwall-Bellman shows that if a function is bounded to a certain integral values then that function is also bounded for the other conditions, that is the exponential of integral. Furthermore, by adding some specific conditions the integral inequality of Gronwall-Bellman can be extended to the case of power functions.

Abstract

Riemann Integral is integral concept using the sum of lower Riemann and upper Riemann. The sufficient condition for the function sequence which is R-integralable at a, b is thelimit function also R-integralable at a, b. If function sequence   n f convergence to f at a, b and n f R-integralable for every n, then the sufficient condition that function f alsoR-integralable at a, b is   n f uniform convergence to f at a, b. This research studies about sum convergence theorems in Riemann Integral.

Abstract

The climate in Ambon, are influenced by sea climate and season climate, cause of this island arrounded by sea, it is make very high rainfall intensity. A very high collinearity between independent variables, make the estimate can not rely be ordinary least square method so it market with not real regretion coefficient and the collinearity. Collinearity can be detected by linier correlation coefficient between independent variables and also with VIF way. Regretion principal component analysis is used to remove collinearity and all of independent variable into model, this analysis is regretion analysis technique wher eare combinated with principal component analysis technique. The object of this analysis is to simplify the variable by overcast it dimension, we can do it removes the correlation between coefficient by transformation. Regresion can help to solve this case rainfall in Ambon on 2010. So the colinearity to independent variables can be overcome and then we can get the best regretion rutes.
