Abstract

Benthic foraminifera lives on the seaflor and some of them are attached to plant stem. This organisms use pseudopodia to move. The study aims to describe the groups of foraminifera that live on leaves and seagrass sediments and provide information on the comparison of the number of benthic foraminifera genera in seagrass beds. The study was performed in Bunaken Island and during the study a number of 4593 specimens of benthic foraminifera has been identified and they are divided into specimen that lives on seagrass leaves (1097 specimens) and specimens that live on sediments (3496 specimens). The specimen was grouped in 16 genera and they were scattered in 2 stations within four sampling points. These genera are: Amphistegina, Calcarina, Coscinospira, Elphidium, Eponides, Lachlanela, Marginophora, Neorotalia, Operculina, Cleroplis, Planorbulina, Pseudorotalia, Quinqueloculina, Sorites, Spiroluculina, and Triloculina. Benthic foraminifera in seagrass leaves consist of 16 genera which are characterized by the genus Marginophora and Amphistegina and those live in substratum consist of 14 genera which was characterized by the genus Amphistegina.Keywords : Benthic Foraminifera, Seagrass beds, Bunaken Island

Abstract

Tunggang air pasang surut dan muka laut rata-rata merupakan variabel penting pada oseanografi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menggambarkan tunggang pasang surut dan muka laut rata-rata di perairan sekitar kota Bitung. Kisaran pasang surut dihitung dari perbedaan ketinggian tingkat pasang tinggi hingga surut terendah. Berarti permukaan laut diperoleh dengan menerapkan rumus Doodson filter dan metode admiralti. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kisaran pasang surut di air perbani adalah 63,4 cm dan 155,2 cm pada pasang purnama. Permukaan laut rata-rata tahunan adalah 154,5 cm. Kata kunci: Bitung, pasang surut, muka laut rata-rata.   Tidal range and mean sea level are important oceanographic variables. This research was carried out with the aim of describing tidal range and mean sea level in the waters around Bitung city. Tidal range was calculated from the differences in height of successive high and low tide levels. Mean sea level was obtained by applying filter Doodson formula and admiralty method. The results show that the average tidal range at neap tide was 63,4 cm and 155,2 cm at spring tide. The annual mean sea level was 154,5 cm. Keywords: Bitung, tidal range, mean sea level.

Abstract

Beach slope and sediment granulometry  is one of the importat aspect in coastal management.  Beach offers a variety of functions and potential to be utilized. In the interests of phisical use in the beach, coastal structure in the form of groynes has been built. Actually, the groin has been used as a dock. This research was conducted with the aim of revealing the slope and granulometry sediment in Tanjung Merah beach. The results obtained, the beach slope is considered sloping and very sloping, the composition of the sediment consists mainly  of medium sand, fine sand and very fine sand. Sediment distribution analysis obtained results, the main grain size was mainly in the form of medium sand, sorting was mainly classified as poor, skewness was mostly asymmetrie strong to large size, most curtosis was mesokurtic. The results of the study indicate the occurrence of the process of erosion and deposition ia certain spaces on the beach studied.Keywords: Tanjung Merah, beach slope, sediment granulometryKemiringan lereng dan granulometri sedimen gisik merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam pengelolaan pantai. Gisik menawarkan beragam fungsi dan potensi untuk dimanfaatkan. Dalam kepentingan pemanfaatan lahan gisik, berbagai modifikasi dilakukan oleh manusia. Pada gisik di Tanjung Merah, telah dibangun struktur pantai berupa groin. Secara aktual, groin tersebut telah difunsikan sebagai dermaga. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mengungkapkan kemiringan dan granulometri sedimen di gisik Tanjung Merah. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, lereng gisik terkriteria miring dan sangat miring, komposisi sedimen terutama terdiri dari pasir sedang, pasir halus, dan pasir sangat halus. Analisis distribusi memperoleh hasil, rataan empirik terutama berupa pasir sedang, penyortiran terutama terklasifikasi buruk, kemencengan terbanyak berupa asimetris kuat ke ukuran besar, peruncingan terbanyak berupa mesokurtik. Hasil studi mengindikasikan terjadi proses erosi dan deposisi pada ruang-ruang tertentu di gisik yang ditelaah.Kata kunci : Tanjung Merah, kemiringan lereng, granulometri sedimen

Abstract

The waters surrounding the Minahasa Peninsula are important areas of various activities by use of coastal and marine space. This research aims, firstly to describe direction, period and height of waves at several water areas around the Minahasa Peninsula in various season. Secondly to analyze the characteristic of daily and seasonal waves. The wave parameter, which reanalysis by ECMWF for 5 years (September 2014 to august 2019) were used in this research.  By the analysis spasial-temporal, the results are presented by the rose grapich waves direction and stock chart. The wave propagation in the north season and transition season I, is dominated by the northeasterly wave. While the wave propagation in the southern season and the transitional season II, is more diverse directions. The characteristics of the waves formed in the southeast Minahasa waters in the north season and transitional season I, show that the wave period is greater than in the waters of Manado Bay and Bitung waters. Furthermore, the wave characteristics formed in the waters of the Minahasa Peninsula show a significant wave height in Bitung waters which is higher than the waters of Manado Bay and Southeast Minahasa waters.Keywords: Waves, ECMWF, Minahasa Peninsula Waters Perairan sekitar Semenanjung Minahasa merupakan kawasan penting dalam berbagai aktivitas pemanfaatan ruang pantai dan laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan, pertama untuk mendeskripsikan arah, periode, dan tinggi gelombang di beberapa kawasan perairan sekitar Semenanjung Minahasa dalam berbagai musim yang berlangsung. Kedua adalah menganalisis karakteristik gelombang harian dan musiman pada perairan sekitar Semenanjung Minahasa.  Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah data reanalysis ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) parameter gelombang selama 5 tahun mulai bulan September 2014 sampai Agustus 2019.  Dengan metode analisis spasial-temporal hasilnya disajikan dalam bentuk grafik mawar arah datang gelombang dan grafik kotak (stock chart). Rambatan gelombang pada musim Utara dan musim Peralihan I, arah datangnya didominasi dari arah Timur Laut.  Sedangkan rambatan gelombang pada musim Selatan dan musim Peralihan II, arah datangnya lebih beragam.  Karakteristik gelombang yang terbentuk di perairan Minahasa Tenggara pada musim Utara dan musim Peralihan I memperlihatkan periode gelombangnya lebih besar dari pada perairan Teluk Manado dan Perairan Bitung. Selanjutnya karakteristik gelombang yang terbentuk di perairan Semenanjung Minahasa memperlihatkan tinggi gelombang signifikan di perairan Bitung lebih tinggi dari pada perairan Teluk Manado dan perairan Minahasa Tenggara.Kata kunci: Gelombang, ECMWF, Perairan Semenanjung Minahasa

Abstract

Beach formation has an important role in protecting land from the action of the sea and it is useful for recreation, conservation and other uses. In “Wisata Bahari Sario” Kota Manado coastal area there is still a particular area of beach that is used for various purposes, so it is important to study its morphology. This research was conducted with the aim of describing morphology and analyzing oceanographic factors that affected the dynamic process of beach morphology. The results showed that the beach had an area of 422.69 m2, with the criteria for short slopes in the Northeast and long slopes in the Southwest. The shapes of the beach surface were in the form of gutters and shoots, their appearance was more visible towards the Southwest. In general, the deposition process took place more intensively in the Southwestern part of the beach. Keywords: Beach, Morphology, Slope, Deposition
