Abstract

The increasing population every year also affects the occurrence of waste. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) acknowledges that by 2020 the total national waste production reaches 67.8 million tons per year. Palangka Raya city has several locations where the drainages are filled with waste, especially in densely populated residential areas on Jalan Yos Sudarso km 5.6 so this study is raised from the problems that exist in the city of Palangka Raya that still does not have the handling of waste contained in waterways or drainage, that is, by creating a model of Floating Litter Trap. This research method is using a quantitative descriptive method of calculating the occurrence of waste and the composition of waste and then makes conclusions from the discussion. Floating Litter Trap is effective in tackling and minimizing waste in drainage. The amount of waste that has been collected for 15 days is 55.77 kilograms with a percentage of organic waste 67.3% and inorganic 32.7%. The composition of waste that has been collected, for organic waste namely vegetables, fruits, woods, and tree branches, as for inorganic waste, namely aluminums, plastic bottles, plastic bags, and styrofoams

Abstract

The Palangkaraya City Final Processing Site (TPA) produces quite a lot of waste and creates a new problem in the form of leachate runoff. Leachate water can seep into groundwater and swamps, reducing the quality of surface water and groundwater around the landfill. The leachate contains decaying organic materials and heavy metals such as iron (Fe), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb). These metals are known to affect the health conditions of humans and other living things. The research method used in this study is qualitative exploratory research results on the quality of surface and soil water related to chemical parameters, physics such as indicators obtained pH (6.97-8.4), Pb (0.059 Mg / L - 0.0503 Mg / L ) Cd (0.003 Mg / L -0.0.0026 Mg / L ), Fe ( 0.056 Mg / L - 0.0310 Mg / L ) and ° C (30-31) these indicate the quality of water around the landfill based on regulation No. According to SNI 6989.84 2019, surface water and ground water around the TPA are not recommended for consumption because they have an impact on human health.
