Abstract

The objective of the research is to study the effect of the lecturer’s ability to manage the class and the learning model on the learner’s motivation. The research was conducted in Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta from the beginning of March 2013 to May 2013 The method that is used in this research, with a sample of 150 respondents selected randomly, is path analysis method. The result of the research to shows that there is positive direct effect of (1) the lecturer’s abitity to manage the class, and (2) learning model, on the learner’s motivation.

Abstract

This article aims to show that the spiritual aspect must be noted in the leadership because every leader is always marked with oath of office in carrying out her/his position. So, how leaders are accountable, it is not only on the horizontal level but also at the vertical level. Research was done with phenomenological and literature studies about the practice of leadership faced with a number of theories about leadership and then to be synthesized the more authentic leadership than just imaging or false branding leadership. This article was based on the assumption that leadership (including in the political sphere) was merely a sociological problem that kicked out spiritual aspects, while in the historical development of leadership, it had never been excluded from the spiritual dimension, whether in the form of manipulative (just because fed people understand that leadership came from the “sky”/gods). So then, a king acted tyrannical and led to the birth of authentic leadership as popularized as servant leadership. This article concluded that authentic leadership will give more benefit to develop the life system as well as the purpose of leadership itself rather than a merely apparent leadership which actually hurts the members (people) because of the failure to meet the expectations of the members (people).

Abstract

Education principally is process of  making young people into maturity level in facing many aspects of life, especially in education, skills, and behaviour. Threfore, education is supposed to give positive contributions for the development of knowledge and nation building. On the other hand, nowadays people were  concerned on  the fact that even tough the education was well-developed in Indonesia, but this development did not reflect to the , in which they were not  able to perform their self image as educated and having positive characters nation. Article wanted to answer that problems, that was to find out annapproriate education system that was able to give contribution on the development of the knowledge and characters’ of the nation.

Abstract

Bina Nusantara (Binus) University as education organization has to improve itself to realize its motto ”People, Innovation, Excellence”. That’s why Binus University have to implement the open system. By open system, BINUS University realizes practicability, flexibility, and openess. If it is done, BINUS University can guarantee to achieve its goal effectively and efficiently. Because of this, system approach is very important for the students as leaders in the next day who understand and make solution in overcome the complexity of problems in their organization. Everyone realizes that there is no problem like an island in itself. The problem is always linked with others. That’s why, the problem should be understood as a system which has some sub-systems. And every problem should be overcome by system approach, which accomodate wholistic approach and understand multifactors in it. In the learning process, assignment model used makes it effective or not in the system management, especially in education system in BINUS UNIVERSITY. By this reason, Eriksen’s ”Authentic Leadership: Practical Reflexivity, Self-Awareness, and Self-Authorship” (2009) very inspires the writer.
