Abstract

Buffalo was used for traditional ceremonies namely Rambu Solo and Rambu Tuka. The purpose of this study was to forecast demand for buffalo in North Toraja regency in the short run. This study was conducted for a month in May 2013. Secondary data of buffalo quantity to be slaughtered for traditional ceremonies were collected from Central Statistics Bureau of North Toraja regency for three years since 2010 until 2012. Data were tabulated and then were calculated using linier trend. This study revealed that demand for buffalo in North Toraja Regency in the short run could be estimated using trend linier equation Y’ = 6,376 – 553.5 X’.

Abstract

Knowledge of animal feed and waste is an important component in building the livestock industry. The aspectof availability of feed and the production of livestock waste is one of the problems by cattle farmers in MattirowalieVillage, Libureng Sub-District, Bone Regency. Efforts to increase the capacity of farmers in solving these problems areneeded to increase the productivity of their livestock. This program aims to increase knowledge for farmers of beef cattlein processing agricultural and livestock waste into feed products and processing them into organic fertilizer. This activityis an implementation of the Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Unhas (PPMU) Program Kemitraan Masyarakat(PKM). This activity was carried out in Mattirowalie Village, Libureng Sub-District, Bone Regency. The partner groupsinvolved as targets were the "Kurusumange" and "Masempo Dalle" farmers group (FG). The number of trainingparticipants involved in this activity is approximately 25 peoples, overall were cattle farmers with 2-3 cattle/person. Theimplementation of technology introduction programs was carried out in the form of training programs and technologyassistance. Several technology packages that have been implemented were: 1) ammoniation technology, 2) complete feedsilage fermentation technology, 3) manufacturing of local microorganism (LM) technology and 4) Urea Molasses Block(UMB) manufacturing technology. Abstract

The study was aimed to evaluate the effect of bio-activator and different fermentation time in the process of producing bio-urine liquid fertilizer (BLF) from Balinese cattle. Two types of bio-activators are used, namely (1) animal bio-activator (ABA) and (2) plant bio-activator (PBA). The time of fermentation process applied is (1) 7, (2) 14 and (3) 21 days. The research was prepared based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) of the factorial pattern. The data of the research were analyzed using ANOVA. The result showed that the difference of bio-activator and time of fermentation process had significant effect (P<0.05) on C-organic, N-organic and C/N ratio of BLF, but no significant on pH. The C-organic content of 9.59-12.02%. N-organic of 1.03-1.35% and C/N ratio of 8.33 to 11.03. The pH values are 8.76-8.95. The final results showed that the use of bio-activator using a 14-days fermentation time showed the best characteristics compared to other. The production cost of BLF using PBA is lower IDR.8,179.22 than ABA IDR.8.312,28. The application of PBA IDR.11,820.78, was more advantageous than ABA IDR.11,687.72.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. In general farm and agriculture integrated (Crop-Livestock Systems), waste management feces and urine into organic products have not been pursued to the fullest to become a commercial product. The study aims to determine the income of rice- cattle integration system and determine thecontribution revenue of organic fertilizer made by farmers group mmassangang. The research was conducted in May-September 2014 housed in farmers group Ammassangang Ammassangang Village, District Lanrisang, Pinrang Regency. Type of research is quantitative descriptive. Analysis of the data used is descriptive statistical analys to calculate the average income. Results showed that the income earned by the farmer groups Ammassangang on business integration cattle grains obtained from three activities, namely organic fertilizer business, the cattle business, and the business of rice. Operating revenues cattle Rp. 16.871.500,- per month, businesses rice Rp. 17.966.620.- per month andorganic fertilizer business is Rp. 37.871.500, - per month. Contribution of organic fertilizer business income to total income of farmers group Ammassangang is 51.8% so it can be categorized as a branch of business. From this study can be explained that the organic fertilizer business gives substantial contribution to the total income farmers group Ammassangang, so this is an impact on improving the welfare of members of farmers group Ammassangang be an additional source of income.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the work time spent by female rabbit breeders and factors influencing the work time spent to raise rabbits in Soppeng, South Sulawesi. The research used survey method with female rabbit breeders as analysis unit. Population of 356 female rabbit breeders in Soppeng was used and a sample of 78 female rabbit breeders were selected by region. The result of the research showed that average work time of female rabbit breeders was 3.044 hours per day, which was spent cleaning cages and equipment, preparing feedstuffs and feeding on rabbits, assisting bunnies breastfeed to their mother and health care. The F-test results reveal that the most significantly influential factors affecting female rabbit breeders work time was household income, number of dependents, rabbit breeding income, and the level of experience in breeding rabbits.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas ternak adalah dengan melakukan perbaikan nutrisi serta lingkungan ternak. Kondisi kekurangan pakan dan produksi limbah ternak yang besar merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra. Perguruan tinggi sebagai salah wadah yang bertanggungjawab dalam memberikan solusi merasa perlu melakukan upaya sosialisasi dan transfer teknologi khususnya terkait dengan permasalahan pakan dan limbah ternak. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pembelajaran bagi mitra kelompok tani-ternak terkait dengan terapan teknologi dalam memproduksi pakan fermentasi sebagai cadangan pakan pada musim paceklik serta pengolahan limbah ternak khususnya urin menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC). Kegiatan yang dilakukan merupakan wujud kepedulian perguruan tinggi terhadap kondisi dan produktivitas usaha peternakan rakyat yang semakin menurun. Kegiatan terapan teknologi telah dilaksanakan di Desa Balangtanaya, Kec. Polombangkeng Utara, Kab.Takalar. Kelompok mitra yang terlibat adalah kelompok tani-ternak “Sikatutui”. Beberapa paket teknologi yang telah didiseminasikan antara lain paket : 1) teknologi amoniasi jerami, 2) teknologi pakan silase komplit fermentasi, 3) teknologi pembuatan mikroorganisme lokal (MOL) serta 4) teknologi pembuatan Urea Molasses Block (UMB). Metode terapan teknologi dilakukan melalui kegiatan pelatihan dalam bentuk tatap muka dan praktek. Selanjutnya dilakukan upaya pendampingan dan monitoring. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan penerapan teknologi memberikan dampak yang sangat positif bagi mitra dalam meningkatkan kapasitas khususnya terkait dengan kemampuan dalam mengolah dan memproduksi pakan fermentasi serta mengolah limbah ternak menjadi produk komersial. Abstract

Implementasi hasil-hasil pengembangan penelitian di perguruan tinggi dapat dilakukan melalui kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Program pengabdian masyarakat dapat dilakukan melalui kegiatan introduksi teknologi. Program Pengabdian Masyarakat (PPM) dengan skim kegiatan Program Kemitraan Wilayah (PKW) merupakan salah satu wadah untuk mengimplementasikan teknologi-teknologi yang telah dikembangkan di perguruan tinggi. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengintroduksi teknologi dalam bidang peternakan dan pertanian bagi anggota kelompok peternak sapi di Kecamatan Kahu Kabupaten Bone. Sebanyak 2 aspek bidang telah diintroduksi dalam kegiatan ini yakni bidang peternakan dan pertanian. Dalam bidang peternakan meliputi : 1) teknologi pembuatan pakan fermentasi jerami, 2) pembuatan pakan penguat dalam bentuk Urea Molases Block (UMB), 3) teknologi proses produksi mikroorganisme lokal (MOL), 4) penyuluhan tentang nilai ekonomi usaha ternak sapi. Untuk aspek pertanian berupa teknik budidaya jamur tiram (Pleurotus ostreatus). Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui kerjasama dengan Universitas Islam Makasssar (UIM) sebagai mitra perguruan tinggi. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 2 (dua) Kelompok, yakni Kelompok Tani Ternak (KTT) “MattirowaliE” dari Desa Cenrana dan KTT “Sipakainge” dari Desa Biru, Kec. Kahu, Kab. Bone. Kegiatan pelatihan diikuti oleh sekitar 30 orang. Hasil akhir dari pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dari para anggota mitra dalam mengembangkan usaha budidaya jamur tiram maupun mengolah limbah pertanian sebagai pakan ternak alternatif Kata Kunci: produktivitas, pakan, fermentasi, introduksi, jamur tiram
