Abstract

Penyakit Jantung Koroner (PJK) adalah penyakit kardiovaskuler akibat penyempitan pembuluh darah koroner yang menyebabkan iskemia miokard, sehingga mengakibatkan apoptosis sel. Kunyit mengandung senyawa yang berperan sebagai anti inflamasi, seperti kurkumin.  Tujuan: Menentukan pengaruh kandungan kurkumin pada kunyit (Curcuma longa) terhadap kadar Ischemia Modified Albumin (IMA). Metode: Desain penelitian ini adalah rancangan post-test only control group dengan menggunakan tikus wistar jantan sebanyak 30 ekor yang terbagi ke dalam 5 kelompok yaitu, kelompok 1 kontrol negatif, kelompok 2 kontrol positif, kelompok perlakuan 1, 2, dan 3. Kelompok perlakuan masing-masing mendapatkan ekstrak kunyit dengan variasi dosis 50, 100, dan 200 mg/kgBB. Pemeriksaan kadar IMA dalam serum darah menggunakan teknik ELISA. Data dianalisis dengan uji One-Way Anova. Hasil: Kadar IMA pada masing masing kelompok adalah kelompok 1 kontrol negative = 300,471 ng/mL, kelompok 2 kontrol positif = 333,357 ng/mL, kelompok perlakukan 1 dosis 50mg/kg = 232,317 ng/mL, kelompok perlakukan 2 dosis 100 mg/kgBB = 173,385 ng/mL, dan kelompok perlakuan 3 dosis 200 mg/kgBB =  217,358 ng/mL. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna kadar IMA antara semua kelompok penelitian, yakni kelompok kontrol positif, kontrol negatif, maupun kelompok perlakuan (p>0,05). Berdasarkan Independent  t-test menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna kadar IMA antara kelompok perlakuan ekstrak kunyit 100 mg/kgBB, 200 mg/kgBB dengan kelompok kontrol positif. Simpulan: Ekstrak kunyit berpengaruh terhadap kadar IMA.Kata kunci: IMA, kunyit, kurkumin

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus merupakan penyakit akibat gangguan insulin karena kerusakan pankreas yang ditandai dengan hiperglikemi. Obat lini pertama untuk pasien diabetes adalah metformin yang bekerja di hepar tetapi tidak memiliki efek pada sel beta sehingga pankreas tetap mengalami kerusakan akibat stress oksidatif. Saat ini banyak tanaman di Indonesia yang telah diteliti dapat memproteksi sel beta dan memperbaiki fungsi sekresi insulin, salah satunya adalah sambiloto. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental menggunakan 25 ekor tikus diabetes diinduksi aloksan dan dikelompokkan menjadi lima kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok P1 sebagai kontrol positif, P2 diberikan metformin 50mg/kg BB, P3 diberikan sambiloto 50mg/200g BB dan metformin 50mg/kg, P4 diberikan sambiloto 100mg/200g BB dan metformin 50mg/kg BB, P5 diberikan sambiloto 50mg/200g BB. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA. Skor kerusakan pulau Langerhans pankreas didapatkan perbedaan rerata secara statistik bermakna sebesar 7,00 pada P1; 5,60 pada P2; 2,20 pada P3; 2,00 pada P4; dan 3,00 pada P5, namun gula darah puasa tidak bermakna secara statistik (p > 0,05). Sehingga efek kombinasi sambiloto dan metformin lebih baik dalam memperbaiki pulau Langerhans pankreas dari pada metformin tunggal. Abstract

Latar Belakang: Upaya pemerintah untuk mengatur kepadatan jumlah penduduk adalah dengan menggunakan kontrasepsi. Menurut data BKKBN, penggunaan kontrasepsi pada pria lebih sedikit dibandingkan perempuan. Rendahnya partisipasi pria dalam Keluarga Berencana dikarenakan ketersediaan kontrasepsi pria yang minimal. Kontrasepsi pria bisa didapat dari bahanaalam seperti biji pepaya muda (Carica papaya L.) memiliki kandungan bersifat anti fertilitas. Hasil dan Pembahasan: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode True Experimental Post Test Only Control Group Design. Sampel dibagi dalam 3 kelompok yakni kelompok kontrol (P0), kelompok perlakuan 1 (P1) dan kelompok perlakuan 2 (P2) dengan masing-masing jumlah sampel 10 ekor mencit (Mus Musculus L.) setiap kelompok. Data dianalisis menggunakan SPSS. Ekstrak biji pepaya muda (Carica papaya L.) tidak berpengaruh terhadap kopulasi mencit, didapatkan nilai p 0,342 (p>0,05). Ekstrak biji pepaya muda (Carica papaya L.) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap jumlah anakan mencit (Mus Musculus L.) didapatkan nilai p <0,001. Ekstrak biji papaya muda (Carica papaya L.) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kategori kehamilan mencit (Mus Musculus L.) didapatkan nilai p <0,001. Ekstrak biji papaya muda (Carica papaya L.) tidak berpengaruh terhadap kopulasi mencit disebabkan oleh regulasi umpan balik negatif sistem hipotalamus-hipofisis, sehingga hormon testosteron masih dalam kadar normal. Ekstrak biji pepaya muda (Carica papaya L.) berpengaruh terhadap jumlah anakan mencit disebabkan oleh kandungan ekstrak biji pepaya muda (Carica papaya L.) yang bersifat anti fertilitas. Kesimpulan : Ekstrak biji pepaya muda (Carica papaya L.) tidak berpengaruh terhadap kopulasi mencit (Mus Musculus L.) , sedangkan berpengaruh terhadap jumlah anakan mencit (Mus Musculus L.) Abstract

ABSTRACT Hepatitis is all types of inflammation in hepatocytes (liver cells), which caused by: infections (viruses, bacteria, and parasites), drugs, alcohol consumption, toxic substances and autoimmune diseases. Carbon tetrachloride can induce hepatitis. Sambiloto leaves (Andrographis paniculata) contains of flavonoids and andrographolide which have the potential as antioxidants. The aims of this study is to determine the hepatoprotective effect of Sambiloto leaves extract on mice liver that induced by tetrachloride carbon of toxic dose and evaluate using Knodell Score. The design of this study is a post-test only group control on 28 sample of male mice (Mus musculus) which divided into 4 groups; P1 given tetrachloride carbon (0.5,l/kgBB), P2 group was given Sambiloto leaves extract (50mg/kgBB/day), P3(100mg/kgBB/day) and P4 (200mg/kgBB/day). Extract was given during seven days and eight hour after last administration, all mice was given CCl4 toxic dose. On the eight day, the mice was terminated and examine the liver histopathological. Data analysed using One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc LSD. Significant score difference was found between the groups than only given tetrachloride carbon toxic dose and the group that given the extract. The optimal dose is 200mg/kgBB/day. There was an improvement effect of liver histopathology score by giving sambiloto leaves extract to mice that induced by tetrachloride carbon toxic dose. More advanced research is needed to determine the effective dose and toxic effects of giving sambiloto leaf extract. Abstract

Background: Infection is one of the main causes of disease in tropical regions like Indonesia. One of them can be caused by bacterial infection of Staphylococcus epidermidis. Staphylococcus epidermidis is an opportunistic bacterium that attacks individuals when the body's immune system is weak. The incidence of bacterial resistance to antibiotics that already exist so that requires an alternative treatment, one of which is the use of temulawak rhizome extract (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb). Temulawak rhizome is one of the spices which is still often used as traditional medicine among Indonesian people. Temulawak rhizome extract is known to have a variety of chemical contents with active compounds in the form of essential oils xanthorrhizol and curcumin which can affect the rate of bacterial growth.Methods: This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of temulawak rhizome extract on the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria in vitro. The method used in this study is the true experimental post test only control group design. Samples were divided into four treatment concentrations such as the extract concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of temulawak rhizome which was tested by agar diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer).Result: The results of the analyze of variant (ANOVA) test showed a significant difference (p = 0,000). The temulawak extract could inhibit bacterial growth with a medium inhibitory response (5-10 mm). Temulawak rhizome extract showed the greatest inhibition at 100% concentration with an average inhibition zone diameter of 9.20 mm.Conclusion : The extract of temulawak rhizome has antibacterial activity. The higher concentration of temulawak rhizome extract (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb), the greater ability to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is an archipelagic country and one of the tropical countries that get sun exposure all the time. Sun exposure can have beneficial and detrimental effects in life. Exposure to radiation can cause acute effects in the form of erythema through the inflammatory process. Antioxidants are substances that can protect the body from damage caused by ROS. Natural antioxidants can be found in vegetables and fruits, one of which comes from lemon extract (Citrus limon L.). Lemon extract is known to have various chemical contents with active compounds in the form of flavonoids and phenols which can act as antioxidants. The aim of this research was to determine the protective effect that can be produced by lemons on UVB exposure in the skin of male wistar rats.Methods: This research uses the true experimental post test only control group design method. Samples were divided into three treatment concentrations, namely ethanol extract of lemon 5%, 10%, and 20%.Result: After testing for normality, the significance value was obtained (p <0.05). Based on the results of the normality and homogeneity test, the results of the data distribution are not normal and the homogeneous tests of the hypotheses used are the Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test. Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test results showed a significant difference with the significance value (p = 0.001). The best degree of erythema score was found in the cream of 10% ethanol extract of lemon with an average of 0.8 ± 0.84.Conclusion : The ethanol extract of lemon (Citrus limon L.) cream in a certain dosage has a significant effect on reducing the erythema degree score in the back skin of male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) after exposure to UVB rays.

Abstract

Background: Lung cancer is one of the non-communicable diseases that have an increasing number of events that each year with a mortality rate of 18.4% and an incidence of 11.6%, occupies the top position based on GLOBOCAN data in 2018. One of management in the NSCLC is currently in the form of surgery and adjuvant therapy such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and target therapy. However, there were weaknesses and limitations in care for its patients therefore development of curative therapy for NSCLC’s patients were needed.  The aim of this review is to learn and investigate about the potential of siRNA that is transfected into McD and folate receptors alpha-conjugated gold nanoparticle encapsulation as a therapeutic opportunity that could be developed as a treatment in management of NSCLC.Method: The writing method used in this review article was the study method of literature.  The used data comes from 45 of relevant literature sources and was arranged systematically in accordance with the topic of the problem discussed, along with the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Result: This treatment could increase gene transfection, siRNA biodistribution in organs, reduced KRAS, Bcl-2, and VEGF expression.  Moreover, siRNA had entered phase III clinical trials and FOLR1 antibodies were in phase II of clinical trials.Conclusion: Utilization of siRNA specifically was designed for three genes such for KRAS, VEGF and Bcl-2 which were three genes that played a role in the pathogenesis of NSCLC, could be the right modality choice for treatment of NSCLC.

Abstract

Diabetic neuropathy (ND) is the very common complication caused by type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), DM is an epidemic in the elderly group. Elderly can be defined as someone that has come to the age of > 60 years and is said to have entered the final stage of the life phase. The aging process experienced by the elderly is cued by the phase of reduction in many functions of the body's organs called degenerative. This special conditions experienced by the elderly are accompanied by several diseases or complications so that they get relatively many types of drugs called polypharmacy, this causes a clinician to consider giving treatment to the elderly in order to minimize the side effects or toxic effects of a drug. This research aims to specify the characteristics and rationality of treatment for diabetic neuropathy in the elderly. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross sectional design. In this study using purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 110 samples taken at the neurology polyclinic of the private hospital x in Denpasar. All samples were processed using SPSS 22.0 and Microsoft Excel and obtained 7 types of drugs and the most drug use are 55 (50%) of gabapentin with vitamin B complex as adjuvant therapy as many as 102 (92.7%) and 106 (96.3%) ) sample received more than 1 drug. In this study, the treatment given is a rational drug choice to treat ND in the elderly.

Abstract

The uncontrolled increase in population in Indonesia causes various problems. An effort to overcome this situation is the family planning program. However, currently men's participation in family planning programs is still very low. This study aims to determine the description of husbands' knowledge about condom contraception at Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan in 2023. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional research design, the population of all husbands and wives receiving family planning at Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan. The sample consisted of 93 respondents who were collected using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and then carried out univariate analysis. The majority of respondents were aged 26-35 years (36.6%), high school (48.4%), private employees (32.3%), income < IDR 5,000,000/month (59.1%). The purpose of contraceptive use that is most widely known by respondents is pregnancy spacing and family welfare (100%), condom (100%), the purpose of using condoms to avoid venereal disease and wait for more permanent use of birth control (100%), the advantages of using condoms are practical/easy to use (96.8%), the disadvantage is that they can only be used once (100%), and the place to get condoms is at the health center and midwife/private doctor's practice (100%). The description of respondents' knowledge regarding condom is at a low level of knowledge (40.9%) while at a high level of knowledge (59.1%). Description of husband's knowledge about condom contraception at Puskesmas I Denpasar Selatan in 2023 is at a high level of knowledge.
