Abstract

Genesis 2 deals a lot with a description of the time, reason, manner and outcome of Genesis regarding the creation of male and female relationships, especially the second part in Genesis 2:18-25. The scope of the discussion 2:18-22 is widely discussed using contemporary issues with the lens of social, psychology and anthropology. Likewise, the issues of biblical research on its use of canonical and non-canonical texts. By using the sub-hermeneutic qualitative method: Exegesis, the author finds that God's initiative for the purpose of His creation to humans can be observed through repetion parallelism (stair parallelism) in the scope of Genesis 2:18-22 (“God said…,” “God formed… ,” God created…” and “God created…”). This can be observed when initiative God created a woman by observing the word image and likeness of God, so as not to emphasize the superiority and inferiority between men and women.

Abstract

Book of Isaiah has many uses of figurative language styles (such as: metaphor, simile, metonymy, etc.), including the call of Isaiah (6:1-13). This article is unique in its interpretation of the study of the words “’ăḏōnāy,” “kissê,” and “YHWH ṣəḇā’ōwṯ” by paying attention to the overall structure of Isaiah 6:1-13. As a result, by using sub-hermeneutic qualitative studies, especially word-study, this article finds two synthesizing combinations of the emphasis on the meaning of the “’ăḏōnāy,” “kissê,” and “YHWH ṣəḇā’ōwṯ” in the structure of Isaiah 6:1-13 . First, the words “’ăḏōnāy,” “kissê,” and “YHWH ṣəḇā’ōwṯ” show God's power over his creation and attach importance to His dignity as king. second, the words above focus on the relationship between God and humans (Isaiah, Israel) who worship and serve Him as God who has authority over His creation.

Abstract

Theology of Rest emerged when scholars became interested in research on the sabbath. This is because the understanding of Jews, Christians and some Christian factions have different views on the meaning of the Sabbath. Although the debate over the legality of the Sabbath has reached a point where it depends on the meaning believed by each of these groups, it is necessary to conduct research on the basic meaning of the Sabbath and its development in canonical books. Thus, the theology of rest is built not only on a cultural basis, but on the revelation of God's Word. Topical analysis and intertextual texts will shed light on the basic meaning and development of the idea of the Sabbath in building a theology of rest. Finally, a theological formulation of the rest (sabbath) is based on careful analysis of biblical texts.

Abstract

The Book of Lamentations is a book rich in theological reflections on condemnation and hope. The reflection is enriched by the type of literature used, poetry with the lamentation subgenre, and with an acrostic and stratified text structure. The richness and depth of his theological contemplation encourage the research of this book in biblical theology. The purpose of this study is to find biblical theology of punishment and hope according to the Book of Lamentations. The method used in this study is a synthesis method by finding literary forms, book structures, major themes, and developing these themes by investigating the text based on the structure of the book, as well as investigating various supporting literature. Through this research, it was found that the sins of the people can lead to God's judgment and that punishment causes painful suffering. The right response is to recognize sin and repent and hope in God. God's faithful love and mercy are a strong foundation of hope for believers.

Abstract

The suffering of godly men and the prosperity of the wicked often become the struggle for faithful men. This issue has been around for all ages, from the biblical times until today. This struggle could have implications for the faith of the believers within one’s life. Therefore the sound understanding of God and His will through the scripture is needed. Psalm 73 is one of the Bible texts that is talking about this important issue. Through a pure biblical qualitative study with literal-grammatical-historical-contextual interpretation and exegesis theory approach, and also considering the literature style of the Psalm it is found that the base of the struggle from the existence of prosperity among the wicked is the problem from the heart. An envious heart toward the wealthiness of the wicked often moved the faith of the godly men about the kindness of the Lord. But when believers have an intimate relationship with the Lord, then new perspectives will be opened by God concerning the struggle. God is sovereign towards men’s life. The end of the wicked lives has been determined. On the contrary, for those who live in faith, the presence of God is the highest goodness because the life of a believer along with the Lord with him will always be under His nurture.
