Abstract

Improving the quality ef education management begins with the improvement of human resources schools, principals as school managers need to have a high competence. To assume the principal's office is necessary to prepare the candidates who meet the qualifications and competence Goals of this study to obtain strategy to get quality education through ; first competency mapping pricipal candidate, second; competency mapping for the principal candidates in terms of the total competence of the principal, third competency mapping principal candidate from each principal aspects of competence. Surory approach use for this study data analysis with kuantitatif descriptive. Collecting data principal of competency with instmment by paper and pencil Result of this study to Mapping of Competence Principal Candidate, first Mapping competencies for prospective principals principals only 3% of the candidates included in the category of high competence, and 46% of the principal candidates have been category, 51 % belong to low or very low. Second mapping competencies of principal are acquired 63% of the principal candidates have mastered the managerial competence and social competence, for competence and personal entrepreneurship 4 3% of the principal candidates master the competence, the competence for supervision while the only 26% controlled by the principal candidate. Third Mapping competencies for managerial competence, entrepreneurship, personal, supervision and social, there are some competencies have mastery and any competece have not master. Based on mapping results, the implication of this study are : for the competence of managerial skills development priorities through education and training or workshop activities. For entrepreneurial competencies need to be trained to think of creative and innovative capabilities through case studies. For the supervision competencies need to be trained through simulation. For social competence and personality is only required to guide them through regular meetings. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effects of leadership knowledge, work environment, work motivation to the performance of principals of Public Elementary Schools in Rokan Hilir Regency of Riau Province. This research uses the quantitative approach with survey method with causal approach and path analysis technique. This study analyzes the influence of one variable on other variables. The variables studied consist of two kinds, namely exogenous variables and endogenous variables. Exogenous variables have an influence on endogenous variables. While endogenous variables can also affect other endogenous variables. The affordable population which is simultaneously the sampling frame is the entire principals who served in Public Elementary Schools at Rokan Hilir Regency as many as 265 schools. The results of this study indicate that: (1) There is a positive direct effect of leadership knowledge on performance, (2) There is a positive direct effect work environment on performance, (3) There is a positive direct effect of work motivation on performance, (4) There is a positive direct effect of leadership knowledge on work motivation, (5) There is a positive direct effect of work environment on work motivation. Thus, the improvement of teachers’ performance can be achieved well if there is a strong effect from the leadership knowledge, work environment, and work motivation that are well built.  Keywords:   leadership knowledge, work environment, work motivation, and performance

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengawasan kepala sekolah dan konsep diri terhadap disiplin kerja guru Pegawai Negeri Sipil. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei dengan teknik analisis jalur. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah guru PNS di SMP Negeri Kabupaten Cilacap, sedangkan responden adalah 143 guru yang dipilih secara acak. Hasilnya adalah sebagai berikut: (1) ada pengaruh langsung positif dari pengawasan utama pada disiplin kerja guru; (2) ada pengaruh langsung positif konsep diri terhadap disiplin kerja guru, dan (3) ada pengaruh langsung positif dari pengawasan prinsip pada konsep diri. Oleh karena itu, peningkatan disiplin kerja guru harus ditingkatkan dengan meningkatkan pelaksanaan pengawasan kepala sekolah dan standar kerja di sekolah.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the quality of service of the head of the Islamic elementary school in terms of the level of management knowledge and work environment. This research is a quantitative study carried out in the East Lombok Madrasah in East Nusa Tenggara Province with the number of respondents being 65 heads of Islamic schools. Data were obtained through interviews, review of documents and literal scale questionnaires that had been standardized using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with the Lisrel 8.80 full version program. For data analysis using path analysis techniques (path analysis). The findings of this study reveal that the knowledge of school principals influences the quality of service. Thus the high and low quality of service of the head of the Islamic school can be influenced by the level of knowledge of management. The results of this study contribute to schools that have low-quality leadership services to serve as a basis for improvement.

Abstract

Field-based learning has long been used by teachers to enhance students learning. Futher, Field trips are recognized as important moments in learning; a shared social experience that provides the opportunity for students to encounter and explore novel things in an authentic setting. The need to develop an effective environmental education program ranks as one of the major challenges facing education in the next decade. This paper is focused on analyzing the effectiveness of field trips strategy on students’ writing descriptive text for a group of 30 students of second  semester of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru in academic year 2016/2017 who were selected by using random sampling. The data were collected by giving test (pre-test and post-test) This study used experimental reseacrch, used by the Mann-Whitney U t-test. The normality of the test was analysed through Kolmogorov-Smirnova..The instruments used in this study were lesson plans and writing descriptive text tests. Regarding the data analysis, mean, percentage and Mann-Whitney U test scores for the dependent sample were employed. The result of statistc indicated that the asymptotic significance of less than  0.05 (p = 0.00 < 0.05). it means the students’  ability in writing descriptive text increased significantly after learning with fild trip strategy.

Abstract

This paper shows the ELT educational trend has recently been gaining in significance in education systems throughout the world. English Language Teaching (ELT) has tremendously changed over the last one decade. Technology in education has become the buzz word in every educational environment. Technologies like internet, skype, you tobe, tweeter. Mobile phones and many more have added not only stimulus but also learners’ engagement and true interactivity with the classroom. One widespread method online teaching involves the use of skype, a powerful application that provides users with free internet voice chatting service.Skype can be a wonderful opportunity to expand learning situations through voice, text and video sessions.This paper is focused on analyzing the impact of Skype on students’ listening comprehension for a group of 21 students of fourth semester of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru in academic year 2014/2015. This study used classroom action research. The instruments of this research were tests, observation, interview, and field notes. The data collection was accomplished by means of students’ reflection questionnaires posterior to the Skype, field notes of the investigator, and comprehension tests. The finding shows that the use of Skype can improve students’ listening comprehension. It can be seen from the increasing of mean score of the tests.The results of the first cycle of 69.52 learning increased to 71.43 in the second cycle.

Abstract

Teaching speaking is an important part in the language teaching, as well as the assessing speaking. Therefore, teachers need to use some strategies in conducting the assessing speaking. Based on that issue, this research was aimed at exploring teachers’ strategies in assessing speaking skill. To explore the problems, case study with a qualitative approach was adopted. This research employed observation, questionnaire and interview in collecting the data and involved five teachers from MTsNAndalanPekanbaru. The collected data were analyzed by using flow data analysis process of Miles &Huberman (1994). The findings revealed that teachers apply the strategy of conducting the speaking assessment in the classroom which are started from the way they identify current status of classroom speaking assessment, the purpose of their speaking assessment, types speaking assessment, then selecting the teachers’ strategies of speaking assessment and last, teachers’ perceptions of the effectiveness of classroom speaking assessment. In general, teachers implementing some strategies in conducting the speaking assessment. There were discussion and conversation, question and answer, role play, repetition, etc. This research was expected to broaden teachers’ knowledge about strategies in assessing speaking in terms of the purpose and the type of assessment used, then teachers’ perceptions of speaking assessment.

Abstract

This study was intended to describe  the category of inflectional and derivational morphemes found in  Reading Texts of 2013 Curriculum English Textbook for the X Grade of Senior High Schools Published by Ministry of Education and Culture. Morpheme is used to refer to the smallest unit that has meaning or serves a grammatical function in a language. The morphemes which can meaningfully stand alone are called free morphemes while the morphemes such as –er and –s, which cannot meaningfully stand alone are called bound morphemes. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative. The results of this study show that Derivational prefixes consist of  inter-, eco-, un-, ar-, pre-, re-, pro-, be-, de-, in-, dis-, a-, ex-, auto-, mis-, agri-, em-, ap-, im- and al-. While,  Derivational suffixes consist of four categories. Thus are nominal, verbal, adjectival, and adverbial suffixes.  First, nominal suffixes, namely  –ism, -ation, -al, -ing, -ist, -or, -ity, -er, -ance, -ment, -ion, -ess, -ium, -ature, -ry, -ant, -ce, -ive, -cy, -y, -r, -ge, and -ness. Second, Verbal suffixes, namely –n and –ize. Third, Adjectival suffixes,  namely  –al, -ly, -ous, -ing, -able, -ic, -ish, -ive, -ian, -ny, -less, -ed, -ary, -nese, -y, and –ful and the last is adverbial suffix  –ly. Otherwise, the categories of inflectional morphemes that found in texts consist of  Noun suffixes (plural) such as;  –s, -ies, and –es, Noun suffixes (possessive) e.g;  –s’ and -’s, Verb suffixes (3rd person singular) are –s and –es, Verb suffixes (past tense) are –ed and –d, Verb suffixes (past participle) such as; –n, -d, and -ed, Adjective suffixes (comparative) are  –er, - r, and –ier and  Adjective suffixes (superlative) are –st and –est. Therefore, based on the result of finding verb suffixes are not found.

Abstract

This study aimed at exploring students’ attitudes and perceptions about the effectiveness of field trips strategy. The participants of this study were 40 English students of Universitas Islam Riau, Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied. This study employed an exploratory mixed-method design. The questionnaire consisted of three parts and 25 items which aimed at getting information about affective learning, the qualities among students and the contribution of a field trip on Society and Individuals. A five-point Likert-scale ranging from “ strongly agree’ to “strongly disagree” was asked to respondents to be selected. While a semi-structured interviewed was used together comprehensive information about the advantages of field trips in their study. The results of this study shown that field trips contribute to students’ learning experience positively, besides it can solve many problems in the classroom and enhance the ability of students to think critically and creatively.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to understand the effect of empowerment and job satisfaction toward job performance of lecturer in Majalengka University, West Java comprehensively. A survey method with path analysis techniques was used by applying a questioner as a research instrument. 80 responders were involved by sending their feedback within the questioner. Those responders were decided using simple random sampling among all lecturers that working at the Majalengka University. The data result, analysis, and interpretation reveal that (1) empowerment has a direct positive effect on job performance, (2) job satisfaction has an immediate positive impact on job performance, (3) empowerment has a direct positive impact on job satisfaction.
