Abstract

In the Muslim’s Scholar, codification’s history and difference of mushaf is a historical fact which must be honestly revealed without having any purpose to demolish fundamental doctrine of Islam on the qur’anic authenticities. This study revealed that Mushaf Uthmani beganfrom the second codification at the period of and by Uthman ibn Affan, meant as an effort to the uniformity of mushaf among Muslim communities. The second codification did not simply copy Abu Bakar’s mushaf which was represented as the result of the first codification, but also completing it with the sentences which are not yet recorded. The second codification was followed up by Uthman by releasing policy which obliged the use of mushaf Uthmani as single mushaf. However, this policy did not at once wipe out non-Uthmani’s mushaf, and did not lessen Qur’anic authenticities.Keywords: Codification of Alqur’an, Mushaf Uthmani, Standardization, Authenticity.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bermaksud mengkaji tafsir al-Jabiri dalam Fahm al-Qur`ān dengan mengajukan pertanyaan-pertanyaan berikut: Bagaimana epistemologi tafsir al-Jabiri? Apa pendapat alJabiri tentang tartīb al-nuzūl dan pengaruhnya terhadap pemaknaan al-Qur`an? Tafsir al-Jabiri didasarkan pada sumber konteks situasi dan budaya saat mana suatu ayat diturunkan. Hal itu didasarkan pada prinsip bahwa pemaknaan ayat-ayat al-Qur`an harus sesuai dengan makna yang dapat dipahami pada saat ayat tersebut diturunkan. Karena itu tartīb al-nuzūl menjadi aspek terpenting dalam tafsir al-Jabiri. Sebab tartīb al-nuzūl dapat memberikan arah bagi pararelisasi turunnya ayat dengan fase-fase dakwah Rasulullah Ṣalla Allah Alayhi wa sallam yang menciptakan konteks bagi pemaknaan ayat. Dalam menyusun tartīb al-nuzūl al-Jabiri menggunakan tartīb al-nuzūl versi kesarjanaan muslim sebagai acuan yang kemudian dimodifikasi dengan mengadopsi metode penyusunan tartīb al-nuzūl Noldeke dan Blachere. Penyusunan al-Jabiri menghasilkan tartīb al-nuzūl yang sama sekali berbeda dengan versi Noldeke maupun Blachere dan hanya berbeda dalam 13 surah dengan versi kesarjanaan Muslim. Abstract

Penafsiran bercorak i'rāb yang telah mapan sejak zaman dahulu, bukan tanpa adanya problem. Masalah tersebut pernah disinggung oleh Ibnu Hisham, ulama ahli nahwu tersebut berpendapat bahwa dalam melakukan penafsiran i'rāb harus mementingkan makna ayat ketika ada persoalan tarik menarik antara mementingkan makna ayat atau i'rāb. AlZamakhshari seorang mufassir yang menerapkan corak i'rāb dalam tafsirnya, al-Kashshāf menjadi menarik untuk diungkap bagaimana sikap terhadap problem tersebut. Tulisan ini mencoba mengkaji korelasi i'rāb dan makna dalam pandangan al-Zamakhshari.

Abstract

In his Koreksi Terjemah Harfiyah al-Qur`an, Muḥammad Ṭālib, the amÄ«r of the Majelis Mujahidin Indonesia, accuses the official Qur'ânic translation by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion for containing digression and at the same time- supporting radicalism. This article wants to describe and examine Ṭālib's argumentations. It finds that Ṭālib's inappropriate methodology lets him criticize the manuscript over-confidently. First, He has only read it partially and could not catch the whole meaning it provides. Second,  ignoring the fact that the exegetes whom he was referring to may provide alternatives for one particular word, Ṭālib has uncarefully treated his sources. Abstract

To protect the believed fundamental values​, a country/nation commonly applies the concept of friend and foe. Likewise, what had been done by Islam in the Medina period as a country tinged with tensions often leading to wars with the people of Mecca who were considered infidels, although in other side building friendly relation with the Habasyah Christian State. The condition strengthens that the Qur’an has been providing guidance to Muslims in formulating the sorting of friends and foes. Related to this, Surah al-Mumtaḥanah verses 8 and 9 discuss the concept of friend and foe. It is on this basis that a comprehensive study of the concept needs to be conducted to find the whole view about the topic. This study uses a thematic interpretation method of the surah and  the ethnographic analysis technique to explore the themes. The study concludes that the central theme of surah al-Mumtaḥanah is addressing opponents firmly and fairly, friend-foe relations are not solely based on religious differences, but also on real action, namely war and expulsion due to religious differences. The concept of friend and foe in surah al-Mumtaḥanah shows a new category of non-Muslims, namely non-Muslims who are friendly with Muslims either with or without a peace agreement.

Abstract

Asbab al-nuzul is one important instrument to holistically understand Qur’an verses. This study was intended to recognize the character of asbab al-nuzul by al-Wahidi and Lubāb al-Nuqūl by Jalaluddin al-Suyuti, as well as to elaborate the implications of asbab al-nuzul to the meaning of Al-Nūr 3 and Al-Furqan 68-70. The asbab al-nuzul history of the both books would be positioned as the initial information to be later verified and analyzed. The analized and verified history became an instrument to review the meaning of the verses in asbab al-nuzul case. The above process could simultaneously provide a preliminary view of the character of Asbāb al-Nuzūl al-Wāhidī and Lubāb al-Nuqūl Jalaluddin al-Suyūṭī.

Abstract

This article presents an analytical study of the consistency of the use of the translation method used by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia in the "Al-Qur`an and its Translation for the 2019 Completion Edition". The focus of this research is on the methods, procedures, and translation techniques used in translating Raḥmān's word to confirm the inconsistencies found. Judging from Newmark's theory related to translation methods, procedures, and techniques, this analysis leads to the conclusion that Raḥmān's word is consistently translated only in 1 verse because of the demands of the context at hand, namely in surah al-Isrā' [17]:110, while the others indicated inconsistency. This inconsistency occurs based on three things, namely 1) the chosen diction/translation word, 2) the technique or procedure used, namely the provision of explanatory words, either in brackets or not, and 3) the possibility of typos. Judging from the diction used, there are two choices of words used to translate Raḥmān's word, namely "Maha Pemurah" and "Maha Pengasih". There are 4 methods found in translating the two words, namely faithful translation method, transfer or transliteration procedure, note-taking procedure, and description technique.
