Abstract

Research the effect of andaliman leaf extract on mice ovaries, volume test material using oral gavage needles as much 0.1 ml / 10 g bb 4 days before and after estrus stage and using RAL non-factorial method consisting of control and treatment group. Treatment consisted of factor test material with dose 2500, 5000, 10000, 20000, 40000 ppm. Chemical content of andaliman leaf extract shown from results study are alkaloids, steroids and saponins. Giving treatment of andaliman leaf extract for 9 days on histological data in the number primary, secondary, De Graff, and atretic follicles experienced fluctuating changes, but statistically did not show a significant difference between treatment and control mice groups, while different results were significantly shown in the number of corpus luteum. Parameters diameter of primary follicles, De Graff, and corpus luteum tended to experience changes that fluctuated, but statistically did not show the difference between the treatment and control mice groups, while the diameter of secondary and atretic follicles showed significantly different results. From the results study, administration of andaliman leaf extract affects histological mice ovaries, because it affects oogenesis and ovulation, but fluctuates, possibly due to crude extract, which has not isolated chemical content.

Abstract

Kelompok kontrol hanya diberi akuades selama kehamilan 0-18 hari. Pemberian madu mampu mengurangi efek hepatotoksik MSG. Kesimpulan Madu mampu mengurangi efek hepatotoksik dari paparan MSG. Kata kunci : Kehamilan, lesi hepar, madu, monosodium glutamate (MSG). ABSTRACT Background Monosodium glutamate (MSG), a food additive that is still a controversial. High consumption of MSG will increase glutamate metabolism and free radical. Honey as antioxidant can remove free radical. The purpose of study was to determine the effects of honey therapy against hepatic lesions induced by MSG during pregnancy Methods The study was a true experimental with a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of a control group (K) and four treatment groups (P1-P4). The control group (K) was given distilled water during gestation days 0-18. During of 0-18 days of gestation, P1 were given MSG 4 mg/g body weight (BW)/day, P2 were given honey 0.15 g/20 g BW/day, and P4 were given MSG 0.15 g/20 g BW/day and honey 4 mg/g BW/day. Abstract

The purpose of this study is  to investigate the effect of n-hexane extract of andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.) fruit on craniofacial development of DDW Mice (Mus musculus L.). Experiment was carried out using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 6 replicates. Treatments  consist  of a blank control, vehicle control (1% CMC) and 3 concentrations of andaliman extract (2%, 4% and 6%). All treatments were administered by oral gavage (0.1 ml/10 g bw) once  daily from day 0 to day 10 of gestation.  N-hexane extract of andaliman fruit induced developmental abnormalities in craniofacial structures i.e. increased the incidence of microphthalmia (P <0.05), and hydrocephalus (P <0.05). In conclusion, we suggested that andaliman fruit may have fetotoxic effects.   Keyword: andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC.), micropthalmia, hydrocephalus
