Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of reading techniques that are effective and efficient, and to determine whether there is an effect of skimming reading techniques on students' reading comprehension skills to identify the intrinsic elements present in drama texts read by grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Tangerang City. This research is a quantitative research. Data collection techniques using tests, namely pretest and posttest. The results of this study indicate the influence of the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text on students who use skimming reading techniques. This effect has been carried out with the results of the t-test. Then it shows the results of t count 0.233 <t table 1.977, t count is smaller than t table, this shows that there is no significant difference between the experiment class students and the control class students on the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text. After the pretest is done posttest to find out, it shows the results of t count 1.982> t table 1,800, t count is greater than t table shows that there is a difference in the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text between students who receive learning about the use of skimming reading techniques and students who get conventional learning. From the data obtained like what is listed above, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using skimming reading techniques on the ability to identify the intrinsic elements of drama text in class VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Tangerang City

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the slang contained in Novel literature ‘’Analogi Cinta Berdua” by Dara Prayoga’’ Language is a tool used by humans to communicate language in the form of sound symbols issued by human speech organs, Slang is contemporary or easy to disappear and is not permanent, therefore it is rare to find slang that is permanent and long used for a long period of time. The approach used is qualitative to analyze the novel using the content analysis method From the results of the study, it was found that the use of slang in the form of linguistic symbols such as. Yoi, sekarang gue punya pacar!” From these quotations, researchers can find out the use of slang. The quote is translated into Indonesian as "yes now I have a lover".“Emang punya duit lo, Ka? Anak kos aja”. From these quotations, researchers can find out the use of slang. The quote is translated into Indonesian as "Do you really have money, Sis? Just kiddos." “Yah, giliran kalah main PES aja kabur. Cupu!”. From these quotations, researchers can know the use of slang. The quote is translated into Indonesian as "Well, it's your turn to lose playing PES, just run away. Geek!” In literary works there are those who use slang as their writing, such as in youth novels, the language is more popular with readers because the language is easy to understand and use in everyday life.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in students' Indonesian writing skills in short stories material who received flash cards and students who received conventional learning methods. The population in this study was class VIII SMP Aruslan, Sukamulya District, Tangerang Regency, for the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample in this study were students of class VIII.3 and VIII.4 totaling 60 students with a sampling technique using purposive sampling, two classes were selected, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received a picture card learning media (flash card), while the control group received conventional learning. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research instrument given was in the form of a test consisting of 10 questions in the form of an essay. Analysis prerequisite test using Chi Square test and Fisher's exact test, it was found that both samples were normally distributed and homogeneous. From the calculation of statistical tests obtained tcount > ttable (2, 48 > 1.99), then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted at a significant level = 0.05 with degrees of freedom (db) = 64. So it can be concluded that there are differences in students' short story writing abilities. which is taught with the media of picture cards (flash card) and which is taught by conventional learning methods. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using flash card media on students' short story writing skills.

Abstract

This paper looked into the language used in the advertisement of anti-aging cream based on a discursive psychology approach. The language used in the advertisement mainly raises the women's interest, especially when they hear the word "anti-aging" to resist aging skin, although the old may not be manipulated. This discursive research psychology is the approach used to give an understanding of the discourse phenomenon to show the contribution of creating women's social activity for their lifestyle. The language used in the online advertising course was the research data in this research. The data collection is based on the language used in online advertising discourse based on five kinds of cosmetics advertisement and 12 carrier women with 30-45 years old who lived in Jakarta. The qualitative descriptive is used to explain the phenomenon and social phenomena related to advertisement discourse and women's needs; then, the data were analyzed based on the interview. This research finding shows that, firstly, the advertisement's implicit meaning encourages and drives customers' psychology to try cosmetics. Secondly, the advertisement language's explicit meaning is propagated and seems exaggerated. Thirdly, the advertisement language encourages customers to buy the product due to the social relation and lifestyle.
