Abstract

Catamarans are double hull ships which have many advantages over single hull ships with the same displacement. To increase catches, fishermen in Cilacap converted ships from the original single hull with outrigger to double hull (catamaran). Displacement of ships has doubled. But the ship's resistance increased to almost 4 times. To reduce the resistance of catamarans, some researchers use the concept of center bulb. In this study, the center bulb form used foil. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of center bulb position on ship resistance components by comparing 9 center bulb positions. The results stated that of the nine center bulb position configurations, Model 6 is the best model because at Fr 0.35 it can reduce ship resistance by up to 33%. For the viscous resistance component it is not significantly affected by the use of the center bulb. But on the wave resistance component, the use of this center bulb can reduce wave resistance by 47% at Fr 0.35.

Abstract

AbstrakKapal Patroli merupakan kapal yang memiliki ukuran yang relatif kecil, namun memiliki kecepatan yang cukup tinggi. Bentuk kapal yang kecil akan berpengaruh terhadap gerakan rolling kapal, sehingga menarik untuk dibahas secara mendalam pengaruh pemasangan bilge keel terhadap gerakan kapal. Penelitian ini akan menganalisis pengaruh bilge keel yang ditambah jumlahnya menjadi 2 pasang dan 3 pasang terhadap efek gerakan rolling kapal agar dapat memperbaiki performa kapal menjadi lebih baik. Model kapal patroli yang telah didesain akan dianalisis menggunakan metode BEM (Boundary Element Method) yang terintegrasi untuk mendapatkan nilai rolling pada setiap model yang dianalisis. Pada penelitian ini, didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa penambahan jumlah bilge keel akan menambah RMS rolling sebesar 11-50% pada kecepatan rendah, namun dapat mengurangi RMS rolling sebesar 7-28% pada kecepatan tinggi.Kata kunci: Bilge Keel, Kapal Patroli, Olah Gerak Kapal, Rolling.AbstractA Study on the Effects of Bilge Keel Number on 14 m Patrol Boat’s Rolling Motion: Patrol boats can move at such high speed despite their relatively small size. This relatively small size will affect its rolling motions, hence the effect of bilge keel installation on ship motions is an interesting topic to discuss. In this study, the effect of adding bilge keel pair to 2 and 3 pairs of bilge keel on ship’s rolling motions was studied so that the ship’s performance becomes more optimal. The patrol boat model that had been designed was studied using integrated BEM (Boundary Element Method) to obtain each model’s rolling value. This study concluded that the addition of installed bilge keel pairs increased RMS rolling by 11-50% on low speed, but it reduced 7-28% RMS rolling at high speed.Keywords:  Bilge Keel, Patrol boats, Ship motions, Rolling.

Abstract

The study of “Lifeboat placement effectiveness” which was applied to the evacuation process of passenger ships should be based on the regulation of IMO MSC.1/Circ.1533. The analysis of the evacuation duration was important considering the high number of fatalities in shipping accidents based on KNKT data, as many as 686 people died in the last 7 years. This study analyzed the duration of evacuation using a simulation method based on “Agent Based Modelling Simulation” with the purpose to obtain a modeling framework to simulate the evacuation process to the lifeboat in 3 dimensions. Simulations were applied to 4 cases with 2 different lifeboat positions. The results of the analysis showed that the total value of the evacuation duration for lifeboats placement on the navigation deck which was placed close to the main stair of the exit route was leading than the placement in the existing position, which as case 1 lead by 1 minute, case 2 lead by 1 minute 2 seconds, case 3 lead by 23 seconds, and case 4 a lead by 17 seconds. The calculation also showed that the total evacuation duration in each case was valued at 60 minutes, which met the IMO MSC.1/Circ.1533 standard.
