Abstract

The purpose of the research are determine acceptance criteria the specimen based on ASME standard. The research used mild steel materials with hardness 220 HVN with sized 30 cm x 20 cm x 1.2 cm then  SMAW welding process position of 3G buttjoint with rooting electrode LB 52U diameter 2.6 mm used current 70 Amper and voltage 380 volt, for Filler used LB 5218 electrode 3.2 mm with current of 80 Amper and voltage of 380 volts. The welding process influenced by many factor which cause failure. The method for inspect result of weld used Non Destructive Test Penetrant Testing (NDT PT) and used ASME standard for acceptance criteria. The test results showed the discontinuity of porosity on the surface of the welded product in specimen 1 is the largest rounded 5 mm at 233 mm distance so that based on the acceptance criteria of AWS standard, the welding result is accepted and the specimen 2 there is discontinuity at 233 mm with the size of 8 mm so that Otherwise rejected. This rejected result can be improved by gouging the discontinuity and then welded.

Abstract

Hazardous and toxic waste (LB3) is one of the environmental impacts that must be managed in the Republic of Indonesia in accordance with Indonesian Law No. 32 / 2009 on the Protection and Environmental Management Article 58. B3 is the residue of a business and / or activities that contain hazardous and toxic. Hazardous and Toxic waste generated shall be reduced in accordance with Article 10 of Indonesian Regulation No. 101 / 2014 on the Management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste. One sector that has a real contribution in donating B3 waste generation is the energy sector. PT Pertamina, which is engaged in the energy sector undertake efforts to reduce hazardous waste generation on the activities of pumping the fuel at the Balongan Fuel Terminal. The case studies conducted in Balongan. Starter activities that were previously used accumulator pose as hazardous waste to be modified. Reduced waste generation by Fuel Terminal Balongan by modifying the diesel engine starter system method with compressed air.

Abstract

Generally, wind energy sources in Indonesia's coastal areas is one of the potential sources of renewable energy (renewable energy resources) which are abundant, environmentally friendly and renewable. Savonius wind turbines can produce relatively high torque even at low wind speeds. Because it is very well developed to produce electrical energy. To get a large electric power, a large turbine construction is also needed which also certainly requires a large cost. For this reason, it is necessary to develop the dimensions of this wind turbine construction which is known as aspect ratio (Ar). The Ar that has been researched is the blade section, and other values. While the arch depth or the length of the blade arc in U -type is still likely to be researched. Therefore, it is necessary to do research on the U-type blade arc to get greater power than before. In addition to the experimental method with a prototype of the U type Savonius wind turbine with a number of 2 blades, a software-based simulation method will be carried out to analyze the air flow on the wind turbine blade. Parameters varied only with the aspect ratio of the arc length and blade cross section width, other parameters follow the previous research. This analysis will be a comparative data with experimental methods. The expected simulation results obtain the best aspect ratio (Ar) blade in capturing wind energy.

Abstract

Street vendors or traders who sell on the side of the road or who sell in city parks have lighting problems, because lighting is very influential on visitors or buyers. For areas close to people's homes, traders distribute lamps from one of the residents to turn on the lights by paying Rp.5,000. This study aims to help street vendors overcome the problem of lighting using alternative electric energy based on Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) type TEC-12706 with the side using fire generated by rice husk briquettes while the cold side using a 12V DC fan. This study uses several variations to light the lamp effectively and efficiently, including: variations in the number of cooling fans (without fans, 1 fan and 2 fans), variations of the peltier series (series, parallel and combination), variations in the number of peltiers (3 peltier and 6 peltier ). Based on the test results on the Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) the highest temprature difference is produced using 1 fan with 131.4 ℃, a circuit with 3 peltiers that produces the highest voltage, current and power using a series circuit with 6.84V, 0.28A, and 1.92W, and which is able to turn on a 12V 5 Watt DC lamp using 6 peltier to produce 13.5V, 0.55A, and 7,425W. So that with six peltier can turn on one fan and one 5 watt DC lamp.

Abstract

Salah satu wilayah yang memiliki pesisir pantai yang begitu panjang ialah Indramayu sehingga bisa dimanfaatkan untuk mensejahterakan masyarakat sekitar. Penggunaan kincir angin pemompa air garam di Indramayu belum optimal dikarenakan penggunaan blade yang masih menggunakan bahan bekas seperti drum, kayu yang mempengaruhi produktivitas garam. Untuk mengoptimalkan kincir angin pemompa air garam perlu adanya penelitian blade dengan bahan komposit dan juga variasi sudut blade yang dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas garam. Parameter yang digunakan ialah dengan memberi kecepatan pada masingmasing sudut blade yaitu 5-9 m/s. Variasi blade yang akan diteliti ialah 5°, 15°, 25°, 35°, 45°. Pada blade dengan sudut 35° memiliki nilai gaya tertinggi yaitu sebesar 99,738 N dengan input kecepatan 9 m/s. Sedangkan pada sudut blade 5° memiliki nilai gaya terkecil yaitu sebesar 12,805 N pada input kecepatan 5 m/s. Pada blade dengan sudut 25° memiliki nilai tekanan tertinggi yaitu sebesar 134736,88 Pa dengan input kecepatan 9 m/s. Sedangkan pada sudut blade 45° memiliki nilai tekanan terkecil yaitu sebesar 125270,59 Pa pada input kecepatan 7 m/s. Pada penelitian ini blade dengan kemiringan sudut 35° memiliki aliran udara yang lebih optimal dibandingkan dengan kemiringan sudut lainnya serta mampu menghasilkan gaya diatas 5 kg sehingga mampu mengangkat pompa air dalam keadaan penuh.

Abstract

Indramayu terletak di utara jawa. Selain pengasil ikan dan mangga, Indramayu merupakan lumbung padi nasional. Hal tersebut dapat berdampak pada kualitas air nya. Lokasi yang terdampak air keruh adalah Pondok Pesantren Manbaul Ulum Indramayu. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dan mengurangi limbah sekam padi di Indramayu maka timbulah ide untuk membuat karbon aktif dari sekam padi untuk filtrasi air. Sekam padi dipanaskan 100oC dalam oven selama 1 jam. Proses dehidrasi ini dilakukan agar pembuatan karbon lebih mudah. Selanjutnya sekam padi dilakukan pembakaran 300oC sampai terbentuk arang. Kemudian karbon tersebut dipanaskan di dalam furnace dengan suhu 750oC selama 3 jam untuk proses aktivasi karbon. Setelah itu karbon dari sekam padi dimasukan ke dalam alat filtrasi air bersama dengan pasir silika dan zeolite untuk meningkatkan daya serap filtrasi air. Hasil dari pengujian air secara fisika, kimia dan bakteriologi di dapatkan penurunan kadar pencemar sesudah dipasang alat filtrasi air.
