Abstract

Abstract

Tanjungpura University is one of the State Universities in West Kalimantan. Waste management in the Tanjungpura University area still applies the old waste management paradigm. Waste management in the Tanjungpura University area still applies the old paradigm of waste management, which has an impact on environmental problems, because waste management has not been handled optimally. Therefore, it is necessary to plan a waste management system with a new paradigm that integrates the 3R concept (Reuse, Reduce and recycle) with the Waste Bank. The research data were obtained through in-depth interviews and field sampling using the SNI-19-3964-1994 method for 8 days. The results of the study show that waste generation in 2035 will be 39,035 l/day. The projected results of waste generation and waste composition form the basis for waste management system planning. The waste management system includes sorting waste at the source, designing segregated containers, designing waste collection cars, processing organic and inorganic waste, and designing 3R-based Waste Processing Site which is integrated with the Waste Bank. This plan is expected to help develop Tanjungpura University with a Green Campus concept.

Abstract

Open dumping activities at the Batu Layang TPA can potentially cause leachate pollution to the environment. Leachate that seeps into the ground can contaminate groundwater. Most people around the Batu Layang TPA use groundwater for MCK (bath, wash, toilet) purposes. If the groundwater is contaminated with leachate and used sustainably by the community, it will impact health problems. Therefore, it is necessary to manage the distribution of leachate. One of the leachate management systems is modeling the potential distribution of leachate below the soil surface. The purpose of this research is to analyze the distribution of subsurface leachate around the Batu Layang landfill area based on the resistivity value. They are modeling the potential distribution of leachate below the ground surface in this study using the Wenner configuration geoelectric method. Processing of geoelectrical measurement data using Res2DInv software so that the potential distribution of leachate under the soil surface is obtained in 2 Dimensional forms. The result of this research is the resistivity value <10 m is interpreted as leachate, with an error rate (RMS error) of 7.7–11.3%. The geology of the study area is composed of peat soil, where the constituent rocks have high porosity (83.43–92.92%) and increased permeability (2.97×10-5–8.31×10-5 m/s). Porosity and permeability affect the infiltration of leachate into the soil. The topography of the study area is relatively flat, so it is estimated that the velocity of leachate distribution horizontally and vertically under the soil surface is moderate.

Abstract

The open dumping system implemented by the Batu Layang landfill can produce leachate, contaminating groundwater around the landfill. Groundwater contaminated with leachate, if used by the community, can cause health problems. Therefore, management efforts were needed, such as subsurface leachate modeling. This study aims to model the distribution of subsurface leachate in 2 dimensions. The modeling of leachate distribution below the soil surface used the Wenner configuration geoelectric method. The number of geoelectric measurement paths was two paths. The length of each track was 195 m, with a distance of 5 m between the electrodes. Data obtained from resistivity values were analyzed using the Res2Dinv application. The calculation of leachate discharge used the water balance method. Based on the inversion results using the Res2Dinv software, the resistivity value of leachate-contaminated soil in line 1 was 1.19-9.43 Ωm, and track 2 was 0.5-10.2 Ωm. The leachate resistivity value was <10 Ωm because the leachate contains inorganic minerals (metals), so the resistivity value was low. Land contaminated with leachate was estimated to be spread as far as 195 m. The most profound leachate depth was estimated at 39.4 m. Batu Layang Landfill leachate discharge in Zone E averages 4 m3/day.

Abstract

PT. Karya Sumber Alam Perkasa is a mining company of granite commodities located in Pandan Sembuat Village, Tayan Hulu District, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan that uses hauling road pavement materials from other locations, so this research is carried out by testing the feasibility of using overburden to be used as hauling pavement material in pit three where the mining will be carried out. This research by taking three samples of disturbed soil in the field randomly for testing in the laboratory related to the physical properties (specific gravity, sieve analysis, hydrometer, liquid limit, plastic limit), compaction and soaking CBR to obtain results that become the parameters according the specification so the conclusions drawn regarding the feasibility if the sample to be a houling road pavement material. The result of this research are in the AASHTO classification the first sample is in A-7-6 group, the second sample is in A-7-5 group while the third sample in A-2-6 group, in the Van Der Merwe Limitation for the first and the second sample are in the same class which is medium, while the third sample is in the low class. The immersion CBR values for the first, second, and third samples were 1,791%, 0,448%, and 5,663% so that all three samples are not suitable to be used as road pavement material for hauling road at PT. KSAP because it can’t fulfil some conditions which are the provisions in its specification.
