Abstract

The aim of this research is to explain the quality of students’ writing in terms of conjunction and to analyze students’ problems using conjunction in writing narrative text. This research is a qualitative research method. This research also aim to know the causes of stuents’ problem using conjunction in writing narrative text. The writer chooses MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan as the location of the research. The informant of this research are all of the students who comes from the seventh grade of MTs YPKS Padangsidimpuan. But, the writer only took one class to do this research that is VII-1.There are 30 students in this class and the writer only focus on 9 students. They have problems in using conjunction. The problems are related to the use of coordinating and subordinating conjunction. The reason of the problems in using conjunction in writing is based on linguistic, pragmatic, cognitive and cultural factor. Four of them give influence that causes the lack conjunction writing. Therefore, an intensive attention should be given by the lecture to facilitate the students to practice writing in the classroom and do peer correction.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi yang begitu pesat memunculkan berbagai macam media sosial yang digunakan di kalangan masyarakat terutama mahasiswa sebagai kalangan masyarakat berpendidikan. Penggunaan media sosial tersebut bukan hanya memberikan dampak yang positif namun juga dampak negatif. Untuk menghindari dampak negatif dari penggunaan media sosial bagi mahasiswa maka diperlukan adanya analisis terhadap kemampuan literasi media dalam menggunakan media sosial. Mahasiswa pria maupun wanita dalam kehidupan sosial memiliki peran dan kedudukan yang berbeda, khususnya dalam penggunaan media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dan menganalisis kemampuan literasi media mahasiswa berdasarkan perspektif gender di Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan mengenai pemberitaan covid-19. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan instrumen kuesioner. Adapun respondem diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang berjumlah 20 orang mahasiswa lelaki dan wanita. Kemudian data akan dianalisis dengan tabel frekuensi dan skor untuk melihat tingkat kemampuan literasi media.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the students’ motivation in learning reading comprehension by using google classroom media. This research is a qualitative research method. The writer choose Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan as the location of the research. The informant of this research are all of the students at the first grade of English Department Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The researcher used questionaire in analyzing students’ motivation in using google classroom. Methodology of the research was a qualitative research. The result from the questionnaire showed that most of the students agreed and strongly agreed that Google Classroom was implemented in the students’ classroom. The result from this article also showed that the students’ motivation in learning online reading comprehension using Google Classroom got positive responses and they learned with high motivation. Keywords: motivation, reading comprehension, and google classroom.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to find out : 1) the extent of the students’types of questions mastery at the first grade students of English Department Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan 2) the extent of students; reading ability at the fisrt grade students of English Department Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan 3) whether there is a significant correlation between types of questions mastery and reading ability at the fisrt grade students of English Department Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The population of this research was the fisrt grade students of English Department Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The population of this study consisted of 42 students. So, the sample was 42 students. The method of the research is descriptive method. Thus for collecting data, the writer used multiple choice as the instrument. In analyzing the data, the writer use r product moment formula. The result was found that the data calculation or is 0.631. While rtable o,374. It means rxy is higher than rtable. On the other words ther is a significant correlation between students’ types of questions mastery and their reading ability at the first grade students of English Department Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan 2021/2022 academic year.
