Abstract

Hadis adalah riwayat tentang perkataan, perbuatan, keputusan, sifat yang disandarkan kepada Nabi SAW. Dari segi sumber, volume dan cara periwayatannya, memahami hadis jauh lebih berat ketimbang memahami al-Qur'ān. Al-Qur'ān yang merupakan kalam Allah Yang Maha Tahu meski diturunkan secara gradual seakan merespon perkembangan zaman saat penurunan wahyu, tentu ayat-ayatnya bisa dipahami tanpa mengkaitkannya dengan konteks historis penurunannya (al-‘ibrah bi ‘umūm al-lafẓ). Lain halnya dengan hadis yang bersumber dari Nabi SAW yang kadang diucapkan/dilakukan dalam konteks historis dan peran tertentu serta kebanyakan disampaikan dengan cara yang tidak mutawātir dan kadang bukan dengan redaksi yang asli dari Nabi SAW. Karenanya para ulama kebanyakan lebih cenderung untuk mengendalikan diri dan mengutamakan sikap reserfe (segan) dalam melakukan telaah ulang dan pengembangan pemikiran terhadap hadis, karena banyaknya kendala yang menghadang di tengah jalan ditambah kerumitan untuk meneliti satu persatu mata rantai periwayatan (rijāl al-ḥadīṡ) yang membutuhkan waktu cukup lama dan tersebarnya materi matan hadis di berbagai kitab hadis. Artikel ini membahas tentang acuan kerangka memahami hadis-hadis sahih secara sanad, tetapi mengandung kemusykilan makna untuk konteks kekinian ataupun yang mengandung kontradiksi antara satu hadis dengan lainnya. Sehingga dengannya dapat diketahui mana hadis yang bisa diamalkan (ma‘mūl bih) dan mana hadis yang tidak bisa diamalkan (gairu ma‘mūl bih).

Abstract

As a basis on which the dissemination of Islam in Indonesia has laid over 500 years, Pesantren (Islamic boarding educational institution) has thought various Islamic disciplines, including hadis (prophetic tradition). There has been abundance of hadis literatures to be thought in Pesantrens -to mention some of them- such as Bulûgh al-Marâm, Riyâḍ al-Ṣâliḥîn, al-Aẓkâr, Ṣaḥîḥ al-Bukhârî, Ṣaḥîḥ Muslim, etc. All of these books together with the learning activities have raised particular academic ambiences in Indonesia’s Muslim societies.Compared to another disciplines of Islamic studies, such as Islamic Jurisprudence, Qur’anic exegesis, and Arabic language, hadis studies in Pesantrens unfortunately can be deemed as in stagnancy, even in this time. The fact about the limited number of distinguish scholar on the discipline confirms this claim. This writing is aimed at portraying the map of learning development of hadis discipline in several Pesantrens in the province of Banten through hadisliteratures, as well as the methods of learning and factors that slow down the study of hadis.

Abstract

Understanding the meaning of ummiy in the hadith does not seem to be able to be done partially, because this will lead to misinterpretation of a hadith text containing the term. Understanding the meaning of ummiy in the hadith by highlighting aspects of language and history is an important option to do. This can be the basis for placing the meaning of ummiy as the material for the next study. This study aims to reveal the meaning of ummiy in the hadith inclusively and contextually. This research is qualitative in nature using linguistic and historical approaches, and the existing data is presented in an analytical descriptive manner. The results of this study reveal that the term ummiy in the hadith does not only have one meaning, but has multiple meanings. Based on the language aspect, the term ummiy can be interpreted as illiterate, people who are not blessed with books and people who have bad characteristics. Meanwhile, from a historical point of view, the term ummiy is interpreted as illiterate and a title for Arabs in general. Thus, the meaning of the term ummiy needs to be adapted to the context. This relates to the subject characterized by the term, in this case the Prophet himself and the Arabs in general.
