Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify some characters of mangrove gastropod’s shell, which varied among species and modified from its basic structure. Some characters are often lost or added make some difficulties for the student to identify the characters. Those characters are also confusing and lead to missidentification respectively. From that case, studying the variation of the shell characters among species and its modification from the original structure of gastropod's shell is needed. A model and description of the shell and its characters is useful guide for identification and also as an  alternative teaching material for studying the gastropod.Mangrove gastropod's specimens from previous research ( Karyanto et al. 2003) are the materials studied on; represent the numerous variation and modification of gastropod's shell. The basic structures are identified according to Robert et al (1982), Pechenik (1991) and Beeslev et al (1998). Variation and modification whether reduction or addition from its original were then mentioned and schemed. The shells of the 9 families of gastropod show some specific features, which respective to the shell structure offamily, thus the identification to the family can be carried out by using the shell characters offamily. Some characters that lead to the genera and species are more various and sophisticate. Axial ridges, transversal ridges, eroded apex, elongated siphonal canal, spine, thickened aperture, the presence of the aperture teeth, thickening operculum with calcareous material and coloration are some variant that obtained. Those characters reflect modification and play some important notes while studying the shell

Abstract

This research were aimed to know the impact of highly motivated in biological learning and learning method toward the student’s achievement. This is the descriptive quantitative ex post facto research.. The population being sampled was all student of second grade of SMU N Colomadu, Karanganyar, which comes from 79 students of two classes. Clustered random sampling was used. The research variable were learning method and learning motivation as the independent variable, beside the achievement as a dependent one. The data was collected by collecting technique which using documentation and questionnaire. The data was then analysed by analysis of variance and linear regression.Research results are: (1) there is an impact of learning method on the student achievement. (2) There is a significant impact of highly motivated in learning toward student achievement. (3) Both, the two factors are influence the student achievement respectively

Abstract

The objective of this research was knowing the effectiveness of the remedial technique toward some difficulties in studying biological science on second grade student of SLTP Negeri 3 Sragen in the academic year of 2002 / 2003 and comparing those two mwthods. This experimental research was carried out at SLTP N 3 Sragen. Purposive sampling technique was used on 66 students, Test technique was used, the data obtained then analyzed by t test.The results showed as follows: the average achievement before remedial treatment was of 4, 55 beside in a value of 6, 29 after treted (t observed 11, 30 > t table 2, 03).On the other hand, in the control , the average achievement before the conventional technique treatment was of 4,48, and after the treatment, the value was of 5.6 ( t obtained = 7,95 > t ud>ie - 2,03). The average increase of the students achievement for the experiment group was of 1, 74, beside the average increase of 1.16 for the control group, (t observed = 2, 74 > t = 1, 66). Those statistical data showed that there was significant difference of biological study achievement before and after the implementation of remedial and conventional technique. The data also showed that the remedial technique ismore effective than the conventional one.
