Abstract

The change in curriculum aims to improve the quality of content and learning. One of the backgrounds of the curriculum revision is based on international tests on students’ competency and literation, such as PISA. In PISA, literacy-numeracy becomes one of the essential evaluation of mathematics competency. Therefore, the use of literacy problems should be administered in the primary school class. In order to implement the literacy-numeracy problem in the class well, the teachers are required to be able to develop functional literacy problems. This workshop on writing literacy-numeracy for elementary teachers in Ponorogo City was conducted in three stages. The first stage collected the fundamental knowledge of the teachers about what they understand about literacy-numeracy. The second stage was a discussion about the literacy-numeracy and its both background and classroom implementation, especially in elementary school. The last stage was the teachers’ workshop in arranging the literacy-numeracy problems. In the end, the problems developed by the teachers were analyzed based on literacy-numeracy criteria. Besides, the participants also gave feedback using a questionnaire as the information for the effectivity of the workshop.

Abstract

Learning design is one of the factors that support the learning process in order to achieve learning objectives in all subjects including mathematics. Many approaches can be employed by a teacher in making learning design, one of which is rigorous mathematical thinking (RMT) approach. The RMT approach puts forward students actively in constructing their knowledge through the use of psychological tools and mediation. This article reports a set of learning activities designed through a developmental study using the RMT approach in the topic of application of derivatives. Participants of this research were twenty-six of 11th grade students from a private secondary school. Data were collected through written test and classroom observation. The research instruments were student worksheet and observation sheet. In the learning process, students use psychological tools to connect their previous knowledge to the material being studied. This makes students able to construct their own knowledge more thoroughly. On the other hand, with the mediation carried out by the teacher, students can focus more and understand each material well and bridge the conceptual errors. Based on the results of the study and some literature, Design of learning activities using Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) on application of derivative can be an alternative as effective learning.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa dalam membuat prediksi secara sederhana dari grafik yang diberikan. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga mahasiswa berkemampuan akademik sedang. Data penelitian diperoleh dari masalah tentang prediksi berdasarkan grafik dan hasil wawancara yang dianalisis secara kualitatif berdasarkan indicator keterampilan berpikir kritis: inference, analysis, evaluate, dan inference beserta sub-keterampilan masing-masing indikator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek yang merupakan mahasiswa berkemampuan akademik sedang bervariasi dalam menunjukkan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Satu subjek memenuhi semua indikator katerampilan berpikir kritis dan dua subjek yang lain belum mampu memenuhi semua indikator dengan lengkap. Ketiga subjek menggunakan strategi yang mirip, yaitu menggunakan pola bilangan namun terdapat perbedaan dalam proses pelaksanaan strategi. Deskripsi ini dapat digunakan sebagai masukan oleh pengajar dalam melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Kata kunci: keterampilan berpikir kritis, prediksi, grafik Abstract The purpose of this study was to describe students' critical thinking skills in making predictions simply from the given graph. The subjects of this study consisted of three students with intermediate academic abilities. The research data were obtained from problems regarding predictions based on graphs and interview results which were analyzed qualitatively based on indicators of critical thinking skills: inference, analysis, evaluate, and inference along with the sub-skills of each indicator. The results showed that the subjects who were students with moderate academic abilities showed varied critical thinking skills. One subject meets all indicators of critical thinking skills and the other two subjects have not been able to fulfill all indicators completely. The three subjects used a similar strategy, namely using a number pattern but there were differences in the strategy implementation process. This description can be used as input by the teacher in practicing students' critical thinking skills. Keywords: critical thinking skill, prediction, graph

Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka merupakan kurikulum berbasis kompetensi yang menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis proyek (Project Based Learning - PjBL) untuk mendukung pengembangan karakter sesuai dengan Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Pembelajaran berbasis Proyek (PjBL) menjadi fokus utama pada Kurikulum Merdeka. Dalam Kurikulum Merdeka, sekolah diberikan keleluasaan dan kemerdekaan untuk memberikan proyek-proyek pembelajaran yang relevan dan dekat dengan lingkungan sekolah. Salah satu inovasi pembelajaran yang bisa dikembangkan adalah pendekatan Matematika Realistik (Realistic Mathematics - RM). RM sebagai suatu pendekatan mampu membuat PjBL menjadi pembelajaran yang efektif terutama dalam peningkatan kemampuan numerasi. Kenyataannya, masih banyak guru yang kesulitan dalam berinovasi dan mengembangkan PjBL. Pelatihan kali ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran guru yang terkait pengembangan pembelajaran RM-PjBL. Workshop ini dilakukan dalam luring dan daring asynchronous. Pada kegiatan luring dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop pendampingan penyusunan pembelajaran berbasis RM-PjBL. Kemudian, kegiatan dilanjutkan daring asynchronous melalui google classroom mengembangakn LKPD berbasis RM-PjBL didampingi oleh instruktur. LKPD yang sudah disusun oleh peserta, akan dievaluasi dan dianalisis berdasarkan instrumen analisis LKPD berbasis RM-PjBL. Selain itu, peserta mengisi angket respon untuk mengetahui efektifitas dan keberhasilan workshop ini. Di akhir pelatihan, guru-guru mampu mendesain pembelajaran berbasis RME-PjBL sesuai kriteria yang diberikan dan memberikan respon positif terkait pelaksanaan workshop.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is defined as the ability possessed by an individual in formulating, employing, and interpreting mathematics in a variety of contexts. This research aims to describe the mathematical literacy processes of Junior High School students in solving PISA-like problems on space and shape content. The method in this research used qualitative descriptive. The research subject was students of the ninth grade in SMP Negeri 2 Krembung on Sidoarjo, which consisted of twenty-nine students. The instruments used were test and interview. The results showed that the students’ mathematical literacy was classified as less for the process of formulating. Some students still find many difficulties, such as difficulty in determining the strategy used in solving the problem as well as errors in calculation and drawing conclusion. The students’ mathematical literacy was classified as quite good for the process of employing. Students understand the intent of the problem and know what strategy used, although there were some minor errors in calculation or drawing a conclusion. The students’ mathematical literacy was classified as very lacking in the process of interpreting. Students only guess because students were still unable to understand the meaning of the questions and what strategies were used to solve the given problems to answer questions.

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media based on PowerPoint VBA on a system of two-variable linear equations and determine the results of the development of learning media in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research uses the ADDIE development model. The instruments used included media validation sheets for media experts, media validation sheets for material experts, pretest-posttest sheets, student and teacher observation sheets, and user response questionnaire sheets. Based on the results of the research that has been done, an average validity value of 3.08 (media expert) and 3.29 (material expert) is obtained so that it can be categorized that PowerPoint VBA-based interactive learning media is valid. This learning media trial was conducted on a limited basis to 25 class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Dlanggu to obtain data from practicality (student observation sheets, teacher observation sheets, and user response questionnaires) and media effectiveness (pretest and posttest). The results of the study after being tested and evaluated, that this learning media is said to be practical because based on the percentage of user response questionnaires obtained 75.75% or it can be used without revision and based on student and teacher observation sheets each obtained a very good category with a percentage of 93.68 % and 78.57%. Based on the pretest and posttest with an N-Gain value of 0.37, it can be said that this PowerPoint VBA-based interactive learning media is effective in the moderate category.

Abstract

In the current technological era, the use of technology is important in the world of education.Trends in Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2019 showcases the importance of using learning technology to increase the effectiveness of learning and teaching. Educators need to make adjustments to develop the quality of learning by using technological media in learning. One of them is by using a smartphone. Thus it is necessary to develop media-based learningsmartphone. The purpose of this research is to find out the process and results of the development of instructional media "Plus And Minus” in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research is a development research using the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used include media validation sheets for media experts, media validation sheets for material experts, student response questionnaire sheets and learning achievement test sheets. Based on the results of the research that has been done, an average validity value of 3.12 (media expert) and 2.78 (material expert) is obtained so that it can be categorized as learning media "Plus And Minusthis is valid. This learning media trial was conducted on a limited basis to 30 class VII-A students of SMP Negeri 1 Mojowarno to obtain data from practicality (student response questionnaires) and media effectiveness (learning achievement score sheets). The results of the research after being tested and evaluated, that learning media is declared practical with a good category gets a score of 3.02 or a percentage of 75.5%. Effective criteria are obtained from the results of the learning outcomes test scores. Learning media is declared effective with a good category with a percentage value of 60.46667%.
