Abstract

Sebagai makhluk sosial, manusia menggunakan bahasa untuk berkomunikasi secaralisan maupun tulisan. Pada prinsipnya bahasa memiliki dua kategori yaitu bahasa yangdisampaikan menggunakan tindak tutur yang sopan dan tidak sopan. Kemudianpenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui wujud kesopanan tindak tutur mahasiswaSemester VII Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Lancang Kuningdalam melaksanakan ujian proposal dan skripsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatandeskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu rekaman di dalam seminarproposal atau skripsi yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa semeseter VII yang mengikutiujian. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari penilitian bahwa partisipan atau mahasiswayang sedang ujian proposal dan skripsi dalam memberikan informasi sangat beragamyaitu dengan memberikan informasi yang sesuai dengan fakta terdiri dari 7 informasidengan menggunakan maxim of quantity dan 6 memberikan informasi yang tidakrelevan atau tidak sesuai dengan fakta, kemudian untuk maxim quality terdiri dari 4informasi yang diberikan dengan jelas dan berkualitas sesuai dengan pertanyaan yangdiberikan. Sedangkan untuk maxim of manner tidak terlihat pada penelitian yangdilakukan pada mahasiswa semester 7 dalam mengikuti ujian proposal. Dapatdisimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa semester VII Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan,Universitas Lancang Kuning memiliki kemampuan tindak tutur yang baik, sehinggadapat dikatakan bahwa kesopanan mereka dalam berkomunikasi dengan lawan bicaratergolong baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan hasil analisis gaya bahasa dalam terjemahan puisi“My Mistress’ Eyes are Nothing Like the Sun” Oleh Mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan BahasaInggris Fakultas Keguruan Dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Lancang Kuning dan kesulitankesulitanyang ditemui mahasiswa selama proses menerjemahkan berlangsung. Penelitian inimenggunakan metode deskriptif yang tidak memberikan perlakuan, manipulasi atau mengubahpada variabel-variabel bebas, tetapi menggambarkan hasil analisis pada terjemahan puisi “MyMistress’ Eyes are Nothing Like the Sun”. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan denganmemberikan tes menerjemahkan sebuah puisi yang berjudul “My Mistress’ Eyes are NothingLike the Sun” ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil analisis data dapat mengidentifikasi jenis gayabahasa yang digunkan mahasiswa dalam terjemahan puisi tersebut. Adapun gaya bahasa yangterdapat dalam hasil terjemahan mahasiswa antara lain adalah litotes, hiperbola, dan ironi. Selainitu, kesulitan yang ditemui mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan adalah unsur budaya danpemilihan padanan kata. Hasil penelitian yang ditemukan diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan kajianuntuk menerapkan metode dan sumber belajar yang tepat dalam proses pembelajaranTranslation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the study is some students wrongly order the word in a sentence as the result of word by word translation and they translate it using translation machine like Google translate so that it is still has an errors in sentence or word. By doing the project uploaded as subtitle in form of video and music in students’ You Tube channel, so around the world see it and become evaluation to the next translator become a good translator. The research aimed to find out the common lexical errors in subtitling projects at the eighth semester students of English Education Department. The research design was descriptive quantitative. Subject the research was 20 students. The instrument was documentation. From the data analysis by rater’s one, it was found that students made lexical error was 136 cases included in semantic confusion was 44 cases with percentages 32.35% was the common lexical error. From the rater’s two was 109 lexical errors still with semantic confusion was 40 cases with percentage 36.69%. It means that the students had enough English vocabulary but they do not know the usage of words in sentences when translate it. Also, it means that students need more practice in translation because of some errors still happen.

Abstract

This research is concerned about students’ ability in identifying types of supporting ideas of text (Example and Illustration, Reason, Facts Statistics, and Description). The aim of this research is to increase their knowledge about types of supporting detail so they are not only read a text but also know about types of supporting detail. This research used descriptive quantitative, the writer taken the data used test; the test consists of ten items. After analyzing the data, writer concluded that the English students at the fourth semester in identifying types of supporting ideas were categorized into good level. The writer found that there were some of students have low proficiency in identifying types of supporting detailsand most of students have a good proficiency.

Abstract

At the eight grade of MTs Taufiq Walhidayah Pekanbaru, the researcher found some problem, such as the students at grade VIII.2 were not understand how to get main point of the text, they were not understand the meaning of word in Narrative text and they were difficult to differentiate between orientation and complication. They were not pass the passing grade (75), that was why the researcher conducted this research which aimed to improve students‟ reading skill in narrative text by using window notes strategy. This research was Classroom Action Research. There were 22 students involved as participants. The instruments used were test, observation, field note, and interview. This research consisted of two cycles in which each cycle consisted of four meetings and one test. After conducting this research, it was found that the students‟ ability in reading narrative text not improved in cycle 1. the average score was 71,36. Moreover, in cycle 2 the average score was 86,36 increase 15 points from cycle 1. The factor that influenced students‟ improvement of reading skill in narrative text by using Window Notes strategy at the eighth grade of MTs Taufiq Walhidayah Pekanbaru were Attention, Interesting and enjoyable. In conclusion, the use of window notes strategy is successfull to improve students‟ reading skill in narrative text at the eighth grade of MTs Taufiq Walhidayah Pekanbaru.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis program aims at improving Elementary teachers’ skill in Rumbai Pekanbaru in developing multimedia as an interesting and motivated teaching media in the classroom in order to create a pleasant learning atmosphere to improve the students’ learning outcome. This program has been handling from March to October 2018 with some phases. This program has some phase there are observation, socialization, training, monitoring, and evaluation. The outcomes targeted were teacher’s skill improvement, scientific paper, learning media, and mass media publication. Training phase was conducted on 24 to 26 of May, 2018 in Language Center of University of Lancang Kuning. There were 9 participants who followed this training and they have been developing draft of multimedia as a learning media and it will be completed in few months later with help and guidance from the team of this program through monitoring phase. In the end of the training, participants said that this program was really useful and motivate them to improve their skill in developing and using multimedia as a learning media in the classroom.  Keywords: Multimedia, learning media, Elementary School teachers ABSTRAKProgram ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru – guru Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Rumbai Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau dalam mengembangkan sebuah media pembelajaran berbasis multimedia yang menarik dan memotivasi untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam delapan bulan terhitung mulai bulan Maret hingga bulan Oktober tahun 2018 dengan beberapa tahapan. Program ini memiliki beberapa tahapan yaitu Observasi, Sosialisasi, Pelatihan, Monitoring, dan Evaluasi. Adapun luaran yang menjadi target capaian dari kegiatan ini adalah adanya peningkatan keterampilan guru, karya ilmiah yang dipublikasikan, media pembelajaran, dan publikasi pada media massa. Tahapan pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan media telah dilaksanakan pada 24 – 26 Mei 2018 bertempat di Balai Bahasa  Universitas Lancang Kuning. Terdapat 9 peserta yang mengikuti pelatihan ini dan mereka telah mengembangkan draf media pembelajaran berbasis multimedia dan media tersebut akan selesai dalam beberapa bulan kemudian dengan bantuan dan bimbingan dari tim program ini melalui tahapan monitoring. Di Akhir kegiatan para pelatih dan peserta mengatakan bahwa program ini sangat berguna dan mampu memotivasi mereka untuk meningkatkan kemampuan merekan dalam mengembangkan dan menggunakan multimedia sebagai media pembelajaran di kelas Kata Kunci: Media Pembelajaran, Mulitimedia, Guru Sekolah Dasar
