Abstract

This  research  studies  about  the  students’  error  in  forming passive   sentences by using direct and indirect objects  at  the  English  Department  students  STKIP  YPM Bangko. The purpose o f this research was to find out the students’ error in forming passive sentences at the fourth semester STKIP YPM Bangko. This research was descriptive qualitative method. The population was 26 students at fourth semester on English Department STKIP YPM Bangko. They were selected as the sample by using total sampling technique. The data was collected by using writing test on passive sentences.  The finding showed that students’ errors in forming passive sentences were high in determining objects.Keywords: Indirect and Direct Objects, Passive Sentences

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to analyze the ability and problem of students in writing analytical exposition text. The participants of this research were the students at XI IPA 2 SMAN I Ulakan Tapakis. The type of this research was descriptive research.  The data of the research was collected by administering writing task. The data collected were analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The finding shows that the ability of students in writing thesis arguments, reiteration, language features (Simple present, passive voice and conjunction), vocabulary and mechanics was unsatisfactory. Furthermore they had some problems in writing thesis arguments, reiteration, language features (Simple present, passive voice and conjunction), vocabulary and mechanics. From the data gotten, it can be concluded that the students had unsatisfactory performance in writing analytical exposition text. Key words: students’ability, students’ problems, analytical exposition text.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the errors committed by students in using punctuation, capitalization and spelling in writing business letter. This is descriptive study. The sample of this study was the students of English for Professional Business and Communication Program Academic Year 2021/2022. The finding of the research showed that the common errors committed by students in writing business letter from the highest to the lowest occurrence were spelling, punctuation and capitalization. The errors occur because of omission, addition, misformation and misordering.

Abstract

The aim of this research is making subtitling of Dedap Durhaka Legendary Video. The method used in this study was descriptive. In subtitling the video, the techniques of translation used in subtitling were word for word, literal and adaptation. The duration of the video was 24 minutes 53 second. There were several processes in making the English subtitle. They are collecting the materials, writing the script of video, translating the video and the last process was inserting the subtitle to video. The result of this study was about subtitling of Dedap Durhaka Lgendary Video. Based on the evaluation result, this subtitle can help to get students interest in learning English and make foreigners know the contents of video by reading the English subtitle.
