Abstract

This study aims to improve the students’ science literacy through the application of STEM-Based Worksheet (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) on sound waves learning the material. The research used mixed-method with exploratory sequential design in the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. This study involved 25 eighth grade students of class F as the experimental class and 25 eighth grade students of class A as the control class in SMP Negeri 2 Pugung. The data collecting techniques were observation method, questionnaire, and test. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-test to see the effectiveness of the learning in both groups. The questionnaire results were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the application of STEM-based worksheet could effectively increase the science literacy with N-gain of 0.43 (medium category). The highest increase was in the indicator of “explains the science phenomenon" and the lowest was on the "drawing conclusions" indicator. The results of the students’ questionnaire responses after using the developed worksheet was 92,73 (very high category). This means that the developed students’ worksheets effective in increasing science literacy.

Abstract

Breast cancer incidence is still very high; therefore SADARI would be more effective if it is done as early as possible to determine abnormalities. Health education is one effort to make adolescents realizing to do SADARI. The aim of this research is to analyze the impact of health education on breast self-examination behavior in female adolescent. Research design used is One-Group Pretest-Posttest design using simple random sampling obtaining sample of 49 female adolescents at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Lamongan in April 2016. Data were collected using checklist with the observation method and analyzed using Chi-Square. The results showed that before being given health education, 93.9% of female adolescents made mistakes in doing SADARI and after being given health education, 69.4% of female adolescents made mistakes in doing SADARI. There are differences in doing SADARI of female adolescents in eleventh grade before and after being given health education concluded from this data X 2 = 7,243 and p = 0.007. It can be concluded that the promotion of health education is very influential to improve SADARI in female adolescents. It can improve their knowledge and it can be applied in the examination and early detection of breast cancer.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan teman sebaya dengan kepercayaan diri pada pemain futsal Universitas Diponegoro. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 210 pemain futsal Universitas Diponegoro, dengan sampel penelitian berjumlah 149 orang yang dipilih menggunakan teknik convenience sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan skala psikologi model likert yang terdiri dari dua skala, yaitu skala dukungan teman sebaya (41 aitem, α = 0,928)  dan skala kepercayaan diri  (35 aitem, α = 0,933). Analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana dengan bantuan SPSS versi 21.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara dukungan teman sebaya dengan kepercayaan diri pada pemain futsal Universitas Diponegoro (rxy = 0,441, p = 0,000). Semakin positif dukungan teman sebaya maka kepercayaan diri semakin tinggi. Sebaliknya, semakin negatif dukungan teman sebaya maka kepercayaan diri semakin rendah. Nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,195, artinya dukungan teman sebaya memberikan sumbangan efektif sebesar 19,5 % pada kepercayaan diri.Â
