Abstract

In obtaining the dynamic response of a dynamic system, its uncouple modal equation of movement simplifies the usage of superposition modal method. This paper proposes a strategy to obtain the uncouple modal equation based an hypotheses of Basile : “Although the presence of modal-damping-couple, the modal equations of movement are dynamically uncoupled for a structure having small damping coefficient if its natural frequencies are well-separated"(1). This hypotheses is justified by several authors, i. e. by Hasselman(1). Thus, by separating the natural frequencyof a dynamic system using Hasselman criteria, it is expected that the modal equation of movement will become uncoupled. The separation of the natural fiequency is done by optimization method which is conducted by using the finite element software ANSYS.

Abstract

The sound quality of a gong is influenced by its dynamic characteristics (its structural eigenmode). By controlling natural frequency ratio of the gong to a certain value, we can expect to obtain the optimum gong design. The subject of the present research is to establish an analysis of the application of design optimization in obtaining an optimum gong design. The optimum gong is defined as a gong that has a certain natural frequency ratio. The natural frequency ratio adopted in this reseach is based on those of English bell [1]. The Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Techniques from Ansys 5.4 is used to perform the optimization process. The design optimization method has been successfully applied on the optimization of the gong. The results obtained from the three case studies show that the most sensitive part of the gong is at its around free end. This indicates that in manufacturing gong, this part must be carefully treated.

Abstract

Makalah ini mengetengahkan dua program dasar proyek penelilian berjudul "Penelitian Beberapa Aspek Sistem Perpipaan dan Penyusunan Konsep Kode Perancangan, Pembuatan, Perakitan dan Pengujian Sistem Perpipaan Indonesia", yaitu : (1) penyusunan konsep kode perancangan sistem perpipaan industri dan (2) penelitian tentang distribusi regangan pada percabangan pipa dan pipa belokan serta penelitian tentang fleksibilitas sistem perpipaan.Hasil proyek penelitian ini, yaitu (1) konsep kode perancangan, (2) algoritma analisis fleksibilitas sistem perpipaan dan (3) diagram distribusi tegangan umuk berbagai percabangan pipa dan pipa belokan, akan memberikan kontribusi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan rekayasa dan perancangan sistem perpipaan dalam bidang industri proses dan industri perminyakan, yang merupakan industri penting bagi ekonomi negara.

Abstract

This paper discusses a method to optimize the distribution of viscoelastic-damping layer on elastic plate structures. This method is based on well known SUMT (Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Technique) algorithm. An innovation where elements’ strain energy distribution over the plate structure is used to determine the search direction vector. The method models the two layers damped plate as a single layer damped plate. The mechanical properties of single layer damped plate were determined such that they are equivalent to those of two-layers elasticviscoelastic laminate. MSC/Nastran finite element software was used to calculate the dynamic characteristics and the elements’ strain energy distribution of the single layer plate. The proposed innovation has successfully determined the optimum distribution of viscoelastic material. The results show that the optimum distribution of viscoelastic material on elastic structure is strongly influenced by structural support type and number of modes retained for the analysis.

Abstract

Dalam tulisan ini dibahas suatu penerapan dari metode optimasi untuk mendapatkan redaman struktur melalui pelapisan material viskoelastik secara optimal. Algoritme optimasi yang digunakan didasarkan pada metode kriteria optimalitas (optimality criteria) dari Kuhn-Tucker, di mana berat total struktur di ambil sebagai fungsi objektif dengan kendala dinamik berupa redaman struktur. Model redaman yang digunakan adalah redaman jenis histeritik. Gradien fungsi kendala terhadap disain variabel dihitung dengan menggunakan perhitungan sensitivitasdengan variabel kompleks. Sebagai contoh numerik diberikan satu kasus optimasi pelapisan material viskoelastik pada suatu beam Euler-Bernoulli.

Abstract

During its operation, Slide-Water-Gate structure, receive an excessive vibration due to resonance effect caused by water current. To avoid this undesirable effect, in this paper we propose the application of structural optimization method to modify the initial structure. The goal of this optimization is to maximize the first natural frequencies so that the resonance effect can be minimized and the weight of structure is remained constant. The optimization is conducted by using the ANSYS 5.4 finite element program package.

Abstract

One method to increase badminton racket performance is by improving individual players racket. For this purpose, two measurements are necessary, i.e. (1) the racket ‘s location of sweet spot that is inherent due to its manufacturing process and (2) the players "sweet spot", i.e. the spot that the player consistently hit the badminton cock, which for factory manufactured racket is not the racket ’s inherent sweet spot. If the two spots do not coincide, than the original racket meet spot can be shi/ted until it coincides with the player sweet spot, making the racket performance to be maximised.

Abstract

This paper presents a reliability analysis of elevator control system for CN235-220 aircraft. The analysis is carried out using Bayes theorem. Reliability analysis is performed for several system configurations, existing system and two modified systems. Reliability calculation shows that one of the modified systems has reliability relatively higher than the existing system. To insure all requirement needed, the other analysis i.e. strength, stability, etc. must be conducted for the modified system.

Abstract

This paper presents an experimental investigation of the single and double adhesively lap-bonding joint. The adhesive material used is Metalloam® grade III. The study was performed to investigate the influence of curing time on the shear strength of the bonding. The results show that the shear strength of the bonding joint increases with the curing time. The maximum shear strength was achieved after the curing time attaint 96 hours.
