Abstract

Environmental problems are problems that arise from humans themselves, this can be one of the obstacles to factors that affect the success of teachers and learners in the teaching and learning process in schools. This problem must be overcome by making an effort to foster attitudes and living behaviors for school residents, both teachers, students, employees and parents / families who care about the environment with the management of environmentally sound school areas through the Adiwiyata program. Adiwiyata Program is a program of the Ministry of Environment, where this program is a form of appreciation given by the government to formal educational institutions that are considered to be instrumental in developing environmental education. With the Adiwiyata program, the Faculty of Agriculture – Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya as one of the Universities in Indonesia, especially East Java can make a real contribution in the success of the program through Community Service (PkM) activities. Community Service activities with the empowerment of elementary school teachers are carried out in the West Surabaya area, which is structurally an integral part of the Lakarsantri Subdistrict area, Surabaya - East Java. This program aims to grow and improve the ability of elementary school students to create a healthy environment and avoid negative environmental impacts through school activities with the empowerment of elementary teachers, through active involvement both initiativeally and participatoryly. This method of activity will be carried out using the PRRA (Participatory Rapid Rural Appraissal) and RRA (Rapid and Rural Appraissal) methods, between members of the elementary and companion teachers group (UWKS College) and students. This PkM is important to be proposed and carried out in order to support accelerating the target of achieving the UWKS Higher Education Strategic Plan, where the Umbrella of UWKS Superior Research and Service in accordance with the Rector's Decree in 2012, that the umbrella of research and service of the flagship LPPM-UWKS institution is "Sainteks and Environmental Insights". Abstract

Hydroponic cultivation systems are increasingly popular among urban communities with not large land. This cultivation can provide benefits and effectiveness for those who carry it out. The wick system is one of the simple hydroponics methods that is easy to do, because it is a passive hydroponic system. This study aims to find out how the effect of shallot solution to the growth and production of bok coy plants on hydroponic cultivation of the wick system. Hydroponics of the wick system is a hydroponic method of the axis system, which is the simplest because it uses the principle of water capillarity. Distribution of nutrient solution towards root using axis intermediaries. This study used a Randomized Group Design (RDG) with 12 experimental units and the Least Significance Different (LSD) with an error rate of 5%. The concentration of shallot solution added is P0 (0%), P1(20%), and P2 (30%). The results showed that the treatment of AB mix nutrition as a hydroponic medium has a tendency to have a better effect on the growth parameters and yield of Pakcoy plants. AB mix treatment had a significant effect on production parameters, namely total wet weight, upper wet weight, root wet weight, and dry weight. Provision of shallot soak at concentrations of 20% and 30% added to hydroponic media with AB mix nutrition has not been able to improve the growth parameters and yield of Pakcoy.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the Alellopathy Potential contained in Imperata cylindrica extract as a Bio-herbicide. The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture; Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya University. This research method used completely randomized design (CRD); with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments are (A0): Control; A1 : extract concentration ( 250 g/L) ; A2 : 500g/L ; (A3); 750 g / L. Observational data were analyzed using Analysis of Variant (ANOVA), then tested with 5% BNT. The results showed allelopathy contained in the extract of Imperata cylindrica L. can suppress weed seed germination up to 94.67 %; and has a negative effect on the initial growth of spiny spinach (Amaranthus spinosus L) seedling sprouts. With treatment A2 and A3 ; All weed seeds that were able to germinate grew abnormally (100%). Imperata cylindica extract has the potential to be used as a bio-herbicide (natural herbicide) to suppress the early growth of weed seeds on spinach spines.
