Abstract

This study aims to determine students' perception of the English Intensive Program (EIP) in improving students' speaking performance. The Cross-sectional survey design was designed to analyze a detailed and in-depth analysis using google forms to distribute the research questionnaires. The researcher used two instruments to find the required data and determine students' perception of EIP, namely questionnaires and speaking performance test reports. The researcher combined the two instruments to support the research data. Researchers recruited 40 students as samples from non- English departments. The findings show that after implementing the EIP, the students' speaking performance experienced a significant increase of 74.12, which means EIP positively impacts improving students' speaking performance. In addition, the student's perception of EIP was 88.2% strongly agree and agree, which means the implementation of EIP in improving students' speaking performance is EIP functions effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the role playing method on the learning outcomes of social studies content and speaking skills in class V of SD Negeri Pamulian 01. The method used in this study is quantitative experimentation. The sampling technique used is the saturated cluster random sampling technique which makes the entire population a sample in the study. The data obtained came from learning outcome tests and observation sheets. Data for the learning outcomes test using and observation sheets are used to collect data on students' speaking skills. The material used in this study is the economic activities of the community. Data on the learning outcomes of experimental classes and control classes were obtained with a t value of 2.666 > 2.024 and a significance value of 0.011 < 0.05. Based on the provisions applicable to the hypothesis testing that the researcher has outlined, then Ha1 is accepted and Ho1 is rejected. This means that there is a significant difference in student learning outcomes between classes that use the Role Playing learning method and those that do not use the role playing learning method. Observation data of the experimental class and control class were obtained with a t value of 6.157 > 2.024 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Based on the provisions applicable to hypothesis testing that the researcher has outlined, then Ha2 is accepted and Ho2 is rejected. This means that there is a significant difference in students' speaking skills between classes that use the Role Playing learning method and those that do not use the role playing learning method.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to describe the implementation of literacy culture and digital literacy, as well as identify the supporting and inhibiting factors of literacy culture and digital literacy in increasing reading interest of elementary school students. This research uses a case study qualitative approach. Data collection techniques with participatory observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data using triangulation techniques. This research was conducted at SD Negeri Kecipir 01 Brebes, Central Java. The results of this study are: 1) the implementation of literacy culture, namely: reading corner, reading 15 minutes before learning, library procurement; 2) Implementation of digital literacy by: E-library, a digital guide for teachers in learning; 3) Supporting factors: The role of schools by providing infrastructure suggestions, students' reading interest, the role of parents, teachers have a good learning spirit; 4) Inhibiting factors: incomplete infrastructure, student conditions and an unsupportive environment, lack of student interest in reading, and lack of parental supervision.
