Abstract

Population growth fastly causes the amount of energy consumption is increasing. Accretion of energy consumption without the addition of the source will cause the disruption of existing energy distribution system. Meanwhile, alternative energy development takes a long time while the demand for energy cannot be postponed. To overcome this, the goverment has issued Goverment Regulation No. 70 Year 2009 on Konsevarsi Energi. Main part of energy conversion includes an audit of energy that knowing the profile of energy use, identify energy waste and develop measures to prevent it. Energy audit can be conducted on the use of electricity in a building, such as households. Electrical energy consumption in households tend to be wasteful because people cannot regulate electric energy consumption in households. Electrical energy consumption could be reduced if energy use had been planned earlier. Therefore, in this study focused on opportunities saving electrical energy by conducting energy audits. From the results of energy audits can be arranged steps and strategies that will be done in order to obtain saving electrical energy consumption in households. Beside it, this study also will be obtained a system which can be directly applied in the community. The method performed in this study is to create a new system which was performed on the system load replacement lamp, magic com, televisisons, computers and implement energy management strategies. Energy management strategy adopted is to change the paint color froam a dark room with bright colors, adding a new window and redigning the room based on standards set by IEEE 802.3az. from the resulting new system can occur energy savings of 65.4% compared to the old system.

Abstract

Komponen mesin pesawat yang sering mengalami kerusakan adalah turbin yang berbahan dasar nikel. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah mengganti dengan turbin yang baru dengan cara pengelasan. Masalah yang timbul dalam pengelasan ini adalah tidak adanya filler rod pasaran yang cocok untuk bahan dasar superalloy nikel sehingga perlu dilakukan rekayasa filler rod. Pengelasan dengan menggunakan rekayasa filler rod memerlukan pengujian kuat arus agar diketahui kuat arus yang tepat dalam menghasilkan panas untuk mencairkan logam dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kuat arus terhadap kekerasan material superalloy berbasis nikel yang dilakukan pengelasan TIG menggunakan rekayasa filler rod. Kuat arus pada saat pengelasan divariasi sebesar 70 A, 80 A dan 100 A sehingga didapatkan 3 spesimen uji. Masing-masing spesimen diuji kekerasan micro Vickers. Dari hasil pengujian didapatkan bahwa pada daerah las mempunyai nilai kekerasan yang paling tinggi di bandingkan daerah HAZ, daerah logam induk dan daerah logam induk bagian ujung.

Abstract

Gasoline motorcycles are a means of transportation that is currently the most in-demand by the people of Indonesia. Most of the youth are waiting for gasoline-fueled motorbikes with superior performance so many lovers from the automotive sector, researchers and industry make modifications to improve the performance of these vehicles. This study aims to improve the performance of the gasoline engine. The research method used is to modify the exhaust manifold on the combustion engine. Modifications are made by adding a Torque Expansion Chamber (TEC) 1 tube 2 channels and variations of nozzles 40, 50, and 60. The next step is to test torque, power, and specific fuel consumption. The results show that the use of 1 tube 2 channel TEC and variations of nozzles 40, 50, and 60 can increase torque, increase power and reduce specific fuel consumption. The highest torque of 9.94 Nm was obtained at 5500 rpm using 1 tube 2 channel TEC and 50 nozzle variations. The highest power of 8.03 HP was obtained at 6250 rpm using 1 tube 2 channel TEC and 50 nozzle variations. Minimum specific fuel consumption with a value of 0.14145 kg/kWh was obtained by using TEC 1 tube 2 channel and nozzle variation 40. Increasing torque by using modified TEC 1 tube 2 channel and nozzle variation 40, 50, and 60 is due to back pressure so that heat that comes out with the exhaust gases is not completely removed by the environment. The increase in power is caused because the power is directly proportional to the torque, while the decrease in specific fuel consumption is caused because the specific fuel consumption is inversely proportional to the power.

Abstract

The standard box car design has a large drag and wake area which results in high fuel consumption. One way to reduce drag and wake area is to modify the box car design. Modifications were made by adding an aerokit spoiler and deflector to a standard box car which is expected to reduce drag and wake areas. The next step is to design a simulation using CFD-based CAD. The analysis was carried out with three variations of speed, namely 60 km/hour, 80 km/hour and 100 km/hour. The simulation results show that the design of the box car with the modification of the addition of aerokit spoilers and deflectors can reduce the drag and wake areas.

Abstract

Competition between industries is increasing. Every company is required to develop its products so that it has the ability to compete. PT XYZ is a company engaged in the automotive industry, one of its products is car bumpers. The problem faced by PT XYZ is the high number of product defects that are produced. This study aims to reduce product defects produced at PT XYZ. The research method is using injection molding simulation with moldflow software so that the best injector location is known and is expected to reduce production defects. The simulation results show that the best injector location is at the coordinates (752, 391, 239). The simulation results also show that there is no potential for water trap, weld line, and sinkmark defects that occur. However, the potential for warpage defects still exists. Three potential warpage defects that may occur are high warpage of 29%, medium warpage of 16.6% and low warpage of 5.4%.

Abstract

The problem faced by the PT Ganding Toolsindo company is that it still takes a long time to set the dies on the Seyi SN2-300 Press Machine, this is due to the long process of tightening and releasing the bolts, so it requires a proposed work aid design to shorten the process time for tightening and releasing the bolts. bolt on the die. This research aims to design work aids in the form of a hydraulic system to support die clamping in tightening the dies. The method used in this research is designing tools for the hydraulic system when setting up dies on a press machine. The results obtained by this research are in the form of a hydraulic system design that supports dies clamping during internal press machine setup where this tool can eliminate the operator's work in tightening and releasing bolts during the dies setup process on the Seyi SN2-300 Press Machine at PT Ganding Toolsindo. The design of this hydraulic system is described using CAD software which is based on calculations and dimensions of the dies used in the press machine.
