Abstract

Abstract Azolla microphylla is one of aquatic plants that rich of protein, calcium and phosphorus. One of effect of fed various levels Azolla microphylla is increase for calcium and phosphorus intake. Intake of calcium and phosphorus can improve quality of eggshell. Eighty birds laying of Arab hens with average body weight of ± 1,25 kg were used as the experimental animals in the present of study. There were 4 treatments based on the different ratio of Azolla microphylla, 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%. The experiment was assigned in a completely randomized designed (CRD) with 5 replicates (4 birds each). Parameters observed were feed consumption, calcium consumption, phosphorus consumption, calcium retention, phosphorus retention. The result indicated that different levels of Azolla microphylla significantly (P<0,05) affect to calcium consumption, phosphorus consumption, calcium retention, phosphorus retention, and mass of calcium and phosphor eggshell. Ration with ratio of 6% Azolla microphylla is the best category of dietary calcium and phosphorus sources because ratio of 6% Azolla microphylla supplied the highest of calcium and phosphorus. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the further effect of soybean oil and phycocyanin extract against the quality of macronutrient (fat, protein, lactose) and also Solid Non-Fat (SNF) in cow’s milk. Two different substances, i.e., soybean oil and different amount of phycocyanin extract was added into the milk. The result showed the increase of protein content gradually from 3.49 ± 0.230 to 3.88 ± 0.010 when phycocyanin was added. The inverse with the decreased fat content from the control sample, but after the addition of phycocyanin extract, it was increased gradually 6.15 ± 0.210 to 6.35 ± 0.21. SNF has increased from 10.61 ± 0.014 to 10.87 ± 0.007, while the decreasing level of lactose has been shown from 5.74  ± 0.021 to 5.62  ± 0.028 due to addition of phycocyanin. In conclusion,  the addition of phycocyanin extract can increase the protein and SNF content of milk. This phycocyanin extract also acts as an antioxidant agent so that it can reduce the oxidation process, which might be caused by the addition of soybean oil. Soybean oil might be used as a food additive to improve the fat content of milk but must be accompanied by an antioxidant agent to prevent the oxidation process.

Abstract

The livestock sub-sector has a very important role in meeting the protein needs of the population by improving community nutrition and increasing farmers' incomes. One of the many animal husbandry businesses developed in Indonesia is the business of broiler chickens. The obstacles faced in raising broiler chickens are susceptible to diseases, one of which is Salmonellosis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving antibiotic concoctions to salmonella transmission and broiler starter chicken performance. One day old broiler chickens (DOC) 100 tails with an initial body weight of an average of 70-95 grams are randomly allocated into 4 treatments and 5 replications, where each test consists of 5 tails. The four treatments consisted of T0 (100% drinking water), T1 (95% drinking water: 5% compounded antibiotics), T2 (90% drinking water: 10% compounded antibiotics) and T3 (85% drinking water: 15% concocted antibiotics ). Commercial feed for broilers and drinking water treatment is given ad libitum. The parameters observed were body weight, feed consumption, FCR (Feed Convert Ratio), liver weight, blood sugar, relative length of digestive tract of chicken and salmonella sp bacteria in the large intestine of broiler chicken at 35 days. The results showed that the administration of antibiotic concoctions had no significant effect (P≥0.05) on body weight, feed consumption, FCR (Feed Convert Ratio), liver weight, blood sugar, relative length of digestive tracts of chickens and salmonella sp bacteria in the large intestine. It was concluded that the administration of antibiotic concoctions did not significantly affect the transmission of salmonella sp and broiler starter performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the effect from different levels of supplementation of duck egg shells powder in the diet of quail (Coturnix-Coturnix japonica) as feed material source of calcium to productivity quail. This study used 82 birds 49 days old female quail and retrieval of data up to the age of 90 days. The experimental design used completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment is a duck egg shell powder with some level of rationing, ie P0 = 0% duck egg shell powder, P1 = 0.25% duck egg shell powder + 99.75% commercial feed, P2 = 0.50% duck egg shell powder + 99.5% commercial feed, P3 = 0.75% duck egg shell powder + 99.25% commercial feed. The measured parameters ie feed consumption, calcium, protein, and the daily egg production (QDP). ANOVA test results stating that the treatment significantly different (P>0,05) on daily egg production (QDP) and very significantly different (P>0,01) on egg weights. Based on the results of this study indicate that duck egg shell powder at 0.5% can be used optimally to affect the daily egg production of quail and at 0,25% can be used to affect the egg weights.

Abstract

This study aim to determine the nutritional needs of laying hens according to physiological and environmental conditions in order to support the productivity of laying hens with free feeding choice. This research was conducted in Sidoharjo, Sumbung, Cepogo, Boyolali. Thirty layers of laying hens, age 52 weeks used in this study. The chicken were fed freely selectively with premix, corn, rice bran, and concentrate feed as measured ad libitum. Parameters measured were consumption, HDP, shell thickness and weight, albumen index, yolk index, and haugh index. The results were analyzed quantitatively by reading data with the graph. The results showed that the dietary intake of laying hens was lower than the standard, however, the nutrient needs could be fulfilled because the nutritional content of the feed ingredients was good. It’s can be seen from the high HDP, shell weight and thickness, also good egg index. Laying hens are able to fulfill their nutrient needs with the free feeding choice treatment.
