Abstract

This study was aimed to find kind of improvements of sugar distribution system using value stream mapping (VSM) when some inefficiencies in physical and service activities were encountered that will cause wasting time. The VSM was directed to reduce non value added time as the performace parameter. VSM was used to analyze thus inefficiencies because using VSM can simply mapping to trace whole activities both of material and service flow from beginning to the end of process. A case study of Industri Gula Nusantara showed that in its service operations, there were an inefficiency in the process of issueing the loading order. Move thus activity a day earlier, the improvement sounds a shorter service time over order and delivery schedule which in further make a better operation and service over the whole process of sugar distribution. At same time a policy of safety stock or inventory leveling could minimize stock out occasion by the increasing of service level from 25% to 38% that was close to standard deviation of demand during lead time.

Abstract

This study examines the model development of the drying process of corn grains as a dynamic system. The appropriate use of a dynamic model for the drying process of corn grains could lead to an effective method for optimizing the system. The optimal control strategy can be determined by predicting the future behaviors of the process using a dynamic model. In this work, the dynamic characteristic of the water loss of corn grains during dynamics treatment of temperature in the drying process was measured in a continuous manner using a precise load cell. The nonlinear autoregressive with external input (NARX) neural network is used to identify and develop a model of dynamic characteristics of the drying process of corn grains. Then for model training and validation, the dynamic responses of the rate of water loss of corn grains to drying temperature were used. A three-layered NARX neural network model consists of 1-10-1 number neurons of each layer with two times delay was successfully developed to identify and make a model such a complex system. The developed model showed the accuracy of the rate water loss of corn grains during the drying process with the mean square error (MSE), and coefficient of determination (R-squared) values are 1.88892 x 10-4 and 0.891594 consecutively.

Abstract

Due to their importance in industry, dynamic demand lot-sizing problems are frequently studied. This study consider dynamic lot-sizing problems with recent advances in problem and modelformulation, and algorithms that enable large-scale problems to be effectively solved.Comprehensive review is given on model formulation of dynamic lot-sizing problems, especiallyon capacitated lot-sizing (CLS) problem and the coordinated lot-sizing problem. Bothapproaches have their intercorrelated, where CLS can be employed for single or multilevel/stage, item, and some restrictions. When a need for joint setup replenishment exists, thenthe coordinated lot-sizing is the choice. Furthermore, both algorithmics and heuristics solutionin the research of dynamic lot sizing are considered, followed by an illustration to provide anefficient algorithm.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the scope of agroindustry are related to the food and non-food industry managedby Small-Medium Enterprises (SME). The classical problem of Indonesian Agroindustry wererelated to logistic, infrastructure, technology, high-cost economy, regulation, and financingconstraint. Therefore, an innovative business model is required for competitive and sustainableSME. Importance rate of the model can be defined by determining some criteria in a businessmodel. Analytical Network Process (ANP) is required to determine importance rate of businessmodel. However, ANP could not minimize the subjectivity factor of the respondent indetermining the criteria. Application of Conditional Probability Co-occurrences Matrix (CPCM)is required to minimize the subjectivity factor by comparing priority weight of each criterias. Theresearch objectives are: 1) To apply ANP method for representing business model criteria andattribute of SME; 2) To apply CPCM method for criteria pattern extraction. The case study ofresearch is SME Bakpia Tela Ungu and Telopia. CPCM Pattern extraction of Contrast, Energyand Local Homogeneity indicated the significant different of business model criteria betweenfood, non-food agroindustry and local governmental board. The research results indicated thatthere were different subjectivity to determine criteria priority weight.

Abstract

Every marketing organization, whether manufacturing or service provider company is required to create differentiation, positioning, and competitive strategies. The most important factor to increase competitiveness in the field is quality of service. Therefore, providing good service appropriate to the expectations and desires of consumers is essential to create and ensure satisfaction. Tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy are significantly related to consumer’s retention efforts. It is important to analyze the relationship between consumers and the product or service offered to understand that consumers have diverse desires when trying new product or service. This study aimed to investigate the priority of service attributes requiring improvements in coffee and coworking spaces, as well as provide suggestions for improvements based on observations. The variables were in the dimensions of service quality (tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy). Furthermore, relevant data were collected through questionnaires, while nonprobability sampling method was adopted. Analysis method included Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) and Potential Gain in Customer Value (PGCV). The respondents were 300 consumers of K, R, and S. IPA results identified three attributes in quadrant I, which were sorted by PGCV priority. These attributes included tangible variables (4), empathy (19), and responsiveness (9). Recommendations for improvements included checking all available facilities, providing training to improve employee skills for service, and proactiveness in interaction by offering available menus.
