Post-stroke depression has a negative impact on the functional independence of patients carrying out daily activities. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a class of antidepressants that are recommended as the first-line therapy for post-stroke depression because of their favorable tolerability profile. This literature review is intended to present a new insight about the effect of SSRIs in increasing the functional independence in patients with post-stroke depression. We applied a qualitative research design using two notable databases: PubMed and Google Scholar. Only references written in English were used in this paper. We also limited the publication year of journals from 2010 to 2020. From the results of journal searches, we found around 52.984 journals. However only 5 were included that met the inclusion criteria which were: (1), Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) that tested the benefits of SSRIs treatment in post-stroke depression patients compared to other antidepressants or other treatment modalities; and (2) provided with the outcome measure of functional independence. In conclusion, we believe that SSRIs have an effect on improving functional independence in post-stroke depression patients. SSRIs have also been shown to have positive effects with various combinations of non-pharmacological therapeutic modalities as their support.

Malaria is a disease caused by Plasmodium infection that is still a health problem in the tropical area including Indonesia. Penajam Paser Utara is the only district with a high level of malaria endemicity outside eastern of Indonesia which is located at the Province of East Kalimantan. Malaria can cause various complications including haematological abnormalities. Haematological abnormalities that are often found in both falciparum malaria and vivax malaria is anaemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the types of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax with the incidence of anaemia in malaria patients at Ratu Aji Putri Botung, Penajam Paser Utara hospital. This research is an observational analytic study with cross sectional method. The data was obtained from medical records of hospitalized malaria patients at Ratu Aji Putri Botung Penajam Paser Utara hospital in the period of January 2013 – August 2018 by purposive sampling method. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The subjects of the study were 310 malaria patients consisting of 60,3% (n=187) patients infected with Plasmodium falciparum and 39,7% (n=123) patients infected with Plasmodium vivax. The majority of research subjects were male (95,8%) and were in the 26 – 40 years age group (56,5%). Anaemia was found in 49% of malaria patients dominated by vivax malaria patients (52%). Statistical test result between types of Plasmodium with the incidence of anaemia was p = 0,391. It was concluded that there was no association between the types of Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax with the incidence of anaemia in malaria patients.

Mata kering merupakan penyakit pada permukaan mata yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup. Beberapa penelitian melaporkan hubungan penggunaan amlodipine dengan kejadian mata kering. Namun, penelitian mengenai faktor lama penggunaan amlodipine dengan derajat keluhan mata kering masih kurang. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan lama penggunaan amlodipine dengan derajat keluhan mata kering pada pasien hipertensi. Penelitian ini bersifat analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional yang dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2020. Data diperoleh dari 30 pasien berusia antara 41-65 tahun yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling di Klinik Mitra Keluarga Samarinda. Penelitian ini menggunakan lembar rekam medik dan kuesioner Ocular Surface Disease Index. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan lama penggunaan amlodipine dan derajat keluhan mata kering memiliki hubungan yang bermakna (p = 0,005) dengan kekuatan korelasi sedang (r = 0,496) dengan uji Spearman. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan antara lama penggunaan amlodipine dengan derajat keluhan mata kering, yaitu semakin lama menggunakan obat amlodipine maka derajat keluhan mata kering semakin berat.
