Abstract

The People of Pondok Kelapa mostly work as farm laborers, fishermen and farmers. People are still using raw wood fuel in cooking that has a negative impact in terms of health. LPG fuel is actually good for cooking, but it is relatively expensive. For that need to look for alternative fuels made from materials that are easy to obtain. This service activities such as training for making biogas from cow dung in the village of Pondok Kelapa. Biogas is a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide gas derived from anaerobic fermentation of organic substrates. In this activity, firstly conducted a survey and preparation. Furthermore held counseling, and the last is a core activities including the tool installation and biogas production. This activity produces biogas which initially resulted in a rather small flame. But after his gas collected, the gas produced is large enough. From these activities, the village of Pondok Kelapa succeeded in making biogas from manure. Keywords: biogas, cow manure, fermentation, anaerobic

Abstract

Final grades of student who participated in the Course of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry in Odd Semester, Academic Year of 2022/2023 indicate a low student achievement. The objective of this study was to improve the instruction of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry Course by increasing student learning activities and student achievement on the topic of infra red and nuclear magnetic resonance analysis by utilizing HyperChem and ChemOffice Software. Student and lecturer observation sheet were used for measuring student and lecturer activities, respectively while, an essay test sheet was given to measure student cognitive ability. Student and lecturer activity scores for Cycle 1 were 22 and 27, respectively and fell in “Good” category. Student activity score rose up to the maximum score, 27 while, lecturer activity score remained in maximum score in Cycle 2. Lecturer activity already had a maximum score in Cycle 1 because the lecturer was well-prepared in the instruction as well as successful implementation of learning plan. Increasing student achievement was also recorded from Cycle 1 (average 80.2) to Cycle 2 (average 88.5). The percentage of student who gained score above 65 was 93% in Cycle 1 and went up to 100% in Cycle 2. HyperChem and ChemDraw are able to assist the instruction of Instrumental Analytical Chemistry course on the topic of IR and NMR.

Abstract

[The Influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model on Students' Analysis Ability on Buffer Solution Subjects]. This research is a pre-experimental research type aims to determine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' analytical abilities on buffer solution materials. The research was conducted at SMAN 4 Bengkulu City with a sample of class XI IPA 3, which consisted of 36 students. The instruments used in this study were analytical ability test sheets and observation sheets. From the research results obtained (1) the average pretest-posttest results experienced a significant increase, namely 7.67 to 64.43 from a maximum score of 100. The results of hypothesis testing using a t-test at the significance level of 0.05 obtained a Sig Value (2tailed) of 0.000 with a decision H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows that the problem-based learning model has an effect on students' analytical abilities, (2) the N-gain test results obtained an average of 0.61 in the medium category. The percentage increase in analytical skills on differentiating indicators is 66%, organizing indicators is 67%, and indicators of attributing are 51%.

Abstract

This research aims to identify students' misconceptions on redox reaction material using the Four Tiers Diagnostics Test. The four tiers/stages are selecting answer, affirmation of the chosen answer, selecting reason of the chosen answer, and the affirmation of the selected reason. The diagnostic was carried out at SMAN (senior high school) 5 Bengkulu. The trial of the diagnostic test was conducted to students of class X MIPA 3 and the misconception diagnostic was conducted to students of X MIPA 2. The results show that the percentage of student misconceptions regarding the redox reaction material was 35% (medium category), while 40% of students understand the concept, and 25% of students do not understand the concept. The highest misconception occurs in the sub-concept of reduction and oxidation reactions (42%), follows by dispropornation and conpropornation reactions, (38%), oxidizing-reducing agents (37%), change in oxidation number from element to compound (24 %).

Abstract

[The development of environmental based-labwork instruction book on the topic of exotherm and endotherm reaction for student of Class XI of Science, SMAN 8 Bengkulu Utara]The type of this research is a Research and Development study developing an environmental based - labwork instruction book on exothermic and endothermic reaction topic with the aim of knowing the feasibility and response of students to the labwork instruction book and to determine the psychomotor (skills) score of students using it. This research uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development and Evaluation). This research was conducted at SMAN 8 Bengkulu Utara with research subjects namely 9 students in class XI MIPA 3 for small-scale trials and 28 students in class XI MIPA 1 for large-scale trials. Based on the research results, it is found that (1) The developed environment-based labwork instruction book was suitable to be applied with the percentage of material and media validity respectively were 92.5% and 93.3% with very valid criteria (2) Student responses to the labwork instruction guidebook fell in the very good criteria from the aspects of content quality, language and usefulness with an average percentage was 92.2% on a small scale and 92.7% on a large scale. (3) The psychomotor assessment of students using the labwork instruction book fell in a good criteria, 71.0% for the assessment aspect of the preparation stage; 74.8% for assessment of the implementation stage and 84.7% for assessment of the final stage, with an average percentage of 76.8%.
