Abstract

AbstractThe successful of handline tuna fishing depend on the skill of fisher itself. The catched tuna are still can swim and be able to relase from the hook if the fisher can’t catchup with the speed and direction of tuna. The long struggling process can reduce both energy of fisher and tuna, those will effect the quality of tuna.   The formula of this research written in question as follows : how is the making process  of Handline with float? What is the size of diameter of float used and its position in line? Is it reduce the downward push? The aim of this research is to make Handline with float to stop the swim of tuna; to try the Handline with float and to know the effect of its float to downward push. This Handline with float made in Workshop Fishing Gear of Poltek KP Bitung. The try process held in Lembeh strait.  The data tested using T Test. The result of this research showed that the float can reduce the mass of testing. Keywords : Handline Tuna with float, design, Lembeh Strait Abstrak               Keberhasilan penangkapan handline tuna tergantung pada keterampilan nelayan itu sendiri.

Abstract

Selar boops is a group of small pelagic fish in the Carangidae family, this fish is known by the Bitung people as Tude Batu. This fish has economic value which is caught by fishermen in the waters around Bitung City using hand line fishing. This study aims to identify the secondary sexual organs. Fish samples were collected from 2 locations, namely Kampung Pisang and Pasar Winenet. The secondary sexual organs are identified by observing the morphological using the morphometric truss method of 19 morphological characters. Anova K-Means Cluster (AKMC) analysis as well as discriminant analysis were used to differentiate male and female fish groups. The results of this research showed that the morphometric characteristics of secondary sexual organs in male and female S. boops. The results showed that there were 11 different morphometric truss for morphometric characters in secondary sexual organs of male and female S. boops using AMKC analysis. The results of the discriminant analysis showed that the characteristics of the secondary sex organs in S. boops fish were found in the ratio of pectoral fin length (PaSiPek) and head length (PaKe) with a discriminant value (D) <0 grouped as male fish and discriminant value (D)> 0 classified as female. Abstract

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacterial pathogen that causes various kinds of infections. The use of antibiotics is usually done to treat the infection. However, Pseudomonas aeruginosa has various resistance abilities that can avoid the efficacy of antibiotics. The emergence of drug resistance events encourages the need for the discovery of new antibiotic drugs, one of which comes from fungals secondary metabolite. Soil fungi from mangrove ecosystems have not been studied much. Interestingly, these soil fungi have unique adaptive responses. This response also affects the secondary metabolites it contains. Knowing this information, mangrove soil samples were cultured on fungi media which were then tested against Pseudomonas aeruginosa through antagonist test and microdilution test. Three fungal cultures with yeast characteristics were obtained and each of the secondary metabolite ethyl acetate extracts of these three fungi had antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity was indicated by the % inhibition parameter. The terpenoid content in fungal cultures may be responsible for the antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This research is an initial screening of the search for new antibiotic candidates, so further research study such as isolation and species determination needs to be done.
