Abstract

Milkfish is one of famous fish with highly nutrition contents. They are easily found in the market, and its price is relatively cheap. Milkfish just like other animals, has never free from the threat of various parasites. The fishes are also known to be vulnerable to parasite infection. Several worms species of fishes often inhabit a single body of fish. Therefore, in this study the inventory of parasite was done in milkfish. The examination was begun by measuring the fish total length and its weight, and then observed all the parasites found and inventoried. The examination also performed on the digestive tract by dissecting the fish. The whole organ observed and stored in a petridish containing a physiological saline solution. And then thy were observed by using a microscope. The results showed that were 6 types digenea 1 (5 species), Nematodes 1 (20 species), Procamallanus (3 species), Anisakis (4 species), Dichelyne (1 species), and Rhabdochona (1 species) with a parasitic worm intensity by 32 . Highest intensity in fish Nematodes 1 by 20 and the lowest in fish Dichelyne , and Rhabdochona by 1 with a prevalence of parasitic worms by 40% . Highest parasite prevalence of digenea 1 by 12% and the lowest was 1 Nematodes, Dichelyne, Rhabdochona by 4% .Keyword: inventory, parasite worms, milkfish

Abstract

A study has  been carried out to identify the bacteria that  infected the  garra  rufa  fish (Cyprinion macrostamus) which have been transported through the Quarantine Office of Soekarno - Hatta Airport.  These fishes were among the freshwater commodities which frequently transported throughout various countries, because they were commonly used for decreasing the effect of psoriasis in a feet  spa  treatment, by  feeding  the  dead  cells of  feet  skin.  Therefore, the possibility of spreading the diseases during  the treatment must be anticipated. In this study the bacteria samples were taken from the fish skin and then cultured in the laboratory. After purification of the  cultures,  the bacteria were then tested by a serial  microbiological methods to identify the bacteria. The results showed that the Garra rufa  fish (Cyprinion macrostomus)  observed in this study  indicated  the presence of   bacteria  of  (+) Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia,  and  (-) of   Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia, which were among the diseases of quarantine fishes.  While the Aeromonas hydrophylla  was also found out, even though not  included as diseases of quarantine fishes. Therefore, they may received the health  certificate  for  fish and fish product for export as well as  for therapeutic purposes .Keyword: garra rufa, bacterial identification, bacterial pathogen

Abstract

Sinodontis is one of the ornamental fish that have high economic value, because of its unique behavior which could swim in reversed position. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the effect of incubation temperature on hatching time and hatching time of sinodontis eggs, and to know the optimal temperature for the time of hatching time and hatching rate of the sinodontis eggs. The main parameters measured were the hatching time and hatching rate of sinodontis eggs. This experiment used completely randomized design with 4 treatment temperature difference, A (25-26oC), B (28-29oC), C (31-32oC) and D (control), with 3 replications. The results showed that the fastest hatching time of sinodontis obtained in treatment C at 1120 minutes (18 hours 40 minutes), then treatment B at 1240 minutes (20 hours 40 minutes), then treatment D at 1340 minutes (22 hours 20 minutes) and longest hatching time in treatment A at 1760 minutes (29 hours 20 minutes). Highest hatching rate of sinodontis obtained in A treatment that was equal to 94.67%, then C treatment that was equal to 82.67%, and treatment D amounted to 81.33% and lowest hatching rate in treatment B 80.00%. Based on the results of the study showed that the optimal temperature to accelerate the sinodontis for hatching time was at a temperature of 31-32oC, while the optimum temperature for increasing the hatchability of sinodontis eggs was at a temperature of 25-26°C.
