Abstract

Travellers try to increase the efficiency of their travel by several methods. Current university students are expected as having more variety of activity, which change their travel behaviors. The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of students’ travel related with campus activities. The analysis was completed by developing several models based on travel diary which is filled in by student of Parahyangan Catholic University. Analysis shows that around 30% of students make several stops in their travel to or from campus. Analysis also shows a difference in the use of motorcycle and automobile in term of distance and travel time. It is found that decision in mode choice by student is influenced by gender, travel time, and frequency. Moreover, trip frequency and financial availability influence their travel time.                                                                                             Keywords: trip chain, students, travel diary  Pelaku perjalanan berusaha untuk mengefisienkan perjalanannya melalui beragam cara. Mahasiswa saat ini diduga memiliki aktivitas yang lebih beragam, sehingga perilaku perjalanannya berubah. Tujuan studi ini adalah menganalisis karakteristik perjalanan mahasiswa terkait kegiatan kampus. Analisis dilakukan dengan membangun sejumlah model berdasar data catatan perjalanan mahasiswa Universitas Katolik Parahyangan. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa sekitar 30% mahasiswa melakukan sejumlah perhentian dalam melakukan perjalanan menuju atau dari kampus. Selain itu diperoleh juga bahwa terdapat perbedaan dalam penggunaan sepeda motor dan mobil dalam hal jarak dan waktu perjalanan. Keputusan pemilihan moda oleh mahasiswa ditemukan dipengaruhi oleh jenis kelamin, waktu perjalanan, dan frekuensi. Adapun frekuensi perjalanan dan kemampuan finansial mempengaruhi waktu perjalanan mahasiswa. Kata-kata kunci: rantai perjalanan, mahasiswa, catatan perjalanan

Abstract

Fare determination is one of the strategies in transportation management in campus area especially to solve parking problem. This study aims to find the value of the willingness to pay of student for using parking facilities based on parking duration and quality of facilities. Analysis shows that there is significant different in the average of WTP for different group of parking quality. This study also found that the characteristics of travel and activities influence the value of WTP, where it is not only influenced by economic capability. Student who are young and more active in conducting travel tends to show higher willingness to pay.

Abstract

Bandung City Government plans to improve their bus services which are expected to decline traffic congestion,reduce air pollution, and improve road safety. One of the efforts is to implement the conversion policy of minibus/paratransit to public bus. The purpose of this study is to analyze people's behavior related for theconversion policy above and their intentions to use it. For that purpose, the analysis performed with the datathat obtained by interviewing public transport users in Bandung City. The method used in this research isTheory of Planned Behavior. It is found that, the effect of evaluation outcomes, motivation to comply andperceived power proven to be significant on the behavioral intention to shift the use of public transportationfrom mini public buses to city buses. The contribution of evaluation outcomes influences the highest comparedto other factors, which is 32.36%, this shows that the evaluation of the performance of city bus services is themost dominant factor in shaping the behavioral intention to use city bus. Positive perception towards theconversion policy is in the high number, however, the intentions to shift to public transport should be supportedby ensuring high quality bus services.
