Abstract

Atmosphere Water Harvester (AWH) was investigated to get water collected from air in elevated performance. Improvement was performed by introducing a series-arrangement of two evaporators. Air flew through the evaporators in cross-flow. This arrangement would influence performance of the AWH system in title of COP, MHI, and specific energy consumption. The AWH was designed using vapor compression refrigeration system. Parameter measured to the system were refrigerant temperature in suction and discharge line, inlet and outlet pipe wall temperatures at evaporator and condenser, air velocity enter into evaporator, and electrical energy consumption. Instrument used in this research were refrigerant pressure-temperature gauge, K-type digital thermometer, digital fan anemometer, thermo-hygro meter, and kWh meter. Air temperature and RH data were 36,5 oC, 40%, and 19 oC, 42 %  for inlet and outlet air stram at evaporator, subsequently. With air velocity 1.5 m/s, the COP of the system was 3.7. Water collected  from AWH was 1.1 litres/hour with energy consumption of 1.24 kWh. The AWH could be considered as a water harvester with value of specific energy of 1.13 kWh/litre and MHI of 0,2.

Abstract

Program for regional superior product (PPUD-DIKTI) year 2020 aims to increase income of coffee farmers who incorporated in Rahayu IV Gunung Kelir by introduction of roaster. This introduction was done by considering that the farmers was potentially developed from coffee bean to coffee powder producers. PPUD was conducted by Teams from LPPM UNDIP. The program was excecuted in steps: i) designing of roaster machine, ii) roaster machine fabrication, iii) implementation, and iv) evaluation. Program evaluation was performed by analyzing to income added from farmers. Roaster was designed dan fabricated with capacity of 3 kg/batch and processing time of 15-20 minutes. After program implementation, the farmers roasted coffee bean by themselves. Therefore, there was a different value between outsider service-roasting, that done before, and self-roasting of Rp. 10.000,-. Besides self-roasting, the farmers commercialize the roaster as roasting services with rates Rp. 15.000,; per kilograms. Result of this PPUD program shows that during 1 month, the farmers earned Rp. 4.250.000,-. This predicted that the earning would increase 4 times because of the roaster operated in 0,25 off capacity by now. This prediction based on a calculation of roaster operating in 20 days and 7 hours effective time per day.

Abstract

Hydrant is one of fire extinguisher fix system that use pressure water and flowed through the pipes and fire hose. There are more 250 Hydrant in this LNG Plant and based on finding at the field, many stem valve of outlet hydrant in fracture condition, therefore the author wants to analyze about the problem from this material, this reserch aims to find out root cause dan conduct failure analysis, method of reserch that conducted is visual check  to predict possible cause from failure of stem valve fire hydrant and then conducted fractographic analysis to find out what type of fracture that happen to this material and Tensile Strenght Test to Find out the the actual strenght of the material

Abstract

Cooling tower is a heat exchanger used to cool water from the condenser. The process is carried out by contacting water with air directly and discharged into the atmosphere using air fluid that is flowed naturally or flowed by a fan. Cooling tower type used in PLTP Kamojang Unit 5 is Induced draft Counter Flow. This equipment more important in increasing turbine efficiency, therefore special treatment is needed by knowing and observing the performance of the Cooling tower so that it can be analyzed in actual conditions and make decision steps in carrying out further repairs and maintenance, this is the basis of research that will be carried out by looking for value and the Cooling tower performance trendline. The calculation method uses the standard ASME PTC 23-2003 and CTI ATC-105 where the results are the calculation baseline and the historical trendline of Cooling tower performance based on the parameters of the 3-cell Cooling tower operating conditions. The parameters tested are by taking 5 valid data on PLTP KMJ Unit 5, then the Tower Capability performance values are obtained as follows, namely in the initial commissioning conditions the performance value is 92,1%, Q1 2021 is 78,8%, Q3 2021 is 74, 3%, Q4 2021 is 84,7%, and Q1 2022 is 83,8%. There was a decrease in Q3 2021. Then there was an increase in the trend in Q4 2021 due to previous overhaul activities on the Cooling tower. Keywords: Cooling tower, trendline, overhaul, tower capability

Abstract

The activities of Iptek Bagi Desa Binaan (IBDU) UNDIP tahun 2021 aims to increase the productivity of the Tiga Saudara cashew nut small scale industry  partner through introduction of a thermocontrolled multi-rack oven, so that quality of cashew nuts would be uniform, shorter processing time, and therby increasing income. The activity of multi-rack oven development was carried out by the Community Service Team of LPPM UNDIP through Iptek Bagi Desa Binaan (IBDU) program. The program was carried out instages including: i) oven design, ii) oven manufacturing, dan iii) functional and adaptation testing, dan iv) oven operation. The purpose of adaptation test is to operate the oven in relevance environment, whereas operationalization was to operate in an actual environment. Implementation of IBDU activites carried out by by the Community Service Team of LPPM UNDIP through the introduction of oven has had positive impact on Tiga Saudara’s partner. The thermocontrolled multi-rack oven has shown that the performance of these equipment is better, able ti produce uniform cashew nut quality so that productivity increases

Abstract

Performance and vehicle exhaust emissions are determined by many factors that come from various components and take place in a related manner. This test uses 4 types of motorcycles with different cylinder volumes. The test was conducted using a dynamometer test equipment. How to test on a dynamometer using fuel pertamax and Pertamax turbo. Data were taken on transmission gears 1, 2, 3 and 4 at speeds of 20 km, 40 km and 60 km. For emission testing follows the procedure of taking power and torque data and performed simultaneously. The content of emissions in the exhaust gas is CO, CO2, HC and O2 based on the results of the use of exhaust emissions test equipment. The relationship between vehicle speed and gear position to power, torque and exhaust emissions on 2 different fuels is the higher the transmission gear position and speed, the result is high, namely on pertamax fuel (power, torque, CO gas emissions) and pertamax turbo (Power, Torque, CO gas emissions, CO2 gas), the lower the transmission gear position and speed, the result is high, namely on pertamax fuel (CO2) and the lower the transmission gear position and speed, the result is high, namely HC on pertamax fuel and pertamax turbo. The test results of statistical tests t-test 2 samples obtained the results of the fuel test pertamax = Pertamax turbo fuel test on 4 vehicles with different cylinder volumes. Exceptions exist in 160 cylinder volume vehicles in the HC test and 125 cylinder volume vehicles in the CO2 test.
